Story
Meet Tuck, an almost eight year old German Shepherd Mix. Tuck was picked up as a stray in July of 2023 before being brought to us. We can't believe this mature gentleman has been with us for this long! Tuck is a great size at 66 pounds and is stocky rather than tall so he looks more like a medium sized dog. He walks very well on the leash with minimal pulling and is an all around great boy who enjoys human interaction. Tuck is all about the treats! He loves anything food related and with eagerly sit for them. We think he is a pretty easy-going guy although he can be dominant with other dogs so if you have another dog in the household a meet and greet should happen prior to adoption. Tuck would be very happy as an only dog and doesn't need canine a companion, so if you are a one-dog household he thinks that sounds great. Tuck is a mellow dude who still enjoys his walks but doesn't have all that puppy energy, we think that is pretty great. He would make a great companion and we hope he finds his home soon. Tuck went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He walked with both the staff and the public and loved the attention. Tuck had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He watched all the action from his kennel and was a big fan of all the attention. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Quincey, a 4-year-old German Shepherd mix.Quincey is a confident, energetic and very sweet loving boy. He loves getting scratches and cuddles so much that he will bark for more if you stop. He loves to be out in the park and seems used to a more outdoor lifestyle. Quincey would love a home with a securely fenced in yard where he can play fetch with his new owner. Quincey does pull on his leash in his excitement but he is getting better about that. He may do best in a home with no small children at this time until he gets some focused training as he tends to jump up when overly excited. This pet is available for adoption on 8/5/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Lilly, a 5-year-old female German Shepherd. Lilly is a fabulous lady. She is a large girl at over 70 pounds but she doesn't seem that big. Lilly does good on her leash and loves treats. She doesn't seem to have had an easy life up to this point and really needs a forever family that will give her a soft place to land. Please do your breed research before applying to adopt Lilly. German Shepherds and GSD mixes are a special breed of dog with special requirements. These dogs were bred to have a job, and without the right activity level/purpose they won't flourish which can lead to issues down the road. These dogs are incredibly smart and need to be challenged both physically and mentally to really be happy. The German Shepherd is known to be vocal when excited and can be a bit mouthy at times, proper training is key in helping your German Shepherd adjust to their new life. German Shepherds are a fun, athletic breed that many have fallen in love with over the years, but please keep their breed needs in mind when considering adding one to your household. This pet is available for adoption on 1/15/24 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Imani (e-mon-e) was found by the river this summer. She takes time to trust and prefers to be outside, but given time she will cuddle with you and show affection. She gets along with boy dogs more than girls and she would prefer just one other dog, she gets jealous if she gets left out of play. She needs things to do, like any German Shepherd she is a working dog. We have her practice bringing us things and she spends a lot of time running around outside. While she is older she still acts young and is playful.

Story
This is a courtesy post so please contact Rene directly at the phone number below. This is Roscoe. He is a wonderful, neutered 1-year-old (ish) neutered German Shepherd Husky mix and he needs his forever home. He is VERY sweet and playful. I took him in about three months ago hoping I could keep him forever, but my other male dog will not accept him. Roscoe is great with my older female dog and with my son's young female dog. He loves to play with other dogs and with toys. He is great with older kids, I do not have younger kids so I can't speak about that. I'm told that Roscoe was found on the streets in Yakima. I don't know much history on him. I got him from an elderly lady here in Ellensburg who couldn't keep him in her small home. Roscoe knows commands, is house trained, leash trained and also can run on a tether. He is up to date on his shots. He truly is the sweetest dog. He likes people, likes other dogs and wants to be part of the pack. He is an inside/outside dog at my house in the country. He obeys well and is respectful. He enters calm surrender easily. He needs a fenced yard with a 6' fence or a hot wire. He does great on a training collar as well. He has no special needs and eats a regular diet. Roscoe is a wonderful, sweet dog with a lot of energy and needs someone who will give him love, attention and exercise. He loves to cuddle. He is VERY playful. He loves doggie toys and treats and wants to play with you and toys and other dogs and go on walks or runs or hikes. He loves going on car rides. I can answer any questions and I want to make sure Roscoe goes to a loving forever home! We live in Ellensburg, WA. Renee 509-899-3667 We have not met Roscoe and urge you to do your own evaluation

Story
This is a courtesy post so please contact Sarah directly at the number below This is Storm. She is a 50 lb GS/Husky mix. She turned five at the beginning of January. She is spayed, vaccinated, and chipped. She has been a part of our family since she was 6 weeks old. Stormy loves to play fetch, chase the kids around, and do tricks for treats. She is sweet, loving, and gets her feelings hurt easily. She's gentle when taking food from your hands and loves to cuddle at the end of the day. Unfortunately, I have made the difficult decision of re-homing Storm because she has a terribly high prey drive. She cannot help but go after and sometimes kill our livestock, including chickens and peacocks. I would love to find a loving and safe family home where she does not have access to livestock or domesticated fowl. My name is Sarah, and my phone number is: 5093068352 Please call/text for inquiries or more any additional information. We have not met stormy and urge you to do your own evaluation.
