Story
Meet Tessa - She is a young german shepherd mix who is one very intense girl! In order for Tessa to be happy and thrive in a new home, she needs a lot of mental stimulation, she is very focused and intense, high energy and confident. She would be a good working dog, as she is not your typical house dog. She also would need a fenced yard to keep this very active girl contained. She would do best as the only pet, she needs a lot of activity and exercise. She would not be a good fit with children under the age of 16.

Story
Zeus was born around August 20, 2018 and might top out in the 90 pound range once he's reached a healthy weight.  Zeus is with is because his human passed away.  Zeus is a very happy GSD and adores humans big and small but we are going to say no small kids because he doesn't know how big he is.  Zeus is wonderful with other dogs but he can not live with cats as they are just too much fun to chase. Zeus rides beautifully in the car and walks ok on a leash. He also hangs with you nicely off leash with an occasional reminder of calling him back.  Zeus is slightly weak in the back end and will need NSAIDS such as Rimadyl to keep him comfortable.  Zeus came to us with missing hair on his side from a flea infestation but it is growing back quickly.  Zeus is an incredible GSD, but please remember these XL breeds need lots of vet care at the end of their lives.  You must be prepared financially and emotionally to give this guy everything he deserves, he's so worth it and we love him already.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $450.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Marlene was born around March 24, 2025 and might top out in the 70-75 pound range when done growing. We did see Marlene's parents, and both strongly resembled GSDS, but please remember we are just going on what we are told. Marlene seems to be a very well-adjusted baby who will need normal puppy training but is very smart. We will be looking for a home with large breed experience to ensure this little cutie pie grows up to be the best family member she can be!  Oddly enough Marlene is missing one toe from one of her rear feet.  It doesn't bother her at all, we noticed while doing photos.  So, she is unique! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Troy was born about December 1, 2021, and is going to top out at about 95 pounds.  He came to us from dog control from a nearby town and the story goes that he was a 'garage dog' and somehow got away and the owner didn't have the means, or desire, to bail him out of doggie jail.  When he was first found he was a little underweight but packed on some pounds and now he is filled out and his is one, big, beautiful, boy!  He is fantastic with all the other dogs from the sassy Chihuahua to the elderly Rottie and he is having a blast chasing/playing with the other dogs of similar age and size.  Troy rides fine in the car and is fine on leash, but will hang with you in the country off leash.  He surely appears to be all GSD, but we have no proof so there may be a mix of something else in there.  He was easy going meeting us for the first time and happy to join everyone in our home.  We have a dog door open 24/7 and he quickly figured it out and seems to be house trained, he was probably 'garage' trained prior.  So far there is only one thing he needs work on and we are doing our best to turn this behavior around quickly and that is his infatuation with human food and with his height it is very easy for him to take what he wishes from the stove or counter.  Again, we are working on this, but it is likely a work in progress and work will need to continue into his next understanding and careful home.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Booker didn't have the best start in life, but we are determined to make the rest of it the best. Booker loves other dogs, but MUST be dogs his size or larger... no exceptions! He is kenneled trained and housebroken. He is still a little timid of men and kids. Older kids would be best. He will go up to new people, but disengages. Shows absolutely no aggression. He is still learning that he is loves and that he deserves attention. He would like a home on the quieter side. Someone that has patience. He is fantastic with his foster mom. He is being fostered on a farm and is great with most of the animals. He is still learning that sheep are ok and not to be chases. If you think you are the one to give this guy the life he so deserves, please submit an application. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, has been dewormed and flea treated. All current pets MUST be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason. www.pawzandpurrz.org RR335 Please Note: We are making changes to our Foster to Adopt process. Limited resources to follow up on pending adoptions and delays in processing payments is adding to our financial restrictions. Going forward we will collect payment when the dog is transferred to the potential new owner and will be held for an agreed upon trial time. Exceptions or extended trial times will be considered on a case by case basis and will depend upon the need or situation.
