Story
Gracie was aquired by adoption from the county dog pound. She is roughly 1 to 2 years old. She has energy that we cannot accomodate with our busy schedules. Gracie is good about letting you know when she needs to go out, but loves her inside comforts. Very good with kids and other animals in general, sometime a little too playful. She is an excellent guard dog and will let you know if someone is at your house unexpectedly but can be quieted be reassuring her the people are friendly. She will eat anything, but has her preferences. Really not for first time pet owners and would prefer her to have a companion with space to play.

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Zara! This stunning dog could be a super-model if only her tongue wasn't hanging out the side of her mouth all the time. Zara is the sweetest goofy brown-eyed beauty who will melt your heart with her affectionate puppy love, kisses, and cuddles. She is literally a hugger and gives the best of them. It will take her all of one second to quickly become your shadow and loyal sidekick. She is very playful, highly energetic, and absolutely loves to chase squeaky balls. She would thrive best in an environment where she has space to run and exercise as she has a lot of energy to burn (as most shepherds do.) She enjoys belly rubs, reward treats, and car rides although she most likely will want to ride shotgun... or maybe even just drive the car. Baths are not her favorite, but she obliges until the daunting task is over. Zara is friendly with other dogs but is a bit of a barker and sassy with them at times and likes to be up in the action. She would do well in a household with other dogs or without. The other dogs would just need to be accepting of her over-zealous disposition. Zara will make the best companion for a household and be your best buddy. Let's get her where she belongs. Apply Today! If you're interested in adoption, the first step in our adoption process is to submit an online application from our website, www.dashanimalrescue.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 17, 2024, 1:30 pm

Story
I adopted Shay from Greene County Animal Control in Xenia, OH 2 years ago. She is between 4 and 5 years old and weighs 51 pounds. I need someone who has the ability and time to do some training with her. She has reactive/aggressive behavior to other dogs. She has never injured other dogs, but definitely shows her dominance. The best situation would be someone who is familiar with this behavior and has the time and energy to train her. She has been an inside dog but does love the outdoors. Her favorite thing is chasing after a ball. She would do this for hours, which is why a fenced yard would be best so that she can run free to catch a ball thrown to her. And, she brings it back to you!
