Story
Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you. We have a cost effective transporter that has stops in most north eastern states. She runs every 2 weeks. Please note! Don't just apply just because she has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time!Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained,This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to apply. You can get that on our main website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Roscoe, a large shepherd mix who is 8 years old. He currently weighs 67 pounds. He came from animal control. When he was picked up he had massive hair loss due to being shaved and to allergies not being treated. Also he had severe infections in both ears and was underweight. After several months of care, healthy food and meds Roscoe's fur is coming back. There is one bald spot left under his neck. With his fur returning he has the cutest mutton chops (bush sideburns). He is blooming into a beautiful dog.    Roscoe will do well if his forever family or person were at home alot or could take Roscoe with them. He has separation anxiety. He will bark continuously with his Booming voice. He would do okay with another dog but Roscoe has a large, solid frame and can be a bulldozer (plays hard).    Roscoe is a sweet, loving dog who wants someone to be with him, to love and pet him. His favorite things are being petted and adored, meal times, treats and rides in the car. He rides in the backseat great but sometimes he likes to ride upfront.    Roscoe's needs include:  * Daily walks. He has high energy that needs to be walked.  * Forever Family or Person who will make Roscoe Family and make time for him. * Fenced yard for play and bathroom needs * To be only petVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 2:46 pm

Story
Our pets are fostered and physically located in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can deliver to your location or one of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a transporter who delivers north ever other week. Sheldon came from a local shelter. They were over full and he was in danger of being euthanized. He is a german shepherd mix. The vet said he is around 2 years old( as of 6-22-23). He is a tall lanky dog, around 65 to 70 pounds. He is a sweet boy and very affectionate. He needs a home with room to run. He is energetic and would need an adopter who can embrace it. He will make THE BEST hiking buddy ever. He likes water to. He would be best in a home where he can be the only dog. If he can't be an only dog he needs a home with a large breed submissive female. He would also do well with puppies. He is doing well with crate training and house training. He will go to his new home current on vaccines, testing, preventives, neutered and microchipped. He will receive a complete physical by our vet prior to going home. He will also be issued a certificate of Health. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a pre screen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Our pets are ALL fostered and physically located in Mt.Airy, North Carolina until adopted. Once adopted we can transport the adopted pet to your location or to any of our northeastern delivery points. We have a cost effective transporter that runs every other Friday. Gretel came in with her brother Hansel. Both were emaciated and in rough shape. She is now getting up to par and gaining weight. Gretel is around 2 years old according to our vet. She is sweet and pretty laid back. She is very affectionate and she is great with people. She is good with other dogs. She LOVES to ride in the car. She will load her self up willingly. She is potty trained and will even use pee pads. I would like to keep her and her brother Hansel together. I will discount the combined adoption fee if adopted together. She is spayed and had all her shots, current on heart worm testing(negative) and on preventive, and microchipped. The adopter will get all her medical records with adoption. We require an adoption application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Hansel came in with his sister Gretel. Hansel was in pretty bad shape when he ended up at the shelter He had a leg injury and he was emaciated. He is on the right track now. His leg is healed and he is gaining weight. He is a super sweet goofy boy. The vet said he is around 2 to 4 years old but he is closer to the 2 mark he assumes. Hansel loves people. He is good with children to but due to his size and the fact he is an active dog he would be best in a home with older children. He does not like cats. He is great in the house and he is potty trained. He will even use pee pads if needed. If I had to note any "cons" about him it will be the fact he pulls hard on a leash. That is easily corrected, and he is very trainable. He loves riding in the car and will load up willingly. If you are not familiar with german shepherds please be aware they shed badly. So if you do not want to deal with hair do not apply to adopt one. I would love to keep Hansel and Gretel together if possible. I would give a discount if adopted together. Hansel would do better in a home with another large breed female if he can't go with his sister. He is neutered. had all his shots, current on heart worm testing(negative) and on preventive, and microchipped. The adopter will get all his medical records with adoption. We require an adoption application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Found as a down-on-his-luck stray, this boy was so very thin and bedraggled. It has been a pleasure to watch him transform into a healthy & handsome dog. He is most eager for food and treats still, so no small children, please. And, would not recommend feeding or giving treats with other dogs. Definitely cannot leave him alone in a kitchen or with food out! He will counter surf; so, crate him when not at home or supervised...But, his extremely sweet, intelligent demeanor makes for such a lovely companion...He's happiest being right beside someone; a real velcro dog, so do not contact us unless you enjoy a velcro dog right next to you all the time!...Love to see him prance on a walk; has a light-footed gait. This lovely, big boy is sad and bewildered...He was found next to his older, deceased owner, licking her face:( He's been accustomed to a large, fenced property with a pond, so a fenced yard is a must. Am told that he is not good with cats or small dogs. He has not been around children, so older kids only, please. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Poppy is a 9 week old Belgian Malinois/Dutch Shepherd mix, we think?  She currently weighs 11 pounds.   We got her from the animal shelter when she wasn't adopted.  Poppy is the sweetest dog with such a great personality.  She will grow to be around 60+ pounds.   We have spent a lot of time trying to figure out her breed since we have no idea who her parents were.  She has the pointed ears like a shepherd, she is brindle in color which means she could be dutch shepherd??  Her legs aren't too long so she could have some Corgi in her, but either way she is going to be a medium sized dog.   It is so easy to fall in love with Poppy, she will make someone's  family the best companion ever!!!!   If you would like to meet Poppy please fill out an application from our website.  Fenced yard is required for playtime.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 2:46 pm
