Cesar is ready for his forever home! He is believed to be a Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix, around 9-10 years old and about 50ish pounds. He is a docile and sweet guy that is coming out of his shell in his foster home. Prior to coming to BAARK, Cesar spent the majority of his life on a homeless dog ranch in Texas where he did not get much one-on-one human contact. It does take him a little time to open up to people but after a couple days in his foster home, he soon became a “velcro dog” following his foster mom everywhere she goes. He is house broken (has had zero accidents in his foster home) and crate trained. He loves to sleep in his crate but does not need to be crated when left alone, or at night; he is free to roam with no issues. Cesar loves being outside and would love his forever family to have a secure, fenced yard. He has great leash manners and enjoys his daily walks, as well. He is good with other dogs with proper introduction and would do well with another calm dog in the home; he would be fine as an only dog too. We do not know how Cesar is with cats. A home without small children would be best for Cesar as he gets a bit nervous with loud noises and fast movements. Cesar is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative and his senior bloodwork panel came back perfect. He is also neutered, microchipped and recently had a dental cleaning with appropriate extractions. Due to his having osteoarthritis, typical of larger dogs his age, he would do best continuing to take medications to help. Currently he is taking Omega 3s, Cosequin and Cortaflex Plus that have greatly helped him in his day to day movement. We believe Cesar is also a bit hard of hearing. If you’re looking for a low key, easy going smiley guy who loves to find a soft spot and take a nap, Cesar is your pup!

A playmate would be great though more importantly I can be a little cautious when experiencing things outside the house.....I mean, let`s be real, cars on the street or people I don`t know deserve to be watched.... and a buddy helps me realize there is nothing to be worried about. Lexi is one of 9 gorgeous puppies with the most beautiful caramel-colored coat and fun-filled personality. Lexi arrived at Second City Canine Rescue from Kentucky and has flourished with her littermates at the Adoption Center. Lexi`s face is absolutely adorable! When she looks you in the eyes, your heart melts! Lexi`s days are filled with loving all her caregivers, playing with her siblings, and cuddling up for a nap or two in a cozy warm bed. Recently, Lexi went on a very exciting overnight adventure. She was such a good girl and had so much fun. They said that Lexi was so relaxed the whole time. She loved the male in the house and always followed him around and even slept on top of him! She did very well with her house training and always peed on a pee pad. She returned to the Adoption Center just in time to take a walk outside and play in the freshly fallen snow. Turns out Lexi LOVED the snow! She was having a blast running around the play yard hopping and jumping around like a little kid. Somehow, Lexi has even made time for a special guest appearance at 12 Puppy Yoga classes to perfect her “Downward Facing Dog” pose and was adored by so many. Lexi loves to play! She is very independent and will walk over to the toy bin on her own and select her very own toy to play with. If her siblings want to play with the toy she selects, she is always willing to share, although not without a little game of Tug-Of-War every once in a while. If the puppies are playing ~ then Lexi is always in the middle of it! She adores her siblings and wants to always be a part of whatever is going on. She is full of energy and is up for any game to be played ~ whether it be running or chasing each other around the Adoption Center or playing with ice cubes ~ she is there! Lexi is a very smart little girl and loves the challenge of working a treat puzzle to get that special treat. Her concentration is remarkable. Oh Marmaduke, aka Marmie! This sweet sweet sole has been handed a difficult life, Our dear Marmie has hydrocephalus, so his skull never fully closed and it won’t. Hydro puppies can never really be trained and will be like an infant for his whole life. Sadly, part of his hydro diagnosis shortens his lifespan, possibly 1 to 3 year, we don’t really know. We have hope that Marmie can live his life with a family who will love him like he deserves and enjoy his funny personality. He has a unique little prance to his walk and wants to play all day.
