This little lady might’ve come in as a stray, but she’s got the heart of a country song—timid at first, but oh, so sweet. She’s been wandering down those dusty roads, but now she’s looking for a front porch to call her own. Sadie loves a good treat and a gentle hand, and with a little patience, she’ll open up like a wildflower in spring. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share those quiet country nights, Sadie’s your girl, ready to settle in and be your forever friend. This pet is available for adoption soon at the Yakima Humane Society - Ellensburg Location adoption center. Story
Meet Winnie, a three and a half year old German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix.Winnie is a sweet girl who is a bit skittish and unsure about all of the change in her life. She is a medium sized dog who weighs in at around 40 pounds. She just wants some reassurance, love and attention. Before her breakfast every morning she gives us a hug. She loves to eat her food off of a snuffle mat and may even enjoys a puzzle toy, we think this girl is pretty smart. She definitely doesn`t like being in the loud shelter will all the people coming and going, what she really wants is some stability and the comfort of knowing she has a home that is forever hers. Winnie is a bit unsure around new dogs and will sometimes bare her teeth at first to show them she is scared and doesn`t want to be messed with. However, once she has established these rules she then hangs out with the dogs just fine. She would be fine in a home with another dogs as long as people let her know she can`t boss the other dogs around or she can just be an only dog. We are hoping someone will take a second look at her as she really isn`t loving the shelter environment. Story
Meet Atticus, a three year old German Shepherd mix.Atticus is a handsome boy who weighs in at around 75 pounds. He is very friendly and wants all the attention, he will crawl into your lap if you let him. Atticus is working on some of his basic manner like “off” but he does listen to correction. He walks pretty well on leash with a bit of pulling but if you give him a reminder he settles in for his walk. Overall Atticus is a good boy who just needs a little polishing so he will shine! He would benefit from an owner who will be consistent with his training and understands the needs of the German Shepherd. Atticus has met another dog when at the shelter and was a bit overwhelming to the dog, he himself doesn’t seem to know how to “dog”. We recommend a meet and greet prior to adoption if there is another dog in the home. This pet is available for adoption on 11/7/2024 at 10:06 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Jazzy, a nine year old German Shepherd mix.Jazzy was found wandering around. Her coat had many painful burrs in it and her ears are missing fur, probably from a substantial amount of fly bites. This 93 pound girl has been bred multiple times and is more than ready to retire from that life. She is looking from a home that loves the German Shepherd breed and the unconditional love and loyalty they provide. She is a sweet and gentle soul that can’t wait to make you the center of her universe. She walks well on her leash and has a mature dignity to her. This pet is available for adoption on 11/9/2024 at 2:34 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Kai, a four month old male German Shepherd mix.Kai is just a big baby weighing in at 25 pounds. He is very sweet and wants to crawl towards you for some snuggles. He is friendly and curious about the toys we took out for the photo shoot, although he didn’t understand why he had to stay still! Please remember that Kai is a puppy and puppy behavior comes with the package. They need basic training and potty training along with being provided chew toys to encourage proper chewing habits. All puppies require socializing from a young age to help them become the best, most well-rounded dog they can be.This pet is available for adoption on 11/9/2024 at 2:34 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
