Meet Fuchsia AKA Angie! Fuchsia, affectionately known as Angie, is a 4-year-old, fully grown retriever mix with a gentle and loving nature. She was originally born here in 2021 and adopted into a home, but sadly returned to our care in September when her family had to move and were unable to take her along. She came back with her adopted brother, Milo, through no fault of her own. Since returning, Angie has only shared a room with Milo, but she has shown openness to potentially making additional doggy friends with proper introductions. She has lived comfortably with two children and is potty trained, making her a wonderful option for a family environment. Angie does not require prior dog experience and would be a great match for first-time adopters. True to her retriever roots, she enjoys affection and is happiest when she’s cuddled up with her people.

Meet these two beautiful ladies, both rescued from a county shelter in Northern Alabama, where they arrived with medical needs that required immediate attention. From the very beginning, their journey was uncertain—but once they made it to Big Dog Ranch, everything changed. Since arriving at the ranch, both girls have received the medical care they needed right away. With the help of our dedicated medical team, along with endless love, patience, and affection, all of their medical needs have been fully addressed. Today, they are happy, healthy, and thriving. Now that they’re feeling their best, these sweet ladies are ready for the next chapter of their lives. They are searching for forever homes and families who will love them just as deeply as we have—homes where they can finally relax, be cherished, and know what it truly means to belong. 🐾💕

Meet Sable 💛 Sable was brought to Big Dog Ranch after being found as a stray here in Alabama. Like so many amazing dogs, she found herself without a place to call home—but that hasn’t dimmed her gentle spirit one bit. We named her Sable, and she has already won hearts with her sweet nature. Sable is a very loving girl who walks beautifully on a leash, making time spent with her an absolute joy. She is calm, affectionate, and eager for human companionship. For now, Sable will remain at Big Dog Ranch as she goes through the medical process to make sure she’s healthy and ready for her next chapter. During this time, she’ll continue receiving the care, love, and attention she deserves. Once she’s cleared and ready for adoption, Sable will be looking for a forever home where she can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. This sweet girl has so much love to give—she’s just waiting for the right family to give her that chance. 🐾💕

Hi, my name is Vinnie. I've got quite a story to tell. See, back in the time of Covid-19, my person was no longer able to take care of me, and I was unfortunately separated from him. This landed me in a high-kill shelter in North Carolina, but thankfully, the Ranch took me in. I really miss being in a home, and I've been waiting since January of 2023 to have a new family. I know I'm on the bigger side, but I'm super loving and sweet! Plus, big squishy dogs make perfect cuddlers. When I'm not being a snuggle bug, I enjoy playing with toys (especially bones!), eating snacks, and exploring my yard. I like to wrestle with my roommates here, though I can be picky about the dogs I like to play with, so please make sure I have proper introductions. I also don't really love cats or other small critters, cause I like to chase things and I'm still learning the leash. We could even take some training classes together to really help! Training is fun, engaging, and a great way to increase your bond with a dog. My funky little ears are very eye catching, and I'm sure to have all your friends and family adoring me! I will give all that love right back!!

Due to his sensitive temperament, he would do best in a home without young children. Older kids who understand boundaries and can give him space are a better fit. Because of his need for a patient and experienced handler, Romulus is best suited for someone with prior dog ownership experience—someone who will give him the time he needs to build trust and confidence at his own pace.
