Story
Meet Alani, a five year old German Shepherd mix weighing 57 pounds. Alani has spent her life being a mama—she was found with five other dogs, some likely her own pups—and it’s clear she’s given everything she had to her little ones. Now, it’s finally her turn to be cared for. She may have been bred multiple times in the past, but those days are behind her. Alani is ready to retire from motherhood and step into a life filled with comfort, kindness, and love. One of her eyes has an old injury or deformity, but it doesn’t seem to slow her down or dim her gentle spirit. This sweet girl is friendly, treat-motivated, and just needs a bit of reassurance to come out of her shell. With a soft bed, a steady routine, and someone who speaks her language of patience and love, Alani will absolutely blossom. If you`re ready to help a deserving soul discover what it means to be truly loved, Alani is waiting for you. This pet is available for adoption on 6/12/2025 at 4:26 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Oscar, a ten month old German Shepherd/Greyhound mix weighing around 50 pounds.Oscar was brought in to us by someone, unfortunately we didn`t have room for him at the time but we gave them a bag of dog food to help with his care and placed them on our waitlist. However, someone informed us that they left him tied up to a trash can on the green way with the bag of food we had given him. We can`t imagine ever doing that, and Oscar is most definitely not trash. This boy is active, outgoing and smart as a whip. He picks up information quickly and although he is a teenager and still learning his manners he has a ton of potential. Oscar has met several dogs in our facility and loves them all, although not all loved his playfulness. He would love a home with another dog that wants to play and can match his energy. We see this guy doing really well with his new family. This pet is available for adoption on 5/2/2025 at 5:06 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Rosa, a four and a half year old German Shepherd/Husky mix weighing around 75 pounds.Rosa is as sweet as they come — a calm, gentle girl who’s been through a lot but still greets the world with kindness and grace. She has a slight limp in her back legs but it doesn`t slow her down much. Our medical team says she has torn one of her ACLs and her hips are displastic. This means she will need to be on medication to help her for the rest of her life and may never be able to run marathons but she is always in good spirits. She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys her strolls, which will also help her shed a few extra pounds for her overall well-being. Rosa’s ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and soft places to rest her paws.If you`re looking for a loyal companion who’s low-key, loving, and ready to be your quiet shadow, Rosa is the girl for you. This pet is available for adoption on 6/26/2025 at 10:03 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
