Story
Charming Calvin arrived at NCCR on 4/21/26, a local pup in need of a loving family. He is thought to be between 2-3 years old, and is guessed to be a mix of German Shepherd and Aussie Cattle Dog, although he could have other breeds in his mix. Whatever his heritage, he is 100% Good Boy! Calvin walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, and has been friendly to everyone he has met so far. He may also be house trained, as he keeps a tidy kennel. Calvin is not a fan of baths, but otherwise he seems to be a pretty good sport about most things. He can be dog selective, but may be able to live with dogs he approves of. He seems all too familiar with dog houses, unfortunately he may have spent his former life tied up to one. This poor guy also came in with some seriously itchy & inflamed skin, but with a vet checkup, some medication, and healthier diet, he is on the road to recovery. Now all he needs is you!Check out our Facebook post on August 27th for a very sweet reel of Calvin! 🥰Calvin and cat testing: Calvin was very curious, got the impression he had never seen a cat before. He was not growly or aggressive to his credit. However, he did try to hold the cat down to sniff him out better, but there was no aggression or hissing on either part. Definitely would not leave him alone with a cat until they are more comfortable.*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he is a great fit. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them.
