Story
We got Lucy as a puppy at 6 weeks old. She is a mix of german short hair, wirehair, & black lab. She will be 9 in May. Lucy loves to be outside, play fetch, and go for walks. She is fully house trained and can stay inside for extended periods of time. We have made the difficult decision to re-home Lucy. We have 3 small children which she is rather good with, except when food is involved. As she has gotten older, she has become more defensive around her food. She will growl and snarl if anyone gets too close to her food while she is eating. Recently, she bit one of our children when she felt they were too close to her food while she was eating. Lucy will do best in a home with no small children or other animals. She does get possessive over her toys and sticks and will nip at other dogs if they try to get her toy. Lucy has a lot of love left to give and is a good dog, but just needs the right environment to do so. We are hopeful to find her a new home where she will be loved.

Story
Meet Gina! Gina is a female, 6 year old, Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She is overweight at 95 pounds.Gina arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender. She is described as a wonderful family dog! Reportedly, she is house trained and partially crate trained. Gina is playful, confident, loves to play with toys and balls, does well in the car, walks well on leash, does well with strangers, does well with women and men, knows her basic cues, and stays in a fenced yard. She is very overweight, and will need to be put on a diet and will need to receive regular exercise to help her lose weight and live her longest, healthiest, and best life! Gina is a really great girl who will make an excellent companion for a lucky family!Gina will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along. We do not know how she will do with cats.Gina is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and ready to go home today! The shelter is currently open by appointment only. Story
Meet Delilah! Delilah is a female, 7 year old, Pointer blend. She is 64 pounds.Delilah arrived at the shelter originally as a stray. She was later surrendered by her owner due to her owner being unable to care for her any longer. Delilah is a pretty friendly girl! Reportedly, she is house trained, but not crate trained. She has not been around other animals before, so we do not know how she will do with other dogs, cats, small animals, or barnyard animals. Delilah is a very nice girl, but also is independent! She won't mind if you have a busy social life. However, she won't mind cuddling up with you for a lazy day in either! She can't wait to go home!Delilah will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed.
