Story
Meet Sasha & Santana – Young, Loyal, and Ready to Thrive Sasha and Santana are a dynamic duo of young German Shepherd mixes (about 1.5 years old) whose spirits are bigger than their kennel runs. They were found as strays on 5/11. These stunning sisters came into the shelter with lovely manners and clearly knew life inside a home—but shelter stress is real, and now their energy levels are through the roof. That said, their core personalities remain intact: friendly, smart, eager to engage, and incredibly loyal. People-Friendly: They’ve never met a stranger—kind and affectionate with people of all ages and backgrounds. With time, structure, and exercise, they’ll settle beautifully into family life. We believe they’d do well with kids, especially in a home that can offer them enrichment and help channel their natural energy in positive ways. Dog-Social (Despite the Drama): Yes, they’ll raise a fuss at the kennel fence—but don’t be fooled. These girls are dog-friendly with other medium to large dogs. Their size and energy may not pair well with small, fragile, or high-strung dogs. House Dog Credentials: Sasha and Santana likely lived inside a home before arriving at the shelter. They appear to be housebroken, and their familiarity with people and manners suggests they were once well-loved pets. Unfortunately, the shelter environment doesn’t meet their emotional needs, and their current behavior reflects that stress. Playful Souls: Sasha and Santana love water—kiddie pools, splashing around, you name it. We imagine them living their best lives on hikes, river walks, or just playing in the yard with their people. The Bottom Line: They may seem over-the-top in the kennel, but that’s shelter stress talking. These girls just need a chance to decompress, bond with a human again, and be reminded they’re home. They are loyal, loving, and ready to thrive. Interested in adopting or learning more? Email us at adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with “Sasha & Santana” in the subject line.

Story
Meet Vincent – Your Next Best Friend! Vincent is a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a whole lot of potential. At about 45 pounds, he’s a perfect medium size—big enough for adventures, small enough to snuggle! This handsome guy was recently surrendered through no fault of his own. His previous owner simply didn’t have the time to give him the attention he deserves. Despite the change, Vincent remains a sweet, friendly, and well-mannered boy. - House trained - Dog and kid friendly - Neutered and vaccinated - Smart and eager to please Vincent would thrive in a home where he can get regular exercise, continued guidance, and plenty of affection. He’s still young and ready to learn—he just needs a person or family to show him the ropes and help him shine. Ready to meet Vincent? Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with “Vincent” in the subject line to learn more or set up a visit. Vincent is waiting to be your loyal companion—come say hello!

Story
Atlas has been a loyal best friend of mine for over 8 years. Playful, yet a lazy pup. Loves to sleep and lay around, also as soon as you grab a squeaky toy he will act like a puppy again. Unfortunately Ive had two children, and although he does well with them in an open area, my son got close with him in a smaller space and he snapped at him and bit his cheek. He didnt even know he had done anything wrong, but I cannot have him in our home anymore. He is an older dog but I know he can be someones best friend, just like he is mine. I wanted to be truthful in his history, and i truly believe he is an amazing dog to adults, children just have trouble with boundaries and thats no fault to them, I just cant risk it happening again. Please help me find him a loving home where he can enjoy his remaing years of life.
