**IF THIS LISTING IS STILL POSTED THIS DOG IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. NO NEED TO EMAIL ASKING IF THE DOG IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Peach! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Peach is a female 5 year old golden retriever and she loves you too, even though she hasn't met you yet! She is about 60 lbs and is a smaller Golden Retriever. Peach found her way into Pound Dog Rescue from a for-profit puppy mill situation, but you would never know based on her personality. She has never hesitated to meet a new person, and has the most gentle manner about her. She will approach strangers and without prompting, sit very nicely, and if the confused stranger needs guidance on the next steps she will gently lick their fingers to help them realize that she should be receiving pats at this time. How helpful! Peach has not shown any fear of people, and would love to live with a forever family where she can remain social, as it makes her very happy to meet new people. She absolutely loves people! Peach has met a wide range of people, and is not afraid of men, people with assistive devices or the happy squeals of younger children. The one thing you can tell about Peach in regards to her origins is her coat--she does have some filling out to do in terms of her hair coat, as it was a little sparse in the feathering department when she came to us. She had a few bald patches on her legs and staining on her feet, and may still lick at these areas (loudly, a princess must announce herself). With continued care and a high quality, balanced diet, Peach will continue her beautification, just as a princess deserves! Peach handles all grooming very well so far, including bathing, nail trims and brushing. She will be a higher shedding dog, especially as her coat continues to fill out. Peach does tend to be a picky eater. She is still adjusting to eating kibble, and does not always finish her meals. Coming from a puppy mill with irregular feeding and types of food, she is not always sure that her regular diet is edible. She may appreciate the opportunity to be a "grazer" with her portion of food measured out for her to nibble at, as she does tend to eat the best in the evening. She does love treats though and takes them very gently. Housetraining is progressing well for Peach. In the first few days she had some accidents on the carpet, but once we learned her routine (she likes to pee twice in the morning!) she has been much better. She will need to be watched to continue to have success as she transitions into your home, as she does not alert at this time. Peach has not soiled her kennel. While generally non-destructive in the home, Peach cannot have blankets in her crate. While she initially appreciated her soft bed, the mood struck her and she consumed a large strip of her bedding. Thankfully she did not have any medical complications from this as she vomited it out, it will always be a risk to have blankets, socks, hand towels and similar items in her reach. Any children must be careful with their toys, as Peach would likely take them too. Being a retriever who has not been able to express certain breed traits like retrieving, she loves to collect soft items in her kennel, which must be taken from her if she is not supervised. She has not tried to consume or destroy soft plush toys...but we would not put it past her to try if the mood struck. Sturdy, reinforced, size-appropriate toys are a must! It is her favourite thing to transport each toy one by one to her kennel and sit down with all of them. She has not displayed any resource guarding with her toys, and will happily accept petting as payment for a job well done. When she is not gathering toys, Peach loves to lay down near you in the house. She relaxes very easily in the home, and prefers to be one room away at most. She is fairly content to nap most of the time, but does have moments of activity and curiosity where she can get into trouble. She absolutely will attempt to counter-surf and inspect items on tabletops if she is not corrected. Peach is mostly interested if there are food items on the table, and must be watched and her training to not touch these items will need to be continued. As Peach loves people so much, she does have some separation anxiety. She is generally crated for varied periods throughout the day to practice independence, and generally does well as long as she doesn't feel she is missing out, which is typically when she sees her family going out with the other dogs specifically. If she becomes anxious in her crate, she tends to bark loudly with her odd bark, and has also attempted to bite the bars of her kennel. Her forever home must invest in a plastic kennel with a bite-resistant design to keep her safe. It is very uncommon for her to bite at the bars, but it has happened. She does settle after some time (sometimes 30 mins or more), but we would not recommend apartment living due to her royal disagreement with being alone. Peach will always go into her kennel when asked, and is often napping in the kennel with the door open (as long as the mandatory one room away rule is in effect!). Although she does kennel well the majority of the time, she will prefer a home where her family either has the ability to work from home, or has some measures in place for a dog walker or something similar to break up a typical workday. Continuing to provide kennel training for her is good for her overall well-being, as dogs often experience crating in the wider world at the groomer, veterinarian or in vehicles. Practice makes perfect! Peach enjoys other dogs, but it is not mandatory for her to live in a multi-dog household, as she is always more interested in the people if she had to choose. She is excited when our two dogs are playing, and will run around with them outside. Peach has met both small and larger dogs easily. She does tend to be intrusive with her sniffing sometimes, and does not always read cues when other dogs need space, so her new home will need to help her break an overly-long sniff if needed. She is usually content to sniff and meet another dog, then coexists with them peacefully and does not pester them further. Peach has not displayed resource guarding around our dogs and is generally well-mannered. Peach is also cat friendly! She is not excited by our cats playing, and our cats love to show her affection. She calmly accepts their praise, and respects their space. She does not sniff at or pursue our cats in any way. On walks, Peach is generally well-behaved. She is not reactive to other dogs or wildlife. Peach is walked on a martingale to prevent her from slipping her collar by accident, but she has not really been startled or a strong flight risk compared to some other puppy mill dogs. She needs continued work learning how to walk well, and must only be walked by adult or older teenage family members. She takes a moment to get her bearings and understand that walking forward is what you want her to do. Peach is the type of dog to try to anticipate your needs, so if she sees a car she assumes she must go into the car! If you seem like you would like to go in this door, she must go there BRISKLY. She will pull when she thinks she has figured out what you want from her, but will stop as soon as you do, trying to figure out where she went wrong. With some consistency and guidance, Peach settles in well and loves to stroll along, meet human friends, and sniff at the grass and foliage. She will mature into a lovely walking partner with more training. She is a medium energy level dog, and will likely love longer walks as she becomes more accustomed to walking next to you. She is not bothered by higher traffic flows, but we would not recommend walking her right beside a busy street as she loves to tiptoe in the gutter on her way to what must be her royal chariot...right?! As you can probably tell from her willingness to get into each and every car, Peach is a fairly good traveller. She has been nauseous a few times, but generally climbs in on her own, lays down, and is quiet and content for the ride. If she is nauseous it is usually during the "parking" phase where multiple short turns and backing up can upset her stomach. She travels in the backseat of the car, but would also likely travel well in an appropriately sized crate to be more secure if needed. Peach has a very strong desire to please, and thrives on physical affection and verbal praise. She is a big suck and is often squeaking softly when you give her attention. She loves to roll over for belly rubs, and would let you dote on her for hours if you wanted to. She can live most home and family settings well, but we don't recommend her living with very young children due to her tendency to counter-surf and collect and potentially destroy or consume cloth items...that is a lot to manage! Will Princess Peach be yours? She would love to meet you. Thank you for reading her story and considering a rescue dog. Hello! My Bob!I am a sensitive boy. I sometimes bark at new people or shy away from them until I see that they aren't threatening and then I wiggle over to say hello. I would love to join a family that will help me build my confidence through positive training methods. Due to my sensitive nature I would not do well in a home with a harsh or firm training approach.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Teenagers should be ok. But given I can be jumpy, particularly when stressed, I wouldn't be a suitable match for young children.OTHER DOGS: Yes, I would enjoy a playmate and this would be a good way for me to get out my energy!CATS: No, I have done poorly with cats in the past and will not be suitable to live with cats.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best with someone that has previous dog experience given my timid nature and energy needs.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended so that I have a safe space to run.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: AnySOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily but I am used to having someone home all day so I wouldn't be ideal for a home where I would be alone for a full work day.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-highI'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: NoHOUSE-TRAINED: YesIf you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!

**IF THIS LISTING IS STILL POSTED THIS DOG IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. NO NEED TO EMAIL ASKING IF THE DOG IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Reesie! Meet one of the most adorable puppies EVER, Reesie. Reesie is a 16 week old Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever/ Poodle mix) puppy who is about 25lbs, and growing quickly. She will be a big girl (50lb + full grown) and the way her fur grows she will have a beautiful shag to her. She has the softest wavy golden/tan coat, a fluff ball. Reesie came into the care due to being discarded from a local puppy mill. The family/persons that eventually adopts her will be so lucky to have this girl that beams with confidence and has quite the sweet, spunky personality. She will be up for anything and everything with her new family/persons. Reesie is very active, happy, and a loveable puppy. She will bring much love into the household. Reesie’s absolute favourite things in life is loving humans, being loved, and food and not necessarily in that order. Reesie is exactly what you would expect from a Goldendoodle puppy, she is adorably goofy, friendly, super playful, and so sweet. She’s a little goofball who wants to be the center of attention. She loves to be involved and often if I’m in the middle of something a little fluffy head will poke in just to check to see if I need any help and if you’re sitting on the couch or chair she will situate herself right on you. Reesie has three modes: asleep, awake but cute and cuddly, and pure playful puppy! Doodles are mixed breed dogs and therefore exhibit a spectrum of behaviours that are present in the breeds of their parents, however there are some behavioural characteristics that are very common that people should make note of. First, Doodles have a tendency to be very social dogs that do much better with their people around and engaged with them more than not. A Doodle that is left alone for long periods of time regularly can develop depression, anxiety, become obsessive about certain activities and these can result in other destructive behaviours. Doodles also have a tendency to be high energy dogs that need an abundance of mental and physical exercise, especially as they are growing into adulthood. These are not couch potato dogs that are content with a few short walks a day. If you have a more laid back lifestyle and are a homebody, a Doodle will NOT likely be a great match for you. They are very intelligent dogs who like to work, so taking them beyond basic training is highly recommended to help them live their best life. They like to push boundaries and challenge you and many Doodle owners have claimed their dogs are always two to three steps ahead of them! I would like to make very clear here that Reesie is NOT hypoallergenic. She is a “Goldendoodle” which means she is part Golden Retriever, a shedding dog. Her fur is so soft and fluffy and it’s impossible to not bury your face into her to give kisses. If you are allergic to dogs and expecting to do this without sneezing you are out of luck! She will not be a suitable dog for allergy sufferers, sorry! Reesie also requires regular brushing as his fur will easily mat up if not kept up. Regular trips to the groomer to keep her nicely trimmed will also be required. There is quite a bit of upkeep with this coat type and it can become a huge mess quickly so the time and energy to keep up this type of coat will have to be taken into consideration as well. This is quite the undertaking and not something everyone wants to take on or has the time or desire to do. If you have the time and will to take on a big commitment, then Reesie just might be the right girl for you. Reesie is a very smart dog and a quick learner, she is doing a fantastic job with house training, sleeping in her crate at night and has the basic commands under her. Though she is very young she has caught on to going to the door when she needs to go potty. She loves knowing she will get a treat after. Her new humans will need to stay on top of her housetraining so she can continue with her progress. She is not very happy with her crate time during the daytime, we work on this daily and are finding that a routine is the way to go with her. Her picking up on training is going very well, she knows the commands, come, sit, down, paw. Consistent work is need on commands, so her new humans will need to dedicate time for this many times throughout the day. Reesie’s perfect home will be one with humans who are not away for long periods of the day. She can be left alone for short periods, as she does have separation anxiety. We are working with her on this daily so that when she is ready to leave to go to her forever home she will be better. Even though she does not like her crate during the day she has no problem sleeping in it a night/bedtime. She does have, and likes her night routine, getting some quite cuddle time before hand. She can sleep 6 hours through the night, as long as she does her duty right before bed. You will need to be patience with her not wanting to be in a crate especially during the day. She just wants to be with her people so much and with her energy level for her to have to hold that in for long is just not fair to her. With the energy Reesie has and the amounts she runs around now as a pup, a large yard would be important. I can see playing fetch will be a big part of her life and she would love to be able to do this in her own yard. As well will be a great helper with any yard work, or just lazing around with a toy or bone. If she does not get outside enough she will be like a toddler in the house and grab anything just to keep busy, will definitely keep you on your toes. If you try to be stern with her she looks at you with those big loving eyes that melt your heart, so you will need to be a strong leader. You will realize very quickly why the proper exercise will be a must. Reesie will require her people to be very active and athletic as she is going to need a good amount of fast paced exercise as she matures into an adult dog. She is not a dog that will be content with simple walks, this is a dog that requires running, hiking, dog sports etc in order to be sated. She needs this daily outlet of physical activity in order to be a happy, well-adjusted dog. If you aren’t already a very active, outdoorsy, and all weather type of person Reesie won’t be the right pup for you. Reesie could happily go to a home with children age 8 or older. Reesie still hasn’t totally learned how not to nip and chew and though her nibbles to us as adults are quite soft, for young children it could be painful. That being said Reesie would make a fantastic companion for a family with older children as she is lots of fun and has a wonderful playful energy. Reesie is in a home with two foster siblings, that she is smitten with. She would do well in a home that has another playful dog that is male. She is a very confident female pup and will not enjoy sharing her home space with another female dog; there can only be one queen in the palace!! She is still learning her boundaries and is growing fast so a dog that will be a larger dog like her when she is fully grown is best, one that can handle a spunky pup bothering them. Her forever family will need to be confident with a large adult goofball of a dog. It’s hard to say how she would behave around a cat but likely she would be her playful self and not know how to read the cats signals. She would need to be taught appropriate behaviour around a cat Reesie has done fantastic with her training so far, but as we all know she is just a puppy and will give your patience a workout when she gets into a lovable goofy mood and inevitably breaks rules that she knows she’s not supposed to break. Reesie’s future family/people must be calm and diligent with correcting her behaviour and giving her lots of praise when she does the right thing. Reesie LOVES making her humans happy and loves being praised, will sit in front of you with a hug smile. She has conquered the come, sit, lay down commands. While working on her commands daily, we will also introduce a new command every second day, she is now working on shake and pretty sit. Her favourite command is ‘come’. Out of all the puppies we have fostered I have not seen one react so fast and be so proud as Reesie when she is called. She will make her new family/people so proud to have her by their side. Even though she learns fast we want to remind potential adopters that she is very new to the world and so she needs guidance and support. She is a good puppy, but a puppy none the less and puppies are tiring and need constant support while they grow and navigate the world. Having previous puppy experience, or experience with a high energy dog would be a great asset for a potential adopter. Reesie likes going on walks with her foster siblings by her side and alone, but she is not fond of the leash attached to any of them. Periodically she will jump up and try to pull it. Her zig zagging is still going strong. We love taking out our puppy fosters on big adventures, so they are introduced to many things in the environment, like noises and objects. The adventures teach them to problem solve by having to navigate over/under/around obstacles like, logs, water, branches etc.… It helps to build their confidence and build a trusting bond with their humans, which always make for a well round behaved dog. Once Reesie is older she will need a few long walks a day. One of these walks could be substituted with a jog/bike/or hiking or a big play in the backyard with her humans interacting. She is fantastic on fetch, brings it right back to you for her next throw. If she gets the needed amount of exercise physical and mental she will be an outstanding girl. In between her physical exercise she does love her mental stimulation play time, which is her training as well sniffing/finding games. If she plays hard she will crash hard, which will be one of your favourite times with her as she loves to snuggle and cuddle. She will lay right on your lap, belly up and rubs will put her right to sleep. Overall Reesie is the epitome of what you would expect of a “Goldendoodle” puppy. She is loving, goofy, and super sweet. She is clingy and curious and a companion animal through and through. Reesie is going to make a family/people VERY happy and will be a great addition to anyone with an active lifestyle who has a lot of time and love to give. We cannot wait to see Reesie in her forever home so that she can continue to give her whole heart to her people. Story
Meet Syla Golden Retriever 4 years old Female Microchipped and vaccinated Not spayed Follows basic commands Crate trained as a puppy but now free roams We brought miss Syla home in September 2019 as a gift to our first daughter who was 3 at the time. Their bond became so strong immediately. Syla has always shown her affection through cuddles, smiling and playing. Syla loves her toys, fetching a ball, having her treats and going for family walks Unfortunately, Syla was not socialized with many other dogs through the pandemic. She is familiar with a small, older, family dog. Due to this, Syla is not great at sharing her toys and food with other dogs. Syla shows territorial behaviour by growling and nipping if a dog comes near her toys and food. Syla will allow adults and older children to go near her when she’s eating and playing. Most recently she has shown anxieties towards our youngest daughter who is 7 months. Syla bit our baby who crawled towards her when she was playing with her toy. We have also noticed Syla start to shake when she is around the baby and we believe it’s because she has never experienced a child smaller then 3 years old in her life time. Besides the above behaviours, Syla has been an amazing family dog. She is so happy, loving and just wants attention all day and night. If you need a hug, she will be the first person to give it to you. She loves her walks so much that she does get excited and pull at the beginning but does eventually calm down. Syla has not been off leash trained but on the odd time she’s not on a leash, she does not go far from us. She also loves to swim and catching bubbles with her family. Syla needs an owner who has time to take her for walks, plays with her and loves her unconditionally. She would thrive at a forever home with some land. Her new owner must have patience with her and work with her through her territorial behaviours with her food and toys. Syla has never been around cats, so we are unsure how she’d react to them. Syla would probably do best in a home with no kids or atleast older children. Syla deserves the best family who will treat her like their own child. This is a courtesy listing. If you would like to provide Syla with her forever home, please contact Brianna Drys at briannadrys@gmail.com.

*Skippy is currently fostered in St. Catharines Ontario*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Sweet Skippy was surrendered to us from another rescue who found him as a stray. He is a VERY playful guy who will do well with a very active family. He loves to run and play with the other dogs in his play group. His foster says that what strikes her about this dog is how affectionate and loving he is. He craves attention and is a big ol goof ball. He will climb into your lap if you are on the floor with him and just loves loves to be cuddled. He is a puppy in a big boy body. He is the perfect not too big, not too small size. He gets along great with dogs both large and small and will do well in a multi dog home or as an only dog. He has a beautiful shiny coat and stunning eyes. CANADIAN FOSTER: Skippy is a little shy when be first meets you, but once he knows you, you have a friend for life. Skippy likes to be close to his people so hell hop up and nuzzle into you on a couch or bed. Skippy will do anything for praise. He is so incredibly sweet and gentle, and just needs structure and consistency to be an amazing companion. When he first arrived he was curious about whats on countertops (a little bit of a 'counter surfer'), but that has disappeared now that he is used to his home environment. Skippy lives in a home with a high energy dog. He loves playing tug of war, wrestling and running, but he equally enjoys his down time. He likes dogs, but truly is all about people, napping and cuddling. He is a bouncy boy, so he could knock over a smaller child, but he is just clumsy, and is a very gentle boy. All in all a super sweet deserving boy!Name Skippy (aka Skip)Weight ~62lbAge: ~1.5 yearsGender: MaleBreed: Golden retriever/Aussie mixColour: BrownMedical: No concernsFixed: YesGood with adults: YesGood with kids 0-6: Unknown Good with kids 6+: YesGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Not testedHouse trained: YesCrate trained: Yes.
