Story
Izzy is a 5 year old female AKC Blue GSD. Izzy is a former breeder who just wants lovin’s. She is housebroken and is working on her commands. Izzy is very sweet, quiet, friendly, and just wants to be with her human. She gets along well with other dogs, but is not compatible with cats. If you’re looking for a wonderful companion & friend, Izzy is your girl!. Izzy requires a fenced yard, a confident resident dog, someone who isn’t gone long hours, and has experience with German Shepherds. *Izzy is in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged for approved applicants. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day. Thank you! We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028 Date of Arrival: January 2026 Breed: German Shepherd Age: 5 years old Health info: Izzy is now spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Story
Sophie, a German Shepherd/Husky/Mystery mix arrived at NCCR 8/26/25, surrendered when her owner could no longer provide care for her and her babies. After a vet checkup, Sophie and her pups were put on a feeding and care plan to get them on the road to good health after being ill & malnourished, and all of them made a great recovery! With all her pups adopted into homes of their own, Sophie has since been spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and vet care and is ready to find a forever home of her own. She is sometimes just a little bit timid with strangers, but warms up very quickly once she realizes she is safe. Sophie is very smart! She enjoys going for walks and earning treats & praise as she learns new skills. She is house trained and seems to be dog-friendly with most other friendly dogs, too. She’s a shelter favorite! *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. Story
King is 1 year old. He is crate trained and has had a gastropexy. He needs an owner who has the time to train him. He doesn't realize how big he is so I wouldn't recommend kids. Although, he lives with two kids and loves their attention but he gets excited and tries to jump on them so I don't recommend kids. He can be mouthy but he's still young where with training it will help stop that habit. He loves head and belly rubs. He really can be so sweet and is very food motivated but I no longer have the time to work with him. I have no doubts that he will be such a good boy with someone who has the time and dedication for him. He lives with a cat but the cat doesnt like him. He has never done anything to make me think he will harm her. He's been to doggy daycare but gets overstimulated and doesnt know manners yet so he became too much for the other dogs. He takes a bit to warm up at first and gets overstimulated easily but he loves attention. He is really intelligent as well.
