Thanks for the details! Based on this, we can craft a blog post that highlights Gunner's unique personality and his need for a loving home. Here’s a draft: --- Meet Gunner: Your New Best Friend in Need of a Loving Home If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, meet Gunner, a sweet and loving German Shepherd mix. Gunner is in search of a new family to call his own, and he's ready to show you just how much love he has to give. Gunner's Personality Gunner is a friendly, affectionate dog who thrives on attention and love. He's a true "clingy" companion who will always want to be by your side. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or out for a walk, Gunner will happily keep you company, giving you all the loyalty and affection he can muster. While Gunner is generally warm and loving, he does need time to adjust to new people and situations. Once he’s comfortable, though, you'll have a devoted companion who’s always there when you need him. A Few Quirks to Know About Gunner Like many dogs, Gunner has some quirks that make him all the more endearing: Sleep Startling: Gunner may startle when he's waking up or while he's asleep, so it’s important to approach him gently if he’s napping. Howling: Gunner may occasionally let out a howl, which is part of his personality and could be his way of expressing excitement or alerting you to something. Dog Selective: While Gunner loves people, he can be a bit selective about other dogs. He'd do best in a home where he's the only dog or with a dog he gets along with well. No Cats, Please: Unfortunately, Gunner doesn't get along with cats, so he needs a home where there aren't any feline friends. Gunner's Story Before arriving at the rescue, Gunner lived in a loving home where he was pampered and cared for. Unfortunately, due to his sleep-startling behavior and a baby on the way, his family made the difficult decision to rehome him to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. Why Gunner Needs You Gunner is a sweet, loving dog who just needs time and patience to adjust to new surroundings. His affectionate nature makes him a great companion for someone who’s willing to take the time to build trust and form a deep bond. Gunner deserves a home where he can feel safe and cherished, and he has a lot of love to give to the right family. If you're looking for a dog who will give you endless affection and loyalty, Gunner might be the perfect fit for you. Please consider opening your heart and home to this loving pup. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kato came to the shelter as an owner surrender due to rental property restrictions. He's a 2 year old German shepherd/pit bull mix. He's friendly, strong, and active. He's also really handsome! Just don't tell him that - we don't want it to go to his head. Kato has been vet checked, chipped, and neutered and his fee is $150. Kato has had some training and knows some basic commands. He does forget his manners sometimes as he's overwhelmed with enthusiastic affection. We do think he has the potential to do okay with a well mannered female dog. He should be okay with older kids. He's bright and eager to please and tries really hard to be a lap dog sometimes. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 8, 2026, 2:30 pm

Story
Tommy’s journey hasn’t been easy, but his heart is pure gold. Originally from California, this 2-year-old boy was once on the euthanasia list before a kind rescuer stepped in to save him. Tommy is already neutered, crate-trained (he won’t potty in his crate and does best if let outside right away). He was born with a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, which means he has limited vision. Sometimes when he’s nervous, he may circle or seem a little panicked, but a calm, guiding hand quickly reassures him. He also takes glucosamine for occasional joint stiffness. Tommy enjoys being outdoors and loves a good game of fetch, but when storms roll in, he prefers to be safe inside with his people. He thrives on attention and would do best in an active home without lots of obstacles or commotion. Tommy cannot live with cats or small dogs but would do wonderfully with a calm, confident female dog companion. Because of his special needs, prior breed experience and knowledge of caring for a blind dog are required. Tommy has come so far already and is ready to find a loving, patient forever home where he can continue to grow, thrive, and share his boundless loyalty.

Name:  Linden Age: Young (DOB: 3/13/25)  Gender: Male Breed:  German Shepherd Mix Weight: 64 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: testing available upon request Child Friendly: Yes – older respectful children preferred House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Moderate / Low Temperament: Loving, cuddly, intelligent, playful, tender-spirited Home Requirements: Not rental  appropriate; companion dog in the home Adoption Fee: $400 + tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   Some of the bravest hearts are the ones that had the hardest beginnings. Meet Linden. Linden is a gentle, friendly, big ole teddy bear who’s still learning how to feel safe in a world that once failed him. He came from a 30-dog hoarding situation, where he lived in a barn with no heat and frozen water, relying on the kindness of strangers who donated food just to help the dogs survive. That kind of start would leave anyone unsure — and Linden is no exception. He’s scared of his own shadow some days, and he’ll need more time than most to settle into new surroundings. With Linden, patience isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. He thrives with people who move slowly, speak softly, and allow trust to grow at his pace. And when that trust finally takes hold, Linden’s goofy, tender heart shines through. Once he feels secure, his charm peeks out in the sweetest ways. He tilts his head at strange sounds like he’s trying to solve a puzzle. He loves stretching out on the couch, especially when he can snuggle his favorite stuffed bunny or frog. And when the zoomies hit or he does his clumsy little happy hops, he’ll give you that wide-eyed “please pretend you didn’t see that” look that makes him impossible not to love. Linden would  do well with a confident, friendly dog in the home. He watches other dogs closely and learns from their calm, reassuring cues — slowly discovering that the world can be safe, warm, and even fun. He’s looking for a calm, understanding home that celebrates small victories and offers steady reassurance. With time, kindness, and maybe a canine role model, Linden will reward you with quiet loyalty, soft snuggles, and the incredible joy of watching a once-scared pup discover confidence. Like the tree he’s named for, Linden represents quiet strength, healing, and protection. Linden trees are symbols of refuge — a safe place to rest after enduring hardship. With patience, kindness, and time, Linden will do exactly what his namesake promises: take root, grow strong, and offer unwavering loyalty to the people who give him a chance. If you believe the most tender souls deserve the safest harbors, Linden is ready to come home. February 1, 2026, 12:34 pm

Story
Kaiser is a beautiful 4 year old German Shepherd with a calm, steady presence and a wonderful temperament. He is well trained and knows how to settle nicely in the home, making him an easy companion who enjoys being close to his people. Kaiser has joint issues that will require ongoing management, including a home with no or very few stairs and proper pain management for the rest of his life. This is essential to ensure his long term comfort, quality of life and well being throughout his expected normal lifespan for a German Shepherd. Experience with German Shepherds or similar breeds is strongly suggested. Kaiser would thrive in a home that values routine, calm enrichment and quality time over high impact activity. Kaiser is ready for a home that will love him for who he is and prioritize his comfort and well being. Adoption fee is $350+ tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org
