🐾 Meet Mila (aka Mimi)! 🐾 *Located in Cedar Rapids* Mila is a 70-lb, 2 year old half GSD/ half Akita mix who is basically a giant puppy wrapped up in a black-and-tan package! ❤️ Mila is a total lover and cuddle bug who wants to be wherever her person is. She loves tummy rubs, ear scratches, chin scratches, and pretty much ANY attention you’re willing to give her. And yes… she prefers to do all of it upside down! 😂 When she’s not cuddling, Mila is ready to PLAY! She loves fetch, tug, roughhousing, zoomies, and absolutely terrorizing her toys (although she doesn't destroy all of them!). She especially loves a knotted piece of fabric that she can work on untying. She’s also VERY food motivated—mention whipped cream and she’ll happily spin in circles! 🍦 Mila is potty trained and has been wonderfully behaved when left loose in the house. She sleeps in bed with her foster and thinks that’s exactly where she belongs. 😉 She knows sit, shake, and stay and is continuing to work on her leash manners and overall training. She does well with kids. She will chase cats but didn't hurt them. Mila can be reactive to animals passing by the yard and on walks at times but has done well at petco with dogs around. She’ll need a family willing to continue working with her and helping her learn to stay calm. She came into our rescue with 7 of her babies and they have all been adopted out, now it's Mila's turn! Mila was pulled out of a kill shelter with all her babies by another rescue and lived in a home with multiple other dogs before GSDRI got involved. And then there are the ears. 🥹 Happy Mila = ears straight up. Relaxed Mila = ears out to the side like Dobby. Zoomie Mila = ears straight back. We’re still waiting to see the angry ears! Mila is an incredibly loving, fun, goofy girl who just wants to love her people and be loved right back. If you're looking for a playful adventure buddy who will also happily snuggle upside down on the couch, Mila might be your girl! ❤️🐾

🐾 **Meet Miss Mia Pia!** 🐾 *Fostered in the Des Moines Area* Who says big personalities need big bodies? Miss Mia Pia is a whole lot of dog packed into an adorable 48-pound, short-legged package! 😂❤️ She’s built sturdy, has plenty of love to give, and is on her way to finding her forever family! Mia loves going for walks and is a great girl out and about, staying nonreactive around other dogs, people, and animals. She gets along with other dogs and has a blast playing with her high-energy Malinois/GSD mix foster sister! She can play a little dominant, though, and too many unfamiliar dogs can overwhelm her, so she’d prefer one-on-one friendships over crowded dog parks. 🐶 She’s also living with two cats, is kennel trained, and rides nicely in her kennel in the car. Mia is working on potty training and does best with regular reminders to head outside. Mia came from a rough start in life, and we suspect she didn’t receive adequate nutrition as a puppy. She’s still working through some tummy troubles, so her foster family is helping her get things figured out. A few of Mia’s favorite things? **FOOD, bones, chewing on things, walks, and playtime!** 😋 She is incredibly food motivated and always seems to be thinking about her next meal. She has some ball drive, too, but she’s not over the top about it. She’s even been to the lake, although she hasn’t decided that swimming is her thing just yet! Mia is a medium-energy girl who may develop more energy as she builds muscle and continues to thrive. After everything she’s been through, she deserves a family ready to help her blossom and show her how good life can be. ❤️ 🏡 **Mia is not quite ready for adoption yet, but we ARE accepting applications!** We want to give this sweet girl time to work through her tummy troubles and continue building strength before she heads off to her forever home. 🐾 **Meet Indy!** 🐾 *Located in Des Moines* Indy is a beautiful 55-pound girl, around 2 years old, who has a soft spot for couch cuddles and hanging out with her people! ❤️ After a nice walk, she’s happy to settle in beside you and soak up all the love. Indy is **potty trained and walks great on a leash!** She’s nonreactive when passing other dogs on walks (unless they bark and sometimes she will too) and lives with two male Rottweilers. While she does well with her foster brothers, it took time for her to feel comfortable around them. Indy seems to have had limited socialization with other dogs and can be defensive or fearful at first. She also plays rough, so slow introductions and continued guidance will be important. 🐿️ Squirrels are VERY exciting for this girl! Indy has a fairly high prey drive, so a cat introduction and careful evaluation would be needed before considering a home with cats. She knows **sit** and is working on **stay and down**. Indy is a smart girl who will benefit from a patient family willing to help her continue building confidence. If you're looking for a loyal companion who enjoys walks but is happiest snuggled up on the couch with her favorite people, Indy might be your girl! 🏡💕 **Could you be the one to give Indy her happily ever after?** 🐶❤️

*Located in St Charles* Bruce is a courtesy listing, please contact Danielle for information about Bruce. GSDRI is not involved with this dog at all, other than a courtesy listing. Bruce is a 4 year old all black german shepherd dog. He's a goofball with a guard dog ego. He loves walks, tug of war, being chased, ear/belly scratches, playing with water (hose or shallow pool), chew toys, bones, flirt pole. He would love to sleep on your bed at night, but does well on the couch on his own. He was once kennel trained but has been free range for the past couple of years when we leave. He is reactive towards dogs and children. He cannot be in a household with either. He takes a little bit to warm up to new guests, but can be besties with anyone who will play or give a treat. Bruce will do best with an owner who has experience with German shepherds/working breeds and will be active with him. Bruce has EPI and has to take a pill before eating. *located in the DM area* Sig is a purebred sable GSD that came from a farm. He is just starting to learn the comforts of indoor living. He is 13 weeks old and about 25 lbs. He has started potty training but it's still a work in progress. He kennels well overnight. He is a sweet boy that really loves to follow his people all around the house!
