Thanks for the details! Based on this, we can craft a blog post that highlights Gunner's unique personality and his need for a loving home. Here’s a draft: --- Meet Gunner: Your New Best Friend in Need of a Loving Home If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, meet Gunner, a sweet and loving German Shepherd mix. Gunner is in search of a new family to call his own, and he's ready to show you just how much love he has to give. Gunner's Personality Gunner is a friendly, affectionate dog who thrives on attention and love. He's a true "clingy" companion who will always want to be by your side. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or out for a walk, Gunner will happily keep you company, giving you all the loyalty and affection he can muster. While Gunner is generally warm and loving, he does need time to adjust to new people and situations. Once he’s comfortable, though, you'll have a devoted companion who’s always there when you need him. A Few Quirks to Know About Gunner Like many dogs, Gunner has some quirks that make him all the more endearing: Sleep Startling: Gunner may startle when he's waking up or while he's asleep, so it’s important to approach him gently if he’s napping. Howling: Gunner may occasionally let out a howl, which is part of his personality and could be his way of expressing excitement or alerting you to something. Dog Selective: While Gunner loves people, he can be a bit selective about other dogs. He'd do best in a home where he's the only dog or with a dog he gets along with well. No Cats, Please: Unfortunately, Gunner doesn't get along with cats, so he needs a home where there aren't any feline friends. Gunner's Story Before arriving at the rescue, Gunner lived in a loving home where he was pampered and cared for. Unfortunately, due to his sleep-startling behavior and a baby on the way, his family made the difficult decision to rehome him to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. Why Gunner Needs You Gunner is a sweet, loving dog who just needs time and patience to adjust to new surroundings. His affectionate nature makes him a great companion for someone who’s willing to take the time to build trust and form a deep bond. Gunner deserves a home where he can feel safe and cherished, and he has a lot of love to give to the right family. If you're looking for a dog who will give you endless affection and loyalty, Gunner might be the perfect fit for you. Please consider opening your heart and home to this loving pup. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kato came to the shelter as an owner surrender due to rental property restrictions. He's a 2 year old German shepherd/pit bull mix. He's friendly, strong, and active. He's also really handsome! Just don't tell him that - we don't want it to go to his head. Kato has been vet checked, chipped, and neutered and his fee is $150. Kato has had some training and knows some basic commands. He does forget his manners sometimes as he's overwhelmed with enthusiastic affection. We do think he has the potential to do okay with a well mannered female dog. He should be okay with older kids. He's bright and eager to please and tries really hard to be a lap dog sometimes. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 8, 2026, 2:30 pm

Story
Tommy’s journey hasn’t been easy, but his heart is pure gold. Originally from California, this 2-year-old boy was once on the euthanasia list before a kind rescuer stepped in to save him. Tommy is already neutered, crate-trained (he won’t potty in his crate and does best if let outside right away). He was born with a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, which means he has limited vision. Sometimes when he’s nervous, he may circle or seem a little panicked, but a calm, guiding hand quickly reassures him. He also takes glucosamine for occasional joint stiffness. Tommy enjoys being outdoors and loves a good game of fetch, but when storms roll in, he prefers to be safe inside with his people. He thrives on attention and would do best in an active home without lots of obstacles or commotion. Tommy cannot live with cats or small dogs but would do wonderfully with a calm, confident female dog companion. Because of his special needs, prior breed experience and knowledge of caring for a blind dog are required. Tommy has come so far already and is ready to find a loving, patient forever home where he can continue to grow, thrive, and share his boundless loyalty.

She has adjusted beautifully. Rayni plays, rests comfortably, eats well, welcomes people, enjoys walks, and is doing great with pottying outside. She’s beginning to bond and naturally seeks connection. She has a very gentle temperament. Playful and responsive to voice tone (though she hasn’t learned a name yet), Rayni naturally stays close by when walking outside, which makes time in the yard easy and enjoyable. She may hesitate in unfamiliar spaces like the shed or garage, but she watches, follows, and builds confidence with reassurance. The pups can be left alone without whining, and while they enjoy playing together — with the occasional normal sibling squabble — Rayni shows she has her own quiet confidence. She doesn’t rely on another dog to feel secure. She is incredibly ready for training. Smart, quick to learn, and eager to please, Rayni responds beautifully to guidance. She loves to lay beside you and truly seems like a loving, steady dog who will be a joy to train and raise. Now is the perfect time to welcome her home and shape the future she’s ready for.   Name: Mollie Mae Age: 4 years Gender: female Breed: German Shepherd mix Weight: 66 lbs Dog friendly: yes, slow intros, please Cat friendly: no cats, please Child friendly: yes, older dog-savvy gentle children, please House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: Loving, intelligent, snuggly, playful ,loyal Requirement: Not rental  appropriate   Adoption Fee: $375+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html Mollie doesn’t just want a home — she wants a heart to curl up with. Mollie is one of the most devoted, affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet. She gently presses her head into your lap and rolls onto her side, quietly asking for pets and belly rubs. No matter her size, she’s certain she belongs close to her people, soaking up every moment of comfort and love. She’s beginning to learn how to play with her foster sister and loves curling up together on the couch. Mollie does best with slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, but once she feels safe, she settles in beautifully and becomes a happy part of the pack. While she adores staying right by your side, her playful personality is starting to shine. She’s discovering the joy of balls and squeaky toys, pouncing on them with puppy-like enthusiasm. One of her favorite activities is diving into the snow and spinning in joyful little circles. After her time in Alabama, it’s clear that Mollie is absolutely in love with the snow — and with the simple happiness of feeling safe, warm, and cared for.     February 9, 2026, 3:37 pm

She has adjusted very well since arriving. Fayni plays, rests comfortably, eats well, greets people, enjoys walks, and is doing great with pottying outside as she continues learning what’s expected. She is beginning to bond nicely with us. She has a fairly bold temperament — playful, curious, and brave, while still showing healthy caution in new situations. She responds well to voice tone (though she hasn’t learned a name yet) and is attentive and alert. When surprised, she may show some guarding or alert behavior, but she is responsive to guidance. Fayni can be left alone without whining or barking. She settles easily and rests quietly. She plays with her sister and can sometimes be the more dominant one — she is strong — but they interact well overall as friendly siblings. She appears eager to learn and willing to try new things. If she gets carried away, she responds quickly to a raised voice or even a simple hand clap. She strikes me as a pup who enjoys being challenged and is quite smart. Our cat corrected her once when she tested boundaries, and Fayni listened and backed off appropriately. With a firm, consistent leader, I’m confident Fayni will thrive. She has the potential to become a very obedient and well-conditioned dog with continued training and structure. She's scheduled to be spayed April 6th, 2026                 March 2, 2026, 8:14 pm
