Story
Erebos is approximately 6 years old. He is 90lbs. He is all black, with a little bit of a white belly and overall devastatingly handsome. He has the bark and the prey drive of a shepherd, but the goofiness and playfulness of a golden. He LOVES to snuggle up next to humans on the couch or in bed. Erebos needs a single person or couple with older kids and no other animals. He needs someone young enough that they won't be accidentally hurt by his size, but old enough to know how to work with a big working dog. He is a wonderful companion for someone where he can be the only dog, or with other big dogs where he can fold into the pack. He is unkind to dogs smaller than him. He was sold to us as a "lab mix" and turned out to be mostly GSD. We have tried for years to make it work in our family and with our other pets. He will be the best boy in the right environment.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie is a young German Shepherd mix male, around 3 years old.  He bonds quickly to people, and is a very smart dog so will respond well to an experienced dog owner who can provide him structure and positive guidance!  Louie knows lots of basic commands, he is neutered, housetrained and kennel trained. He does require a home with no children as he does have work to do on resource guarding behaviors.  He is friendly and playful with other dogs; but will resource guard without warning so may be best suited as an only dog in his forever home.  Ultimately, the best fit for Louie will be someone willing to devote time and patience to him, and they will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an amazing pup! No apartments or multi-family home settings for Louie please, and preferably a person within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA so as to continue to work with Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare for training help as needed.  Louie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus the assistance of Cedar Run for basic obedience training classes and resources.  Last Hope does require that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. This includes animals already owned by potential adopters. Our adoption process includes multiple opportunities for meet and greets, a vet history check and home visit as well as background and reference checks.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Miss Mavis-girl! This beautiful girl is a fan of everyone! First you're a complete stranger, the next moment she's your's & everyone's best pal! She has gotten along great with other dogs, cats, and kids, and lets ANYONE love on her. Mavis has even been taken on MANY outings, and done SO well. This darling girl knows all of her basics, is crate-trained, house-broken, AND has great family dog manners & skills, due to her previous, amazing owners! Mavis' favorite thing is 100% just having a companion person next to her! She would be content pretty much anywhere in the world, as long she's got a person by her side. This sweet girl is honestly pretty chill for only being a pup yet, at a little under a year old, and she surprises us by lying down to cuddle over everything else. That is, until the toys come out; then she's ready to get busy! We know she will make a great addition to just about anyone's home as she has such an amazing disposition. Mavis is quite honestly, amazing.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Stella is a 3 year old Shepherd/Heeler mix. She is a sweet dog who has a protective personality. This has caused her to exhibit what we refer to as "resource guarding". She is not an outwardly aggressive dog, but she has had issues in the past where she wasn't comfortable with the actions of a human that was in her immediate area. Stella does have a history of being mouthy to the point of breaking skin. We strongly feel that in the right environment, she will do wonderful. Stella would do best in a home with no small children or other animals. If you have an animal already in your home, we would require a slow introduction and possible several meet and greets to make sure it is a good fit. She loves walks and playing tugs and ball. Stella's adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, microchip and various other treatments. If Stella is the dog for you, please stop by the front desk or call 641-753-9046. Please don't count Stella out because of her history. Lets work together on her Furever instead!
