CHARACTERISTICS Friendly, Affectionate, Loyal, Gentle, Playful, Smart, Brave, Curious, Funny, Loves Kisses HEALTH Vaccinations up to date, spayed. GOOD IN A HOME WITH Other dogs, children. Cats unknown. Hi there, I'm Essence! I'm a puppy with a personality as big as my heart. I'm a little ball of energy, always ready to play and explore. My curiosity knows no bounds, I'm always sniffing out new adventures. I'm also quite the comedian, always ready with a goofy antic to make you laugh. But when playtime's over, I'm all about the cuddles. I'm a brave little girl, but I'm also gentle and loyal. I'm smart too, I love learning new tricks, especially when treats are involved! I'm independent but friendly, always ready to make new friends. So, why should you adopt me? Well, I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and a whole lot of fun. I'll be your loyal companion, your confidant, and your best friend. All I need is a chance to show you just how special I am. Our love bug's adoption fee is $450 which includes being fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and fecal exam. Note: All dogs require a $100 cash training deposit. Once confirmation of the completion of a training class has been sent to the rescue, you will receive your deposit back in full. As we are a rescue all of our adult dogs/puppies for adoption must be spayed or neutered. Although we make every attempt to have this done before finding their adoptive families, this is not always possible. Please speak with your adoption coordinator to see of this service has already been performed or they will explain to you if your new dog/puppy will need this service while in your care at no cost to you. When emailing please include your phone number to help speed up the adoption process. Also, for the safety of our dogs we only adopt within a 2 hour radius of Joliet, Illinois, to allow our volunteers to do home checks if necessary.

Story
Introducing Fay! This sweet and timid pup is currently residing in a foster home, working on building her confidence and overcoming her fears. Fay is clever and highly food-motivated, making her an excellent candidate for learning new tricks and basic manners. With some yummy treats as motivation, Fay is sure to impress you with her intelligence and engagement. Fay's ideal home would be one that is willing to take things slow to help her grow and flourish. She would thrive in a household with another confident dog as a role model, as they can guide her and show her that the outside world is a safe and fun place to explore. As Fay can be easily startled by loud noises and cars driving by, a closed-in backyard would provide her with a safe and secure environment. This will allow her to gradually overcome her fears and help her feel more at ease in her surroundings. If you are a patient and compassionate person looking to make a positive impact on a shelter dog's life, Fay could be the perfect match for you. With time, love, and understanding, Fay will surely blossom into a confident and happy companion. Check out Fay's Instagram page for the latest on how she is doing in her foster home! https://www.instagram.com/fay_thecutestshelterdog/ Fay's accomplishments: - Crate trained - Cues: Sit, Down, Kisses, Paw - Favorite past times: Cuddles, playing in the water, carrying around sticks & hide/seek - Favorite foods/toys: peanut butter, chicken jerky, cheese, baby carrots, balls, and squeaky toys I am an All-Star dog! My adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and I will go home with my very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get us off to a good start. To learn more about me or to schedule an appointment to meet me, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Story
Hi, I'm Dutch! I'm a young Retriever/Aussie mix who is pretty perfect. I've spent the last few months in an amazing home, and they only had good things to say about me! "Dutch is an incredibly loving, energetic, and playful pup. He shows great sensitivity to human feelings and tone. He is affectionate, gentle, and patient with children. He is a smart boy who enjoys obedience training and is always eager to learn through positive reinforcement. He has already completed level 1 obedience and is ready for more! A social butterfly, he loves meeting other dogs and has very good manners with dog friends. His favorite things are frozen kongs, hikes, a nice comfy dog bed, doing zoomies in his yard, and belly rubs (but only with his very favorite people!)."What more could you ask for? Apply to meet me today!Special Requirenments: No cats

Story
Hi, my name is Milk Dud (like the candy, but sweeter). I'm that retriever puppy you may have heard about that needed the life saving surgery to remove 6 feet of string that was wrapped around my intestines. With that being said, I am still very much a mischievous puppy and need supervision while I play with toys and explore my surroundings.  I am working on my potty training and showing great improvement- but still need frequent potty breaks so I do not have an accident in the house. Between being a typical mischievous puppy and still needing frequent potty breaks, I would do best in a home with a person home often. My foster mom says I am very good at playing with other dogs and that I respect my senior foster sister when she tells me to back off.  I love playing with my toys and running around the yard. I can be mouthy with my foster parents, but when it comes to the kids, I know to be gentle. Foster mom also says I have a lot of energy and would do best with another dog to play with or a with family that will keep my mind and body exercised. I can be shy with new people but with a little patience and encouragement I will warm up to you.  I love to give kisses, get pets and at the end of the day I love a good snuggle and nap with my humans. Do I sound like the perfect puppy for you?Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
