Story
Are you looking for a running buddy, a hiking partner, or a co-pilot for weekend adventures? Meet Trigger, a stunning, athletic German Shorthaired Pointer/Labrador Retriever mix who is ready to bring joy (and a little bit of noise) into your life! Trigger is the definition of a best friend. Whether it's playing fetch, or going on long walks, he is happiest when moving. With a stunning coat and even better personality, he is ready to learn and play! Trigger is very high-energy and will need an active, committed family who can provide daily, vigorous exercise to keep him/her happy. Also, Trigger is a vocal communicator! He is a "loud barker" who will alert you to squirrels, neighbors, passing cars, or just to say "Hey, watch me play!". He needs an owner who understands this breed's "shout-y" nature and is willing to work on training. Ideal Home: • A fenced yard is highly preferred for safe zoomies. • An active family (runners/hikers/adventurers). • A home where he/she won't be left alone for long periods. • Experience with high-energy or working breeds is a huge plus! If you have the stamina, the patience, and the love to give this incredible dog the life he deserves, Trigger is waiting for you!

Story
Stella is the kind of dog who quietly carries a big story in her gentle eyes. This sweet shorthaired pointer mix has been through more than her fair share of hardship, including living with severe knee pain for far too long. Despite it all, she remains incredibly loving, resilient, and ready to trust again. Now, Stella has a real chance at a new life. The shelter is committed to covering the cost of the double knee surgery she needs—but what she truly needs is a safe, patient home where she can recover. Her first few months will require extra care, including limited activity, help getting around, and lots of encouragement as she heals. In return, you’ll get to watch an amazing transformation as Stella becomes more comfortable, mobile, and joyful with each passing week.Stella is wonderful with kids and gets along with other dogs, making her a lovely addition to a family with a warm, supportive environment. However, she does need a cat-free home.If you have a calm space, a compassionate heart, and the ability to give Stella the time and care she needs to heal, you won’t just be adopting a dog—you’ll be changing her life. And in her own loyal way, she’ll change yours right back.Adoption fee includes:✅ Surgery✅ Vaccines✅ Microchip✅ Treated for fleas and worms Interested in meeting Stella? Please email: adoption@columbiahumane.org for an application.Adoption Fee: $350For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgMay 8, 2026, 7:43 pm

Story
Ever wanted a sidekick who looks at you like you’re the center of the universe? Duke is just with a side of silly. He’s ready to be your ultimate hang out buddy. Whether you’re crushing emails at your desk or finally tackling that mountain of laundry, Duke is right there to offer moral support. He’s the ultimate 'assistant' who’s happy to nap at your feet while you work, making sure you never have to drink your morning coffee alone! Pictures are great, but wait until you see that tail wag in motion! Click play to see why everyone in his foster home has fallen head over paws for Duke. https://youtu.be/xd_p3DUVWe0 Duke is a sleek, handsome fella weighing in at a perfect 38 pounds. We think he’s a blend of Pointer and perhaps a dash of Border Collie, making him the ideal medium size—sturdy enough for a hike but compact enough to not take up the entire bed (though he might try!). Of course, as with all our rescue superstars, his breed is our best guesstimate, but his heart is 100% pure gold. Duke is currently living the dream in a loving foster home, and he is absolutely glowing! This smart cookie is crate trained and handles his den time like a pro. Even better? He’s officially a gold star student in potty training and hasn't had a single accident! He’s also a total family man; he’s been hanging out with kids as young as six months old and has been nothing but a gentle, patient soul. Duke has truly mastered the art of being the perfect household companion! When it comes to other dogs, Duke is a social butterfly! He is currently living with a crew that ranges from tiny Shih Tzus to a giant Great Pyrenees, and he handles the variety with total ease. He loves a good game of chase in the backyard and thrives on the company of other canines. While he can be a solo star, he’d love a home with a fur sibling to help him keep the games going. Is Duke a fan of felines? While he’s been great with his doggy friends and tiny humans, he hasn't told us how he feels about cats just yet! We’d love to arrange a kitty slumber party to ensure he’s ready to share his space (and maybe even his favorite spot on the couch) with a tiny tiger. It’s the ultimate way to make sure everyone is ready for a lifetime of cozy naps together! Duke is a backyard enthusiast who dreams of having his very own fenced-in kingdom! While he’s a social butterfly, the busy apartment life with its noisy hallways and elevators is a bit too "extra" for his chill vibe. His ideal setup is a lush, sunny yard where he can perform his daily victory laps, hunt for the perfect stick, and sunbathe until his belly is warm. He’d be the happiest pup on the block in a quiet neighborhood where the most exciting part of the day is sniffing every single blade of grass at his own leisurely pace. In short, Duke is the perfect mix of play and peace a dog who can go from a high speed backyard chase to a deep sleep cuddle session in five seconds flat. He’s just waiting for the right person to show him that the world is a big, beautiful place. Ready to find out if Duke is the missing piece to your puzzle? Story
Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. Watch her video and you'll fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/8oHuAjWX9_Q?si=tkwRq8s072a9_RWw Scarlet Mae is believed to be a Pointer/Lab mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 48 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. She can match whatever energy you need her to. Want to snuggle all day? Sign Scarlet up. Want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go exploring the trails? Scarlet is already at the door with her leash on. She would also thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak in the sun, and porch sit with you during those nice summer evenings. We are willing to test Scarlet Mae with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Meet Mary Ann and Ginger, an adorable bonded pair of medium-sized rescue dogs who are searching for their forever home. These super cute girls have spent their entire lives on their own until they were recently rescued. Despite their rough beginnings, Mary Ann and Ginger are incredibly sweet and are now learning to enjoy the comforts of a loving home. Both Mary Ann and Ginger get along wonderfully with other dogs, though they haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet. They need a patient adopter who will give them the time and space they need to adjust to their new surroundings and discover the joys of being cherished pets. Ginger, who bravely underwent heartworm treatment, is now healthy and heartworm negative. Both dogs are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. They even tolerate baths and absolutely love being petted. Currently, Mary Ann and Ginger are being fostered in Seguin, TX, where they are receiving the care and love they deserve. If you have a kind heart and a gentle hand, these two sweethearts will surely reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Adopt Mary Ann and Ginger and give them the loving home they've always dreamed of.
