Story
Welcome Suds - who we affectionately named him after being found abandoned at a Texas car wash. This handsome little guy is between 3-4 months old and currently with a temp TX foster until he makes the trip up north so we can help him find his forever home. We think Suds is a German Shepherd dog mix and will likely be medium to large when fully grown. He is spunky and active and loves the resident dog - so he would do great in a home with another dog.  All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary. Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies. Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Please note we do not adopt animals into Canada. Visit www.pmarinc.org for more information, and to fill out an application. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Story
Have you always wanted a big, strong, and handsome man to protect and take care of you? Well, Kian might be the man for you. He is handsome in the classical way: soulful big brown eyes, gorgeous fur and a goofy side that will steal your heart. He loves naps, fetch, snuggles with his human, face licks, music, and car rides (all the best things in life). Sounds like he's a catch, right? Unfortunately, Kian was picked up as a stray, and was never claimed. Kian is a huge boy with long legs and a dopey expression. He currently weighs around 90 pounds! He's got big dog energy for days! We're looking for a strong and experienced adopter for Kian, someone who can handle his size and personality. It would be best if his new home didn't have children or other pets. Kian is an active dog, that would do well with space to run, and be able stuff to chew.Kian is a happy boy, but it takes him some time to warm up to strangers. He's currently in his teenage phase, so sometimes he can be a bit of a "button pusher," but he loves to learn new tricks and is always eager to please his walker. But wait, there's more! Kian is not just handsome, he's also a smart cookie! He knows to sit, drop, leave it, lay down, wait, and come! He's blossoming more and more each day and will go the extra mile for his adopter. So if you're up for the challenge and think Kian is the "project to perfect" dog for you, then please come visit us at the shelter!

Story
Chinook is an absolute sweetheart! He turned a year old on 02 January and he still has a lot of puppy energy. He is very tall and lean and the 60lbs are an estimated weight. His coat is rather short. When you look at him from the side or behind he seems like a very slim Shepherd, when you look in his face you clearly see the Husky. With both those breeds in his blood Chinook is medium-high energy and does need an outlet like hiking, running, lots of walks and playtime. Chinook is sweet sweet boy who truly has a very loving and gentle heart and soul. He LOVES to be loved, he will melt into you when you pay him attention. Of course he has puppy energy at only a year old and no training, but he is very eager to please and to learn. He loves having dog brothers and sisters to teach him. He's learning about chickens and that they are not toys, and to be respectful and careful around horses. He's great around cats, having lived with them in the Bethlehem Shelter, even if sometimes he might need a reminder to play gentle with them, but a simple "hey!" will do. For training purposes Chinook sleeps in his crate and will spend some time in it during the day (he needs to learn that there is no playing inside the house here, the dogs spend a LOT of time outside at the Rescue Ranch and get to drain their energy there, but once inside the house playtime is over, at least the crazy kind). Chinook has an interesting story: at a young puppy he was rescued from Gaza (yep, the one in Palestine) and taken to Bethlehem Shelter where he lived until he was flown to Canada. His first foster home in Canada for one reason or another didn't like him and passed him on (we have no details on that first home); the second foster home was a windowless basement apartment where he was locked up all day without walks. Apparently he became mouthy (with all that pent up energy and the family finally home, hurray) and they were going to euthanize him! So Bethlehem Shelter reached out to their European volunteers, one of which is a former work colleague of mine who reached out to me; transport arrangements were made and Chinook came to The Sweet Life on his birthday. I truly do not understand how anyone would even remotely think about euthanizing this adorable boy who is just a darling and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Dogs are living creatures and need exercise as much or even more than love and affection.

Angus's Adoption fee has been lovingly sponsored , ??Thank You Christine ??Angus has never had a single adopter intersted in him, he's just falling between the cracks of the shelter system. Soon he will be one of the long term residents who never receive a second glance .180 days have passed since this boy was left behind in Moosic and nobody ever called regarding his absence. He was just another left behind animal in a sea of others who has no sense of past and no hope for future .We have enough hope for all of them .Angus is a 5 year old shepherd mix . He's quirky and cute , a gorgeous brindle color and not overly large .Hes tested selective with other dogs and we will do a meet and greet with an approved application .You can apply to meet Angus and give him a chance at a forever family by applying here : https://www.cognitoforms.com/griffinpondanimalshelter1/griffinpondanimalshelteradoptionapplicationfordogsYou won't know until you try ??

Hey girl hey! My name is Starbies and I am everything but basic! I'm a gorgeous Shepherd/Lab mix who, lucky for you, is looking for a new furever friend! I'm about 2 years young and very energetic! In my perfect world, I would have an adopter who has energy like me as well as a drive to play fetch. I could literally play fetch all day long. Did I mention I'm great at bringing the ball back? Well I am! I would do best with teens in my home and no kitties or small animals please. So, anyway come break me out of the kennel and let's go get a pup cup!

Freya is a 9 month old high energy but fun shepherd malinois mix. We have been fostering her for another family member. The only thing that maybe a negative to some is that she barks anytime someone comes to our front door or just walks in unannounced. We have a 6 and 14 yr old and she has been good with both.
