Meet Buck! Big boy Buck is one of our newer arrivals to HAP from one of our partners shelters in the South! He is the happiest, goofiest, wiggliest, silly boy there is! Anytime Buck sees a human, his big ole tail is wagging back and forth and that's quickly followed by full body wiggles. Once he gets close enough, he's putting all that weight on you so he can soak up all the loving he can. When he's not getting pets, Buck has been trying to figure out this thing called fetch. So far he's not the biggest fan as he'll go chase after something but hasn't figured out the bringing it back part yet. He's been recovering from his neuter so he hasn't had any play dates with other dogs yet but he's seemed interested in other dogs so we could schedule a dog meet if you have current dogs in the home to see if he'd make a good playmate! Buck is a long and lean boy and sometimes doesn't realize his size when he pushes in for attention so kids in the home would just have to be comfortable with a big dog with barnacle tendencies (he is the cutest barnacle we've ever seen though). He does however walk really well on the leash and knows how to sit so big boy does have some manners. So if you're looking for a dog that's always going to make you laugh, Buck is the guy for you! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Kiddie pools, stock tanks, puddles—you name it! Peggy is a petite girl weighing a whopping 25 lbs! She is approximately 1.5 years old. This gentle girl absolutely loves other dogs; big and small. She is currently being fostered in a sanctuary in south Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. This amazing sanctuary is only a short term stop for this fur-baby until their forever home is found. Peggy was found in January of 2026 in a cemetery with about 12+ other dogs. She was fending for herself, finding food, water and shelter where and when she could. Peggy was the smallest of the bunch, so she was probably picked on a lot more than the other doggies. She is much calmer than the other dogs at the sanctuary. Peggy likes to play, but she also likes to just sit back and watch everyone else cause trouble. She will run along side of them, with sometimes joining in the rough housing. She likes to ref the other dogs by barking at them playing. Peggy would be great for a calmer household – play in the backyard with another dog and her toys. She is working on her leash training – she is crate trained. Peggy loves playing in the water and laying in the kiddy pool, cooling off. If you want a small doggy to stay by your side, to cuddle with and to enjoy the nice days outside – Peggy is a wonderful choice. Peggy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm positive (they have received the 30-day course of antibiotics and need to stay on heart worm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested then), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
