Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Scarlet lives in a foster home with another dog sister. They get along great playing and taking rests. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. If happiness could grow four legs and a wagging tail, we'd be introducing you to Nero Roo. This little guy is basically a walking, bouncing, zooming bundle of pure joy. Whether he's tossing his toys around, making himself laugh with his own solo zoomies, following his foster around like the world's cutest little shadow, or curling up for a nap after wearing himself out, Nero lives every single day like it's the best day ever. And honestly? We could all learn a thing or two from him. Whatever breeds came together to create this handsome little guy, they gave him the perfect mix of playful puppy energy, good looks, and a personality that's somehow even cuter than his face. Nero is exactly what you'd hope for in a puppy. He's social, affectionate, curious, goofy, and always looking for his next adventure. He loves everyone he meets and has become quite the little entertainer. Whether he's making up his own games, proudly carrying toys around the house, or bouncing through the room with the cutest mini zoomies you've ever seen, he has a way of making people laugh without even trying. Speaking of toys... this boy is obsessed! Nero can keep himself entertained for ages, happily tossing toys around, pouncing on them, and creating his own little puppy party. Every now and then he'll get so excited while playing that he'll break out into a burst of solo zoomies before going right back to playing like nothing happened. It's absolutely hilarious to watch. Once he's finally worn himself out, he's more than happy to curl up for a nap before doing it all over again. And when playtime is over? He transforms into the sweetest little cuddle bug and happily follows his foster from room to room like the perfect little shadow. If you're moving around the house, chances are Nero won't be far behind because he simply wants to be wherever his people are. Nero currently lives with four other dogs ranging from small to large and gets along wonderfully with all of them. Like any puppy, he'd love for everyone to play as much as he does... unfortunately for him, the resident dogs don't always share his enthusiasm! Even so, he enjoys their company and would likely thrive with another playful dog who could match his puppy energy. He's also fostered with free-roaming cats and has done well with them, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with feline friends too. Nero has also spent time around children as young as three years old while accompanying his foster to work, and he absolutely loves all the attention. He's always excited to make new friends and happily plays with the kids who come to visit. He's already crate trained and does a wonderful job, only whining when he needs to go outside to potty. Potty training is going well too! Like any young puppy, he's still learning where the appropriate place to go is, but he's a smart little guy who's picking things up quickly. With routine, structure, and consistency, we think he'll continue making great progress. He's also incredibly food motivated and eager to learn. Nero is already learning "sit" and has picked it up quickly, making training both fun and rewarding. He's the kind of puppy who's excited to work with you, especially if treats are involved. Now, because Nero is a puppy, he's very much in his "everything is a toy" phase of life. That includes your hands! He's mouthy in that typical puppy way and will need a family committed to continuing his training and helping him learn appropriate manners as he grows. The good news is he's eager to please, responds well to learning, and has all the makings of an amazing lifelong companion. We think Nero would do wonderfully with a semi-active family that's excited to embrace all the fun that comes with raising a puppy.
