Story
Meet Sasha! 🌟 At just 3 years old, Sasha has already overcome so much. She was picked up by Franklin County in April after being hit by a car on I-670, suffering pelvic and hip fractures. But this brave girl didn’t let that stop her! 💪🐾 She’s fully healed and runs, plays, and enjoys life to the fullest. Sasha’s a spayed German Shepherd with a big heart and a big personality. She’s smart, protective, sometimes silly — and absolutely devoted once she bonds with you. She loves a good game of tug, chasing Jolly balls, and keeping watch over her yard like a true Shepherd queen. 👑 Her foster mom says Sasha has come a long way with patience, structure, and training. She’s working with trainer and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. She needs someone experienced who understands the strong, loyal spirit of a GSD. ✅ Crate trained ✅ Great in the yard with a secure fence ✅ Sweet, affectionate, and hilarious once she trusts you 🚫 Best in a home without small kids or small animals Sasha’s perfect match? Someone who loves the Shepherd energy — confident, consistent, and committed to her continued growth. 🐕‍🦺💛 Trainer Brian has even offered to help with her transition and continued training for her adopter! If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal companion who’ll give you her all, Sasha is waiting. 🏡💖

Story
Meet Costata! This adorable little lady is ready to find her fresh start with a furever family. Costata is spunky, playful, and simply adorable! She appears to be potty trained and knows some basic skills including "sit", "shake", and "drop it". She is very food motivated, and will do anything for a tennis ball! Costata is still a little nervous with strangers, especially men, so she is looking for a family that will give her time to warm up. Once she is comfortable with you Costata is simply perfect, and will follow you everywhere! She has done well with other dogs. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Costata home. If you are interested in meeting Costata, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Meet Sunny! Poor Sunny has had quite the traumatic life so far. He came to us as an extremely emaciated stray, weighing a measly 14lbs. After finding himself in the middle of a court case for months, Sunny has grown up in the shelter instead of in a loving home. Thankfully puppies are pretty resilient, and Sunny is ready to put his past behind him. He is a happy, outgoing guy who has bounced back entirely and looks better than ever. Sunny is a typical Shepherd; he is energetic, bouncy, and always ready for an adventure! He loves to play with other dogs, though he can play rough and would appreciate doggy friends that will tolerate his wrestlemania lifestyle. After growing up in the shelter Sunny is going to need to learn things like potty training and household manners, but he is a very driven boy and we expect him to learn quickly. Sunny has never met a stranger and adores everyone, he is ready to be your new best friend! If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Sunny home. If you are interested in meeting Sunny, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Meet Loki 🐾 Loki is a 3-year-old German Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix with a gentle heart and a sweet, affectionate personality. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his loving side really shines. Loki has spent his life as an outdoor dog, so he’ll need a patient home willing to help him learn how to be an indoor companion — including house manners, routines, and basic obedience. With consistency and kindness, he has so much potential to blossom. His previous owner says he is wonderful with children. However, Loki would do best in a home without cats. Loki loves other dogs. And would love to have a canine sibling. Like most of his breed mix, Loki has plenty of energy and will thrive with regular exercise, mental enrichment, and continued training. He’s a smart boy who’s ready to learn and eager to please — he just needs someone to give him a chance.

Story
Meet Thor 🐾 Thor is a 3-year-old German Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix who is as sweet as he is handsome. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up, he becomes a very affectionate and loyal companion. Having lived as an outdoor dog, Thor will need a home that can offer patience and guidance as he learns what it means to live indoors — from house training to everyday manners and structure. He’s a good boy who simply hasn’t had the opportunity to learn yet. According to his previous owner, Thor does great with children. He will need a home without cats. We are currently unsure how Thor does with other dogs, but he will be heading out to play groups soon. His bio will be updated once we learn more. Thor is energetic, intelligent, and eager to stay busy, just as you’d expect from his breed mix. Daily exercise, enrichment, and obedience training will help him thrive and build confidence.

Story
Hazard is a handsome male German Shepherd who was brought to the HSOV on October 24, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden along with Moose (a male Mastiff) who had also shared his home. Hazard was approximately 9-years old at that time. He and Moose had been kept in safe-keeping custody. Both boys are now available for adoption since their owner surrendered Hazard and Moose to the dog warden/HSOV on September 3, 2025. Hazard has a blond medium-haired smooth coat, a long bushy tail, and a beautiful German Shepherd face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, a chocolate brown nose, and extra-large erect ears. Hazard and Moose have shared a large suite in our Safe-Keeping Building since their arrival where they have access to a private outdoor 'patio'. His owner reported that Hazard is NOT good with cats. Hazard underwent surgery on January 15th 2025 for the removal of a couple of masses on his lower back. He was also neutered and given rabies vaccine while under anesthesia. Hazard is a fairly big boy who weighed 77 lbs on October 24, 2024. Hazard and Moose are being listed as a Bonded Pair since we feel that it it is their best interest to find another home together. These updated photos of Hazard were taken on September 28, 2025. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard for accompanying Hazard for more flattering outdoor photos. Since Hazard and Moose are so bonded with each other, Jennie and HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos teamed up to walk the boys together from their 'bachelor pad' in the Safe Haven Building so that they did not have to be separated from each other. Both Hazard and Moose have extra-friendly dispositions and super-sweet personalities. They were in 'seventh heaven' during their photo session and loved being showered with attention from Jennie and Angel. Their previous owner shared this information about Hazard and Moose: "They are amazing and sweet dogs!!! They love cuddles and treats!!! Hazard aka Hazzy is extremely scared of thunderstorms, loves raw green and red bell peppers, they both love watermelon. Hazard loves balls, and squeaky toys. Moose has one stuffed animal which he has loved all his life and you can get it at chewy, because it gets gross and will need replaced after being washed a hundred times. Hazard is a big talker, Moose is very laid back and quiet. They are quite the odd couple, but love each other dearly!!! They are the best dogs in the world!!!"
