Story
Tuck went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He walked with both the staff and the public and loved the attention. Tuck had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He watched all the action from his kennel and was a big fan of all the attention. Meet Tuck, a 7-year-old male German Shepherd mix.Tuck arrived at the adoption center after being picked up by animal control in the city of Sunnyside. When he first arrived at the adoption center he was a little unsure of the action, but as a new arrival and being located in the lobby who could blame the guy. Tuck has since come out of his shell and enjoys getting out of the kennel for some love. He went on a field trip with one of the employees and he did amazing in the car and was great to handle on the leash. Tuck is very treat motivated and does know his commands of "Off" and "Sit". He has met a few dogs at the adoption center and was a bit vocal, so a meet and greet with other animals in the home is recommended prior to adoption. Tuck is considered a large breed but he is only 62 pounds so he makes the perfect family or lap dog for any home. This pet is available for adoption on 8/3/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Quincey, a 4-year-old German Shepherd mix.Quincey is a confident, energetic and very sweet loving boy. He loves getting scratches and cuddles so much that he will bark for more if you stop. He loves to be out in the park and seems used to a more outdoor lifestyle. Quincey would love a home with a securely fenced in yard where he can play fetch with his new owner. Quincey does pull on his leash in his excitement but he is getting better about that. He may do best in a home with no small children at this time until he gets some focused training as he tends to jump up when overly excited. This pet is available for adoption on 8/5/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Meet Dozer, a 1 year-old male German Shephard mix.Dozer is a sweet boy who has been living in a foster home. His foster parents say he adores children of all ages. He even gets along with other dogs! His foster mom also stated that he loves to be outside, but he is also happy to curl up on his dog bed and hang out by the fire with a chew toy in his mouth. Dozer enjoys the company of another dog but also doesn't mind being the only dog. He walks well on a leash and can hike forever. We do recommend a meet and greet before taking him home if you have other dogs. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Meet Henry, a 1-year-old male German Shepherd mix.Henry is a handsome shepherd that enjoys pets. He seems to love the park setting at the shelter and would love a furever home with a fenced in yard. When Henry was brought in it was reported that he came from a difficult situation and needed a family that could provide him with more love. Henry seems to soak up attention like he might not get any more. We would love to see him find a home that is looking for a new K9 family member and not just a yard buddy.
