Story
Meet George, a six year old German Shepherd with a heart every bit as grand as his handsome frame. This gentle giant was surrendered through no fault of his own, and he’s patiently waiting for someone to see what a treasure he truly is. George is smart, loyal, and eager to please—he’ll sit for treats, listen intently to your words, and gaze at you with the kind of devotion only a Shepherd can give. He’d prefer to be your one and only, but don’t worry—he has more than enough love to fill your whole home (and then some). This dignified fellow deserves to trade his kennel walls for a backyard breeze and a soft bed to call his own. Give George a chance, and he’ll prove that saving a dog doesn’t just change their life—it changes yours, too. By adopting me today you will save the life of two pets -- you'll save me and that will make room for the Shelter to rescue and save another pet.

Story
UPDATE! Meet Axel Foley. This sweet boy (along with his adopted sister, Luna) is up for rehoming by no fault of his own. His mom is brokenhearted that she can’t take her babies with her as she relocates. Axel was adopted from Wags nearly 5 years ago and was his owners first dog so he has been babied and is a momma’s boy. His DNA test states he’s a golden retriever/foxhound mix. He’s 5 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. Axel loves everyone and everything except storms and cats. He’s a very active and friendly companion. He would do best in a home with another playful dog (preferably his sister, Luna.) Axel thrives with snuggles, daily walks and some opportunity to roll in the grass and lie in the sunshine. Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
Logan is absolutely angelic with the girls and all humans he has ever met. He seems to want to contest his place with his older brother and they are too large for that type of drama. I think he would be the best puppy somebody has ever had if he was the only male (or something similar). He wants to try and fight my all black shepherd usually only when I am gone. It is as if they want to fight for who is in charge, even though they can’t feed themselves. He just needs another loving family. His shots were given just over one year ago

Story
Meet Rufus the Dufus! Age: 2–3 years | Weight: 84 lbs of pure chaos and cuddles Rufus didn’t have the easiest start — tied to a tree with a collar mark on his neck and fly bites on his ears — but now he’s living the good life and spreading joy (and occasional chaos) everywhere he goes. We think Rufus might be some kind of European German Shepherd mix — he’s got the tall, leggy build of a Great Dane, the classic Shepherd coloring, the face of a Malinois, and the skull of a Dutch Shepherd. Honestly, we’re not 100% sure what he is… but we are 100% sure he’s made entirely of love. This 84-lb goofball thinks he’s a lap dog. Recliner? Bear-hug central. Couch? He’ll wedge himself in like a furry human sandwich. Start petting him, and he’ll lean his full weight into you — a heavy, heart-melting lean that says you’re his person now. Toys? Balls, squeakers, or anything that rolls — he’ll chase it, trip over himself, and somehow still look majestic. Zoomies are his cardio, and clumsiness is his signature move. Rufus lives with a pack of big dogs — two GSDs, a Belgian Malinois, and a Dutch Shepherd — and he’s their self-appointed hype man. Cats? Curious and a little too excited. Kids? Instant best friend, guaranteed. He has no food aggression, doesn’t guard resources, and isn’t fazed by loud noises — vacuums, thunderstorms, fireworks? Snooze. Counter surfing? Guilty as charged. But call his name, and he’ll usually saunter away like a gentleman (with a side of sass). Car rides? Loves ’em. Walks? Harness preferred. Costumes? He once rocked an XL hotdog for Halloween like it was high fashion. Rufus the Dufus is the perfect mix of goofball, cuddle monster, and loyal companion — if you can handle the clumsy zoomies, heavy lean-ins, and giant bear hugs, he’s ready to fill your life with laughter and love. Rufus has another week and a half of vetting to complete, but we are accepting early applications for this handsome boy now! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi ! My name is Lola and I was just running loose in a neighborhood.  I don’t know how I got there . It was like I woke up from a dream and found myself in a strange place. The neighborhood kids took me in as if I was their girl .  They even gave me my name.   I walked them to the bus stop in the mornings and waited for them to get off in the afternoons. I love kids . I play well with other dogs . Tug of war is a favorite of mine . I love to play fetch with a squishy ball.  I am crate trained and do well inside . I know to not chew on household items .  I ride well in the car and even go off leash on walking trails.  I do not like baths lol  so I stay as clean as possible.  I only bark when necessary.  I weigh 53#.  if you are interested in adopting me and want more details contact my foster mom 251-599-2717.  She gives me the “GOOD DOG “ stamp of approval!!!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 13, 2025, 12:00 pm
