Story
November is Adopt a Senior Dog Month! If you’re all about Netflix and chill Grace is your girl, because she is all about the chill! Miss Grace is an 8 year old spayed former family pet of a puppy mill breeder. She gets along with people, kids, dogs, & cats. This beautiful sweet, quiet & gentle lady just wants to hang, eat, enjoy lots of lovins & sit outside and take in nature. She’s in no hurry to go anywhere, walks great on a leash, and is fond of car rides as well. Grace was around children her entire life. She knows commands and also has a playful side; she loves to play catch! She gets along with people, other dogs & the resident cat in her foster home. Grace would be an excellent companion for an older couple as she is so mellow! Come and take this little lady home for the holidays!! Her foster mom says, “Grace is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to have in our home.” *Grace is in foster care. Meet & Greets can be arranged for approved applicants. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Sophie, a German Shepherd/Husky/Mystery mix arrived at NCCR 8/26/25, surrendered when her owner could no longer provide care for her and her babies. After a vet checkup, Sophie and her pups were put on a feeding and care plan to get them on the road to good health after being ill & malnourished, and all of them made a great recovery! With all her pups adopted into homes of their own, Sophie has since been spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and vet care and is ready to find a forever home of her own. She is sometimes just a little bit timid with strangers, but warms up very quickly once she realizes she is safe. Sophie is very smart! She enjoys going for walks and earning treats & praise as she learns new skills. She is house trained and seems to be dog-friendly with most other friendly dogs, too. She’s a shelter favorite! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your next step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Help Thelma and Louise Find Their Forever Home! Imagine waiting for years, hoping someone will choose you, only to be overlooked time and time again. This is the heartbreaking reality for Thelma and Louise, a bonded mom and pup duo who desperately need a second chance. These girls are absolutely gorgeous and incredibly sweet! Thelma, the loving mama, and Louise, her playful pup, have been through so much together and deserve a forever home where they can finally feel safe and loved. We don't know much about their past since we weren't their original rescue, but we do know they came to us completely emaciated-skin over bones. It took a solid month for them to slowly gain the weight they needed. Despite their struggles, they remained the sweetest girls, showing nothing but love to everyone they met. Thelma is very house trained and super friendly with everybody she meets. Louise, her loyal pup, is slightly shy at first but warms up quickly! They absolutely adore each other and must be adopted together. We will NOT separate them under any circumstances. Thelma needs a home with a solid privacy fence and no neighboring dogs. Louise just a sweet, loving pup who wants to be by her mama's side. We are committed to helping any potential adopters meet the criteria needed to create a safe space for Thelma and Louise. If you're willing to open your heart and home to these amazing dogs but are worried about meeting the requirements, Canine Partners is here to assist in any way we can. Story
Meet Thor, the German Shepherd/Husky mix with a personality as big as his name. What does that mean? Independence! This guy's independence runs so deep, he probably has his own Wi-Fi network. Thor loves people, but let's get one thing straight: he's not here to be your pet. He's here to be your partner. If you're an active person looking for a four-legged co-pilot, Thor's your guy. He needs plenty of space to run, but also a fence to keep him from raiding the neighbor's trash like a raccoon with a gym membership. Thor's cool with other dogs but hasn't had a long-term roommate before. He's still learning the subtleties of doggie diplomacy. He needs a laid-back sibling who loves to wrestle and snuggle but won't hold a grudge if Thor accidentally hogs the bed. Stubbornness? Thor's got it in spades, courtesy of his GSD and Husky heritage. He needs a person who understands that bribes, ahem, rewards, work wonders. Thor wants to please you, but only on his terms and timeline. Think of him as a furry negotiation partner. Our staff and trainers have put in countless hours helping Thor shake off his past and embrace his potential. He's now ready to find his forever human, preferably one with breed experience and a high tolerance for doggy independence. Thor is more of a man's dog but will graciously tolerate women if they meet his high standards of belly rubs and treat-giving. Think you're up to the challenge of being Thor's partner in crime? Apply now! -We only place dogs in homes that meet THEIR needs. -Be sure to visit our Facebook page for additional pictures and information on our rescues!
