Story
Suzie is a 4 year old female German Shepherd mix. Suzie is a talkative love bug and wants all the cuddles she can receive. Suzie enjoys running the yard, playing with toys, and meeting new people. This intelligent lady loves to sit for treats, bacon flavored treats are her favorite! Suzie is heartworm negative and spayed, so she is able to go home and be forever spoiled today! Come adopt from the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM)! Each year HSSM houses approximately 7,000 homeless pets. Every day we are fighting a space capacity crisis as we try to care for the overwhelming amount of abandoned local pets. If you have a question about one of our adoptable animals, give us a call at (228) 863-3354, email adoptions@hssm.org or stop by from 10am-5pm Tuesday-Friday or 10am-4pm Saturday. Walk-ins stop 30 minutes before close. We are located at 2615 25th Ave in Gulfport. Come to our back parking lot through our adoptions entrance.

Tucker is such a wonderful dog! Due to some family issues I’m not able to give him the attention he deserves. He’s slightly trained, and does well with training.

Story
Brooklyn is a beautiful 9 month old Husky/Shepherd Mix who is smaller in size at around 45 pounds. She and her siblings were posted on facebook as needing rescue after being abandoned by their mom when they were just a few days old. This turned out to be a lie, but they weren’t in a good situation and needed rescue. One of our nursing mom fosters, who had lost several of her own puppies, took them in as her own until they were weaned. Brooklyn is an intelligent, athletic, and affectionate girl but it takes her a little while to trust new people. Once she does, she is attached for life and very loyal and will let you do practically anything to her. She is food motivated which will make training easy once a bond is formed and she loves her crate – in fact, she will put herself in it when she sees it’s getting time for her foster mom to leave for work. Brooklyn is housetrained via a dog door, but we’re pretty sure she’s fully housetrained. She currently lives with 8 other dogs of various ages and size (8lbs-80lbs) and is good with them but does require a brief introduction period – she can be a little bossy for the first 5-10 minutes. Brooklyn is great in the car and loves to go on walks – she could use a little work on the leash but mainly because she wants to chase everything that moves – but again, she is trainable with the right motivation. She seems to have a drive to please and learn new things as she is very attentive everything around her and really looks for guidance from her “person”/foster mom. At night, Brooklyn curls up close and sleeps soundly until you are ready to get up. We believe Brooklyn will do best in a home with another dog she can learn from and play with at her level, a person/family who is willing to take the time to earn her trust and help build her confidence, older or no kids and no cats because she does have some herding breed tendencies. If you are interested in meeting or knowing more about Brooklyn, please submit an application and her foster mom will be happy to reach out to you. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. All animals are currently in MS. Mississippi is overpopulated with too many animals, not enough adopters, and many high kill shelters. For Pet's Sake Rescue saves each animal from a different background.    ***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.***   For Pet's Sake Rescue transports animals to other states for better adoption potential. Our goal is to keep animals alive and out of kennels into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Each animal is quarantined and vetted during their time in our care. Each adopted pet is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and has current flea treatment unless otherwise noted.    You can visit our website at www.forpetssakerescue.org for our full adoption process and adoption application. Once we review your application and check your vet reference, we will contact you to proceed. If both parties agree to the adoption, we will send you an Adoption Contract with an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, your pet is "on hold" for you to pick up or we can transport the pet to a designated location closer to you via transport. Transports are arranged for specific dates. We will discuss these dates and locations with you during the initial phone call.    We are currently unable to adopt pets to MA and RI residents.   Any of our adoptable animals can be transported unless otherwise noted in their profile. Story
Trenton was pulled from a high kill shelter where his fate was grim. He has since been in a foster home with other dogs and children of all ages. He is housebroken. Trenton plays well with his foster dog siblings. He even sits at a barrier gate whining when one of his less social foster dog brothers is being grumpy. Trenton has some trauma in his past and can be extremely timid in the beginning. He will require a patient owner to baby him and understand that he comes around slowly. He is not aggressive, more of a cryer and cowers. Trenton does best in a household with another dog. Potential owner must have another dog in the household or adopt two at the same time. We will not adopt Trenton out as an only dog.    For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. All animals are currently in MS.
