Story
This handsome pair of male German Shepherd dogs were found on Barth Road in the Belpre Ohio area and had been wandering around that neighborhood for awhile. Thanks to a Good Samaritan who gained their trust, they were brought to the HSOV on November 3, 2023. Neither of these guys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Our kennel techs have dubbed them Comet & Vixen. Comet is estimated to be 5-6 years old. He has a brown/tan coat with subtle dark brown/black shading, a long tail, and a classic German Shepherd face with black shading on his muzzle and extra-large ears which he holds erect. Comet weighs 71 lbs. Vixen is estimated to be 2-3 year old. He has dark brown coat, a long tail, and an adorable dark brown face with black shading on his muzzle, and large ears that he usually holds in a semi-erect position. Vixen weighs 54.2 lbs. Comet & Vixen were somewhat of a comedy team at times during their photo session. HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Comet while HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver escorted Vixen for their outdoor pictures later in the afternoon on November 3rd. Both Comet & Vixen have friendly, playful personalities and were a pleasure to watch (and photograph) them together. These big boys loved attention from Jared & Emily. We managed to capture a couple of pictures of the boys together .. Comet was quite the clown when he made multiple efforts to photo-bomb Vixen's individual pictures (so we've included a few of those 'bloopers'). We will also post individual photos of Comet & Vixen. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Comet & Vixen will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. We've learned that Comet is actually Vixen's biological father. UPDATE: Comet and Vixen were neutered on November 14, 2023 and were also given rabies vaccine. Comet was adopted by their foster family on November 15th. But they changed their mind about adopting Comet's biological son Vixen. So Vixen is still looking for a fabulous home.

Story
Vixen is an adorable 2-1/2 year old male German Shepherd/possible Belgian Malinois mix who was found on Barth Road in the Belpre Ohio area along with his best friend (Comet). These boys had been wandering around that neighborhood for awhile and befriended a kind family who made sure they did not go hungry. Thanks to a Good Samaritan who gained their trust and kept them safe, they were brought to the HSOV on November 3, 2023. Neither of these guys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Vixen has as dark brown coat, a long tail, and an adorable dark brown face with black shading on his muzzle, and large ears that he usually holds in a semi-erect position. Both Vixen & Comet have friendly, playful personalities and were a pleasure to watch (and photograph), Much to our delight, they were somewhat of a comedy team at times during their photo session. HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver escorted Vixen and HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Comet for their outdoor pictures later in the afternoon on November 3rd. Both of these big boys loved attention from Emily & Jared. Vixen appears to be the loving 'little brother' type who looks up to Comet for comfort/security. Vixen weighs 54.2 lbs and is the smaller of the pair. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Vixen & Comet will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. If they are not reclaimed, we'd love to see Vixen & Comet adopted together.

Story
This beautiful pair of one-year old German Shepherd mixes were brought to the HSOV on December 15, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who found them on State Route 339 in the Beverly Ohio area (close to the Washington County/Morgan County Ohio line). Our HSOV Kennel Techs have named them Heat Miser (male) and Snow Miser (female). Unfortunately they were not wearing collars, and they were not microchipped. Heat Miser has a black-and-tan coat, a long tail, and a handsome face with a tan mask, expressive brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. Heat Miser weighs 44 lbs. Snow Miser has a snow white coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a black button on her long slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. Snow Miser weighs 38 lbs. Both of these overgrown puppies have friendly dispositions. They are understandably pretty frightened youngsters after finding themselves in an unfamiliar place with people that they don't yet realize are their new best friends. Neither of these best friends/siblings appear to have had any leash training, but they are intelligent youngsters who will quickly master that new skill. Thanks to HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers and HSOV Volunteer/Board Member Tracy Lynn for teaming up to take Heat Miser and Snow Miser together for their photo sessions on December 16th. Heat and Snow were still apprehensive but definitely more comfortable with each other by their side. We will also post additional individual photos of this beautiful pair. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Heat Miser and Snow Miser were held for three days so that their family would have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for them. UPDATES: Snow Miser was spayed on April 2, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Heat Miser was neutered on April 2, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.
