Since entering foster care several weeks ago, she has shown just how much determination and courage lie beneath her soft exterior. Iris is still learning about the world, and while sudden noises or fast movements may cause her to pause, she isn’t overwhelmed by them. Instead, she takes a moment to process and keeps going. Recently, Iris went on an outing to a store—riding calmly in the car and walking into a busy, unfamiliar environment that was intimidating for her. She was nervous, but she stayed present, walked through the front of the store, and even allowed several kind strangers to pet her. Though unsure, Iris chose courage. She didn’t try to bolt or shut down, and that alone speaks volumes about her potential.
At home, the most beautiful changes are happening. Iris is in the very early stages of initiating contact on her own—small, quiet moments that might be easy to miss but mean everything to a dog learning to trust. These moments are the beginning of a bond that, with the right person, will grow into something truly special.
One area where Iris already shines is on leash. She walks like an absolute dream and enjoys longer walks each day.
