Lucy is everything people adore about Goldens: friendly, affectionate, playful and endlessly loyal. She greets every new person like a long-lost friend and is happiest when she’s right in the middle of the action with her favourite humans. Lucy is the kind of dog who will quickly become your best friend. Throw a ball and you’ll have a friend for life! Fetch is one of her very favourite games, and she’ll happily play for as long as you’re willing to throw. And if you’re looking for a water-loving companion, Lucy is your girl. She absolutely loves the water, whether it’s a lake, a pond or a splash at the beach, and she would be thrilled to join you on cottage weekends, hikes and all your summer and winter adventures. Whether it’s a game of fetch in the yard, a long walk through the neighbourhood, an adventure outdoors or simply spending quiet time together, Lucy is ready to be by your side. Lucy’s Ideal Home Lucy is looking for a loving forever home where she can be cherished as part of the family. To help set her up for success, we have a few requirements and preferences: • Location (required): Homes must be in Ontario, within 3 hours of Toronto. • Fenced yard (preferred): Preference will be given to families with a securely fenced yard where Lucy can safely run and play fetch. • Children (preferred): Preference will be given to families with children over the age of 8. • Another Golden (bonus!): Lucy is great with other dogs, so a home with another Golden Retriever would be a wonderful bonus. Our Foster-to-Adopt Program Lucy is available through our foster-to-adopt program, which gives you and Lucy the chance to get to know each other before making it official. Once your application is approved, Lucy will come to stay with you for a 2 to 3 week trial in your home. This trial period lets you see how she settles into your daily routine, how she gets along with your family and any other pets, and whether she’s the right fit for your lifestyle. Our team will be available to support you throughout the trial and answer any questions along the way. At the end of the 2 to 3 weeks, if everyone agrees it’s a perfect match, we’ll finalize the adoption and Lucy will officially be home! Beer is a Golden Retriever boy, around 1 year old and about 17 kg. When he was first brought into the shelter, he suddenly started having bloody stool. We rushed him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with a bladder infection. Thankfully, after treatment and some care, Beer has now fully recovered and is completely healthy! Beer is full of energy, playful, and absolutely loves people. He’s the kind of dog who is happy to see you and just wants to be around his humans. Despite everything he’s been through, Beer has remained trusting and affectionate. He’s healthy, happy, and ready for his next chapter. All he needs now is someone to bring him home. Bonnie was found abandoned and is learning to live in a home. She needs guidance and the kind of training that any puppy requires; fortunately she's food motivated and a quick study! She's already picked up sit, she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate, and she doesn't bark. She has no issues with resource guarding or separation anxiety. Bonnie is a very good girl, but she's still a baby. She needs an adopter who is home a fair bit and able to put the time and effort into training her to be the best dog she can be. She is excited by life and the world with puppy enthusiasm for other dogs, people, and the outdoors! Someone who can guide her through all this excitement with gentleness and consistency would be the perfect companion. Bonnie is very curious. She likes to watch TV and when you talk to her, she loves to talk (howl) back. A little conversationalist! She's also very agile and has so much fun playing fetch. She'd do great in a home with a playful, young dog but would probably be annoying to an older dog as she has a boundless appetite for play. Because she's currently in the chewy puppy phase she'd do best in a home with no young kids. Bonnie is a true delight and a little ray of sunshine. She brings the puppy chaos, sure, but also the puppy fun, zest for life, and undeniable cuteness. She's been through a lot in her young life, and we want to find her a soft place to land with someone who will be as loyal and invested in her and she's sure to be in them.
