Story
Meet Tessa - She is a young german shepherd mix who is one very intense girl! In order for Tessa to be happy and thrive in a new home, she needs a lot of mental stimulation, she is very focused and intense, high energy and confident. She would be a good working dog, as she is not your typical house dog. She also would need a fenced yard to keep this very active girl contained. She would do best as the only pet, she needs a lot of activity and exercise. She would not be a good fit with children under the age of 16.

Story
Booker didn't have the best start in life, but we are determined to make the rest of it the best. Booker loves other dogs, but MUST be dogs his size or larger... no exceptions! He is kenneled trained and housebroken. He is still a little timid of men and kids. Older kids would be best. He will go up to new people, but disengages. Shows absolutely no aggression. He is still learning that he is loves and that he deserves attention. He would like a home on the quieter side. Someone that has patience. He is fantastic with his foster mom. He is being fostered on a farm and is great with most of the animals. He is still learning that sheep are ok and not to be chases. If you think you are the one to give this guy the life he so deserves, please submit an application. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, has been dewormed and flea treated. All current pets MUST be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason. www.pawzandpurrz.org RR335 Please Note: We are making changes to our Foster to Adopt process. Limited resources to follow up on pending adoptions and delays in processing payments is adding to our financial restrictions. Going forward we will collect payment when the dog is transferred to the potential new owner and will be held for an agreed upon trial time. Exceptions or extended trial times will be considered on a case by case basis and will depend upon the need or situation.

Story
Sweetie was born about August 1, 2024 and will probably top out in the 70 lb. range when filled out.  She has had a loving environment growing up with an elderly woman with few resources.  Coming here, to us (an hour away) was only the second time she has been in a car and there was some drooling sickness.  She has been around few other humans with little outdoor play time and found comfort in friendship with the other 3# dog and several kitties, she was wonderful with all of them.  As for children we feel the noisy, toddling, ones might made her nervous as they do some of us humans, older kids should be fine.  As can be expected in new situations and around new humans she is  inexperienced and uncomfortable, but on entry when we sat on the floor with her the fear in her eyes and the stiffness of her body relaxed in a reasonably short time.  Sweetie has never growled or bitten no matter the circumstances she has been in and we were told she has a 'quiet and laid back' personality, but I'm guessing once she experiencing a more active, normal, lifestyle that she will enjoy it just like any normal,  young, GSD.  She is not used to walking on leash and the owner said she does pull, but we thought she did quite well (not perfect) walking in the driveway to the garage. She is said to be house trained.  She does enjoy chewing on appropriate things, but has never chewed anything inappropriate. Sweetie has been very healthy and has never seen a veterinarian in her life until she arrived here and we'll be doing all necessary health care to ready her for a new home.  Her owner was kind and even though Sweetie had to come here because she was losing her home and forced to move into an apartment that only allowed one cat she offered us some cash which we promptly denied as we explained that we are so very fortunate to have so many previous adopters along with many dog loving friends and supporters that we told her the most important thing is that she take care of herself and Joyful Rescues and our community of helpers would take care of her dogs.  Thank you all!  On we go..... Story
Zeus was born around August 20, 2018 and might top out in the 90 pound range once he's reached a healthy weight.  Zeus is with is because his human passed away.  Zeus is a very happy GSD and adores humans big and small but we are going to say no small kids because he doesn't know how big he is.  Zeus is wonderful with other dogs but he can not live with cats as they are just too much fun to chase. Zeus rides beautifully in the car and walks ok on a leash. He also hangs with you nicely off leash with an occasional reminder of calling him back.  Zeus is slightly weak in the back end and will need NSAIDS such as Rimadyl to keep him comfortable.  Zeus came to us with missing hair on his side from a flea infestation but it is growing back quickly.  Zeus is an incredible GSD, but please remember these XL breeds need lots of vet care at the end of their lives.  You must be prepared financially and emotionally to give this guy everything he deserves, he's so worth it and we love him already.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $450.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations.
