Story
Hollow is a 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer/Chocolate Lab mix with a heart full of love. She is crate and house trained, affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she’s with her people. Whether she’s following you around the house, lying at your feet while you work, or cuddling on the couch, she simply wants to be part of the family.Hollow has an issue affecting her back legs that becomes noticeable after strenuous activity or overexertion. We have managed her symptoms by limiting high-impact activity, and she does well with normal day-to-day life. As an active family, we’ve come to realize that our lifestyle is no longer the best fit for her needs. We’re looking for a home where she can enjoy a slower pace, receive the attention she deserves, and continue to thrive as someone’s loyal companion.

Story
MEET LEO!! Leo is an approximately 4-5 year old male neutered Lab Golden and German Pointer mix. What a stunning combination! Leo is tall, dark and handsome and currently weighs around 75 lbs. Leo is a dapper and simple kind of guy. He has a calm and gentle presence. He is past the younger dog chaos and settling into a nice stride. He waits patiently in the morning to take on life. From leisurely walks through property trails, a soulful display of comfort when petting him, to laying down on his cozy cot. His soul penetrating eye gaze as you rub his under chin that says, “Thank you for letting me be a part of your life.” Leo will sit there stoically as you give him a big hug and it tells you everything you need to know about him. He has been professionally trained to increase his likelihood of being adopted. He appreciates a system of communication as he navigates the world that once misunderstood him. He just needed the right team in his corner. Prior to training he would get over excited around dogs or squirrels for example. Now he is capable of calm leash walking and experiencing the world. He has proven he really is a simple kind of dog that deserves a simple kind of life. Leo is both house and crate trained. Leo does great with female dogs around his size but his prey drive seems to strong for small dogs and cats. Leo is a very intelligent and stunning guy who is looking for his forever family to take him on the adventure of life and be has loyal as he is ❤️❤️❤️ If interested please contract Christine at christine@therescueexpress.org

**$850 in pledges to any rescue that may pull!** Sunday ACCT-A-258041 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Sunday must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER OR ADOPTER by SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH at 10AM. Should Sunday's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Meet Sunday (ACCT-A-258041), a charming gentleman who is ready to make every day feel like a relaxing weekend! Sunday has been a star pupil since arriving at the shelter, often seen sitting quietly at the front of his kennel with soft, hopeful eyes, waiting for a friend to stop by. Sunday is a big fan of his daily walks, though his nose occasionally leads the way to the best sniffing spots! He is a polite treat-taker and a social fellow who enjoys gentle handling. If you’re looking for a sweet, treat-loving companion who will appreciate every bit of love and every peanut butter snack you can offer, Sunday is waiting to meet you! Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling, Pulled Mildly, Needed verbal encouragement or treats to keep walking, Lunging at other dogs, Fixated on other dogs Yes, I handled the dog. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue Per volunteer 8/27 : "Sunday was a great boy for me on our walk today. He did pull pretty hard on the leash when first got him out of the kennel, he really had to go. He was not as bad pulling on the way back in after our walk. He was great once we got in the yard! He loved playing ball, he let me pet him all over, and he really liked butt rubs. He had an OK fence meet/running the fence with Eve, too." Per staff 8/25 : "When doing Sunday's PCR, he was tolerant of all types of restraint, allowed bear hug from handler, allowed nose and eye swab, but as medical backed up after the throat swab he started thrashing and bucking against his handler, after struggling in hold for a moment, he turned and tried to snap at handler's face/head. was fine after released from hold ; back to jumping around; looser body language; went back into kennel for a moment" 08/12/2026 Playgroup Steer Test - Water 4/5, Can 4/5 With fence greeting, he ran up to the fence, hackles raised, high tail, muzzle punched. Jameson then muzzle punched and hard barked as well. High tail when sniffing/greeting. A bit pushy. Fence greeting with Hercules, hackles raised, ears forward, high tail. Moved around in yard with engaging in play. 08/11/2026 Misty and Sunday: Good greetings. Pulls towards other dog when she moved away. Able to disengage. 08/09/2026 per staff: Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel, soft eyes, ears back, loose body, mid level loose wags. Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Tossed treats to move him back, when he came back to the front was easily leashed and came right out. Walked pulling mildly on leash. Would occasionally pull strongly towards areas to sniff. Sociability: Would not come over when called, came over for treats and took them gently. Allowed all handling with ears to the side, mid to high tail, loose body, slightly open mouth. Would remine next to me for a second after I stopped then moved away to sniff. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Saw dogs through the fence, sniffed at them with a high tail, ears to the side and moved away. Return to Kennel: Clipped leash on return due to notes of needing two handlers to return on walk sheet. Walked pulling mildly, eyes darting, high tail. Slowed down and started to lower his body as we got closer, picked up the pace into a light jog and he kept moving and hopped right in. Color Level: Blue Recommendations and considerations: If he continues to go into kennel on his own can be leveled down 08/08/2026 per staff: sitting quietly at the front of the kennel, soft eyes, ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
