Story
My name is Bella Mia and as you can see, I am a beautiful golden girl that smiles and welcomes everyone I meet with an open heart of friendship.  I am a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix that is obviously going to be large and just bigger to love.  They say I was born around February 11, 2023 and for sure I am still very much a puppy even though I weigh 76 pounds.  They whisper behind my back and say that “she is a very smart girl” and that makes me want to be even smarter.  I try to keep my sweet personality showing out there 24/7 even though I am competing for attention from my other large and in charge siblings.  I am learning things but my foster family is busy and they are just maintaining good care for me and my large siblings.  I have energy to burn and I need a fenced yard to run in and someone that will focus on teaching me.  I need a loving and training oriented family who loves to bring a dog from A to Z status.  I survived a very tough start in life and am one of 12 siblings.  Only six of us survived.  I like fun, lots of activity and the hustle and bustle of family.  I need a fenced yard that is 6 ft. tall and it would be best to have me with children who are over 8 years of age because of my large exuberant size.  I am a well-rounded girl that will make your home much more Fun and loving.  If you are interested in making me a part of your life, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Easy Ryder is like his name, an 'easy'  two year old German Shepherd boy that would love to join Peter Fonda on a motorcycle ride.  This boy loves to go, go, go and he's a ton of fun and a super  playful boy.  He is good with children, other dogs, but no cats unfortunately.  He’s a great car “rider”, loves his walks, and he loves hiking into the mountains.  He’s 70 pounds of all muscle, great health and good hips.  No issues whatsoever with health or dog habits and is UTD on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, HW prevention. He’s one healthy lover of a dog. Please contact ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He's in Tennessee but can transport north.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Active Axel is a handsome golden male German Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees mix who was born on February 11th, 2023 and is still a puppy in every way. He is one of six siblings that survived from a litter of 12. Our guy Axel weighs approximately 90 lbs, and is very GSD smart loving to be next to his humans.  This huge puppy is full of energy and he will fit perfectly in a home where there is a lot of activity, a fenced yard and people who love the BIG DOGS! He really likes walking, hiking, and just a ton of fun with activity. He also loves water and treats the water trough as his own personal spa. We recommend a home with a fence that is a minimum of 5 feet tall.   We do not suggest he go to a home with small children, or farm animals simply because he has no experience with them.  He hangs with his siblings and does well playing with them and also just enjoying their company.  He does need to eat separately for dinner as he protects his food from the other dogs due to early starvation. Handsome Axel is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped and he is kennel and crate trained for quiet time.  This boy needs some time and attention from a caring and dog savvy owner.  He would love to cuddle with you and be your adored companion.  He has such potential…..such love and such a need to grow and evolve into a fine companion in life.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in this big baby!  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Look at this gorgeous German Shepherd mix boy named Trent and don’t take your eyes off of him because he is a WINNER!  This boy is only 7 months old and weighs 42 pounds and was found with his brother and sister as abandoned pups in a very rural area right on a highway.  They were in great danger.  Trent is around children, other dogs and would be fine with cats as well.  This boy is shy and has not had many worldly experiences up till now.  If you have looked for a special German Shepherd to rescue then this boy is the one to help!  He will be a 75 pound boy when fully grown and we feel he is 80% Shepherd if not 100%.  We just don’t know for sure. This boy is not housebroken…never been inside to have the chance…he is loving…he is handsome and calm and has all the potential in the world to be a wonderful family companion. Do you want to rescue a dog?   Well Trent most certainly needs someone to finish the task that Critter Cavalry Rescue started.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Brock is a very handsome German Shepherd mix pup that is guessed to be a 6 month old that weighs 42 pounds.  This boy was found with his siblings with an apparent abandonment that took place near a busy rural highway.  They were in such danger of getting run over as they wondered aimlessly looking for food and friendships from people.  Brock is smart, loving and very open to being friends with all other creatures and humans.  He has a happy personality and  his foster mom is trying to teach him leash manners, shaking hands, sitting and just being a mannerly teenage pup.  This boy is destined to be a 75 boy we believe and he will be one HANDSOME family member with good looks and brains to match.  Good with cats, dogs, and children!   Step up and claim this German Shepherd mix boy. We are not sure if his ears will reach the full attention  of standing up but they sure are trying hard!!!!   Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Mars is in URGENT need of rescue.  He is a GSD that has been in a very small and out of the way rural shelter for over 3 months and everyone around that shelter has too many dogs already.  He has been cooped up in a 4 X 6 kennel on a concrete floor during the cold of winter and no heat at the shelter.   He is going a little stir crazy.  He plays with other dogs in the play yard but he is a little fearful of new people.  Cautious is the word that best describes him.  The German Shepherd breed is born with a cautious and guardian/working nature.  He is in an unnatural environment and it is crushing his soul.  If you would like to offer a lifeline to this boy named Mars, 2-3 years old and 70 pounds, please DO NOT WAIT.  We are afraid that he will crash and then he will be euthanized as the result of being so confined and limited and left with a feeling of abandonment.  Critter Cavalry Rescue will pay for ALL HIS NEEDS!  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com ASAP> PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 9, 2024, 1:50 pm

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - PEACHES BREED - Shepherd Mix SIZE - About 30 pounds AGE - 5-6 years GENDER - Female MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Peaches is a lovely girl! She came to us recently when her owner, one of our beloved volunteers, passed away. Originally found as a stray, Peaches was a loved pet and is now adjusting to being in our kennel while a new family is found for her. Our vet feels Peaches is likely 5-6 years old, and some mix of shepherd and something much smaller. She is a 30 pound dog at a healthy weight. Peaches loves people and loves to play! She is very focused on her toys and having someone to share them with! We would love to find her a home with a young, active adopter who can provide a secure home and yard, and lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She is a perfect size for most homes! Peaches is in good health, spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Peaches is not well suited to small children or very small dogs who could be upset by her enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - SCOOBY BREED - German Shepherd SIZE - About 86 pounds AGE - 4 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Scooby is a fun-loving happy dog. that is a joy to be around! He is a big guy, expected to be 90-100 pounds at a healthy weight. He was underweight when he arrived, but we are working to help him fill out with beneficial lean weight. Not only is Scooby a great looking dog, he is super sweet and very playful. Given his size, he will be best suited to a home with active adopters capable of handling large dogs. Scooby is learning good leash manners and is eager to please. Scooby loves playing with people and with balls. Physical and mental exercise is good for boys like him. He is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, but he tested positive for heart worms. Because he is asymptomatic, we have begin a soft kill method of eradication that is inexpensive and easy to maintain. One dose, once a month, and Scooby should test negative within 10-12 months. A perfect dog deserves a perfect home! So we are seeking a home with an active adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with this amazing dog! A home with a fenced, secure yard will give Scooby room to run and play securely, and maybe even teach his adopter a thing or two about playing ball! Scooby is not well suited to small children or smaller dogs who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Story
Petra is a 4yr old German Shepard mix who we got from a friend to save from a pound. She is a very high energy dog with tons of love to give and a passion for food. Petra has a very silly personality, she thinks sit means lay down and will stick her butt up or flop onto her back anytime pets are offered. We love her so much but, she needs a home with lots of room to run and play without other dogs. Outside of the home she is well socialized with other dogs and goes to daycare, in the home she may get jealous of your time. We also suggest a home without very small children, Petra is 80lbs and can be very hyper. Petra is house and crate trained and very smart.

Story
Meet Otis, approximately 10 year-old German Shepherd mix who has mastered the art of looking sad but has journeyed from a difficult past to a hopeful present. His story is one of remarkable transformation, resilience, and the power of love. When Otis first arrived in our care, he was in dire shape. He was a shadow of the dog he was meant to be: hairless, terribly thin, and visibly depressed. It was a heartbreaking sight. But with a lot of care, including lab tests, medications, special baths, and extra meals, Otis began to reveal his true self. He blossomed into a dog truly recognizable as a proud shepherd mix complete with a new fuzzy coat and a healthy physique.Throughout his recovery, Otis has shown nothing but love. His affectionate nature shines through his once-sorrowful eyes. He's great with other dogs of all sizes and adores people, loves kids, prefers home with no cats.  Despite his sad eyes that he uses to get treats and love, Otis is actually a happy, sweet pooch. Otis's foster mom has seen his incredible transformation firsthand and thinks the world of him. He's turned into a well-rounded dog, friendly with everyone—except goats! Otis has his quirks, like barking during bath time or when crated at first but settles quickly. These quirks only add to his charm.  This once bald, skinny dog is now ready for the next chapter of his life. We're seeking a perfect, goat-free home for Otis—a place where he can continue to flourish and receive the love he so richly deserves. Otis's journey has been a rocky one, but ahead lies a path filled with love and care.Adopt Otis and be a part of his incredible journey. Give our boy the happy ending he's been waiting for and experience the joy of watching him thrive. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##1815402##
