Meet Togo! *fostered in Cedar Rapids* Togo came to us from Wichita Animal Shelter as a stray and was sadly placed on the euthanasia list a few years ago. We were able to pull him to safety, and he was adopted by a family who invested time and training into him. Unfortunately the family had to return him due to a move so he is back with us. Togo is a German Shepherd/Husky mix, possibly with a bit of Malamute. From the Shepherd side, he gets his loyalty and intelligence. The Husky in him brings the personality — a little dramatic and very expressive. His Malamute traits show in his calm, sometimes aloof, and strong-willed nature. Togo already knows sit and down and has been working hard on polite leash walking and keeping all four paws on the ground instead of jumping. He is also potty trained and kennel trained, giving him a great foundation for an easy transition into his forever home. Togo is a big boy who doesn’t always realize his size, so he could accidentally knock someone over. Because of this, a home without small children would be best. He is extremely friendly and thrives around other dogs. Togo currently lives at a doggy daycare/boarding facility and absolutely loves to play, making him a great candidate for a home with other canine companions. He would love to continue going to doggie daycare to help burn off energy and keep him busy. While he can clear a 6-foot fence, he hasn’t attempted to at daycare. In his forever home, he will need supervision outside, and having another dog friend could help keep him happy and engaged in the yard. Things to know about Togo: • He can jump — and clear a 6-foot fence — if left unattended • He does best with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation • He wants to be part of a family and included in daily life (and yes, spoiled a little!) Togo is full of life, love, and personality. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, devoted companion and are ready to keep up with this smart, active boy, Togo might just be your perfect match.

Meet Koda ❤️ *Located in the Des Moines Area* Koda is a beautiful 6-year-old brown German Shepherd with a gentle soul who is looking for a patient family to help her continue building confidence. She has a calm, low-energy personality and is happiest relaxing in the house or enjoying some quiet time in the backyard before heading back inside to her favorite spot by the door. Koda is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and has wonderful house manners. She sleeps loose in the home and enjoys spending her days collecting treasures like bones, stuffed toys, and other little items she discovers around the house. If there's a comfy place to settle down with a chew bone, she's one happy girl! She lives peacefully with a cat and even chickens, and while she's still a work in progress with other dogs, she has done well with a patient Goldendoodle who respects her space. Koda is not reactive to dogs when out and about and is very observant of everything happening around her. Because arthritis affects her mobility, Koda would do best in a home with minimal stairs. She'll also need a ramp to help her get in and out of vehicles comfortably. Despite these limitations, she still enjoys leisurely walks and exploring the yard at her own pace. Koda can be timid with new people and is especially sensitive to fast movements, often backing away or hiding if she feels frightened. A calm, understanding adopter who will let her build trust on her own timeline will help this sweet girl blossom. If you're looking for a quiet, loyal companion who simply wants a safe place to call home, Koda may be the perfect addition to your family. Brooklyn is a beautiful 9-year-old German Shepherd who is ready to find her forever family! This sweet girl loves her humans and has plenty to say—she’s a talkative girl who absolutely loves attention, affection, and being loved on. Brooklyn is good with both dogs and cats and doesn’t mind small children, as long as they understand how to respect her space and boundaries. She’s a wonderful companion who loves being around her people. She is potty trained and does well with her routine, but her family will need to make sure she gets outside to pee and poop regularly. If she doesn’t get the opportunity to go outside, she may have an accident. Brooklyn does have a torn cruciate ligament, but don’t let that scare you! This girl does NOT let it slow her down. She gets around fabulously and can go up and down stairs and on and off the couch. She may need a little help getting up onto the bed, although she’d honestly rather curl up on her favorite crib mattress on the floor anyway! Brooklyn is looking for a family who will love her for exactly who she is, give her a comfortable place to relax, respect her needs, and let her spend her golden years surrounded by love. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, talkative German Shepherd who still has plenty of life and love to give, Brooklyn may be your girl! 🐾

Stella is a 97 lb. spayed German Shepherd whose sweet nature matches her lovely name. Somehow, a healthy, well-behaved German Shepherd in the prime of her life found herself in the shelter — can you believe it?! Brought in as a stray, unfortunately her age is unknown but we’re guessing around 5 years. Stella needs slow introductions to people. She is in foster care, when meeting new people we recommend no touch no talk until Stella asks for attention. Once Stella accepts you, she is affectionate, friendly, calm, and eager for connection. She is a champion couch-cuddler who enjoys hanging out with her people. Stella is well-behaved when left home alone as well. She’s playful in a laid-back way, good with other dogs (even puppies!), and smart — she knows basic commands like sit and stay and learns quickly. Bruce is a 4 year old all black german shepherd dog. He's a goofball with a guard dog ego. He loves walks, tug of war, being chased, ear/belly scratches, playing with water (hose or shallow pool), chew toys, bones, flirt pole. He would love to sleep on your bed at night, but does well on the couch on his own. He was once kennel trained but has been free range for the past couple of years when we leave. He is reactive towards dogs and children. He cannot be in a household with either. He takes a little bit to warm up to new guests, but can be besties with anyone who will play or give a treat. Bruce will do best with an owner who has experience with German shepherds/working breeds and will be active with him. Bruce has EPI and has to take a pill before eating.
