ABOUT SOX
Our sweet man, Sox, is hoping for a loving home! Sox came to HAP when his beloved owner was diagnosed with cancer and, as their health declined, was no longer able to give him the care he needed. While saying goodbye was surely difficult, Sox is now hoping for a fresh start and a forever family of his own.
Sox is a well-mannered gentleman who already knows his basic commands and is always eager to show off his smarts, especially when treats are involved! He walks nicely on a leash, appears to be house-trained, and loves playing with his favorite toys. To make this sweet boy even more lovable, Sox has done well with other dogs and children, too! With his affectionate personality, good manners, and love for just about everything, Sox is ready to find a family who will give him the love and stability he deserves. He's also done wonderfully during outings through our Doggy Day Out program, where he's had the opportunity to enjoy some time outside the shelter.
"Yesterday we got to take out Sox! First we went for a hike near UD’s campus. He was so excited and energetic we loved it. He sniffed around and explored. After that we walked on campus a bit and he was great with it. All the people around didn't bother him. He was so friendly to everyone. Then we took him home to visit some roommates who he was super excited to see. He has such a happy dog personality. Such a sweet boy he greeted everyone with kisses. I hope he finds his forever home very soon." - Averie
"With this super rainy weather, Sox hung out inside and on the porch all day with me and my roommates! They loved him just as much as he loved them. He got treats, a pup cup, and some peanut butter and he couldn't get enough. I wish I could have taken him outside for a long walk but he seemed just as happy to get lots of cuddles and attention from my roommates and I! He was so so good in the car, great with everyone he met, and super calm even in an unfamiliar house." - Paige
"Had an amazing day with Sox. He's such a lovebug. All he wants to do is snuggle. He walks beautifully on the leash, takes gentle verbal corrections the first time, loves to ride in the car with his head out of the window, points when he sees a fly (was unsuccessful in catching it), and enjoys squeaky toys. Everyone he meets is automatically his best friend. He truly is unforgettable!" - Amy
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
