Barney Delight is believed to be a German Shepherd/lab mix approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 45 lbs. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age.
Barney is happiest when he’s near his humans, quietly keeping you company, following you from room to room, or settling in beside you for some well-earned couch time. He’s affectionate, mellow without being boring, and just the kind of dog who makes everyday life feel a little warmer. Between his sweet nature, that irresistible wiggle butt, and his all-around good-boy personality, Barney is the kind of dog who quickly becomes the best part of your day.
Doesn't he already sound amazing?! Well wait, there's more! Barney loves treats, is super smart already knowing a few basic commands such as sit and shake, and is crate and potty trained as well and he knows how to use a doggy door. He'll be a great companion for someone who enjoys going on adventures and for someone looking for a snuggly pal at the end of the day. He is the perfect mixture of both. Barney loves to be outside and he would absolutely love it for his forever home to have a nice big backyard for him to roam and relax in the sun.
Barney is dog friendly and did great meeting all of the dogs we introduced him to. Barney met a handful of dogs all with different personalities. He is also fostered in a home with other large dogs and they do great together. Barney loves to play, enjoys games of tag your it and will also engage in gentle wrestling matches. He knows when it’s time to take a play break and appreciates those relaxing moments as well. In a home, Barney’s best match would be another dog that enjoys the company of other dogs, likes to play and also appreciates those calmer moments as well. If you don't have another dog, that is totally fine with Barney! He does not need the company of another dog to help him feel comfortable and open up. He is more people-oriented and loves affection so much that he would be just as happy being your one and only and the center of your world.
Barney isn’t just looking for a home, he’s looking for his person. The one who’s ready for a steady, loyal companion who will greet you with a wagging tail, settle in beside you after a long day, and quietly become the best decision you’ve ever made. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be flashy to stand out. His goodness speaks for itself. If you’ve been waiting for that easygoing, well-mannered, dog-friendly boy who feels like he’s always been yours… this is your sign. Barney is ready to start his forever chapter, all he needs now is you.
We are willing to test Barney Delight with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
