Story
Bonnie is a joyful, ten month old sweetheart who is equal parts snuggly and spirited. She is smart, people oriented, and full of the kind of energy that makes every day feel like an adventure. Once her exercise and enrichment needs are met, she settles beautifully and is more than happy to curl up beside you on the couch. She is crate trained and does wonderfully overnight. She willingly goes into her crate for rest or breaks and relaxes quietly when left alone. Bonnie is still working on house training, but she will potty as soon as she goes outside and accidents are rare with supervision. She is learning her cues, already has a lovely recall for her age, and enjoys practicing the basics. Bonnie loves children and feels very comfortable with them. She is gentle, playful, and happy to join in their fun. If kids are running and squealing, she may chase in excitement, although she redirects easily with calm guidance. She is good with cats and shows polite curiosity without chasing. She has done beautifully with other dogs, especially active ones, and would thrive in a home with a canine buddy. She has met chickens with interest but leaves them alone. This girl enjoys walks, hikes, and any chance to explore. She walks with a loose lead, stays close, and can be redirected if wildlife distracts her. She's a big chewer, so she’ll need a good supply of appropriate chew items and simple redirection as she continues learning. She has especially loved antlers and yak bones in her Foster home. Bonnie is affectionate, cuddly, eager to please, and easygoing. Her foster describes her as one of the easiest dogs they have cared for once she understood the routine. She is social with people and dogs of all ages and receives compliments everywhere she goes. Bonnie is a truly special young dog who will shine in an active home that enjoys exercise, training, and plenty of outdoor fun. With structure, patience, and love, she will be an incredible companion for a very lucky family. At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2567927##

Meet Bear - Bear is about 1 year old and weighs about 40 pounds. Bear is a very sweet dog. He is wonderful with children of all ages. Bear is playful and enjoys getting chased or chasing another dog. He also enjoys a good cuddle on the couch. Bear loves other dogs and will require another young and playful dog in his forever home. Bear will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to work on house training and crate training - no exceptions! Bear is neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee for this puppy is $375.00. The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Snickers! 🍫 Snickers is one of Fern’s adorable puppies — born on August 5, 2025, and currently weighing around 15 lbs. We’re not sure of his exact breed mix, but our best guess is Retriever/Hound mix. Fern is Snickers mom and she weighs in at 27 lbs. Whatever his mix, Snickers is a sweet, playful pup who loves attention and cuddles! Snickers is good with other dogs and young enough to learn about cats. Snickers loves to play with his doggie toys and running around the backyard. If you’re looking for a fun, loving companion to grow up with, Snickers might be the perfect fit for your family! 💕 Because Snickers is still a baby, he’ll need an adopter who is home a good portion of the day to continue his training and socialization — no exceptions. This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: joshuahtrescue@gmail.com SPECIAL ADOPTER BENEFIT: A generous sponsor donated $475 in positive reinforcement training for Snowy. PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ Snowy wants to meet you! And you will enjoy meeting him. Snowy is the sweetest, most tenderhearted boy you’ll ever meet. Snowy isn’t just affectionate… he radiates love. This gentle soul loves giving big, warm hugs, the kind where he melts into you like you’re his safe place. When he’s happy (which is often!), he proudly parades around with a toy in his mouth, his whole body wiggling with joy. It’s impossible not to smile when Snowy is celebrating life right in front of you. He is, truly, incredibly endearing. At home, Snowy is a dream — house-trained, crate-trained, quiet, and wonderfully polite. He adores belly rubs, enrichment games, and bringing you his leash or toys to let you know he’s ready for fun. Snowy also loves house guests - more people to love on! He’s smart, food-motivated, and more than willing to learn… you could probably even teach him to fetch your slippers. Snowy walks nicely on leash, and he’s making steady progress learning to pass other dogs calmly with the help of treats, encouragement, and structure. A fenced backyard where he can run and play would make him extra happy. Snowy thrives as the only pet and does best with someone experienced or excited to continue gentle training. He’s fantastic with kids, great in the car, loves exploring, and keeps his foster family laughing with his goofy charm and tender, loving nature. He’ll be happiest in a suburban setting where he won’t be approached by lots of unfamiliar dogs. Ready to meet your new best friend? Snowy is waiting!
