If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: joshuahtrescue@gmail.com SPECIAL ADOPTER BENEFIT: A generous sponsor donated $475 in positive reinforcement training for Snowy. PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ Snowy wants to meet you! And you will enjoy meeting him. Snowy is the sweetest, most tenderhearted boy you’ll ever meet. Snowy isn’t just affectionate… he radiates love. This gentle soul loves giving big, warm hugs, the kind where he melts into you like you’re his safe place. When he’s happy (which is often!), he proudly parades around with a toy in his mouth, his whole body wiggling with joy. It’s impossible not to smile when Snowy is celebrating life right in front of you. He is, truly, incredibly endearing. At home, Snowy is a dream — house-trained, crate-trained, quiet, and wonderfully polite. He adores belly rubs, enrichment games, and bringing you his leash or toys to let you know he’s ready for fun. Snowy also loves house guests - more people to love on! He’s smart, food-motivated, and more than willing to learn… you could probably even teach him to fetch your slippers. Snowy walks nicely on leash, and he’s making steady progress learning to pass other dogs calmly with the help of treats, encouragement, and structure. A fenced backyard where he can run and play would make him extra happy. Snowy thrives as the only pet and does best with someone experienced or excited to continue gentle training. He’s fantastic with kids, great in the car, loves exploring, and keeps his foster family laughing with his goofy charm and tender, loving nature. He’ll be happiest in a suburban setting where he won’t be approached by lots of unfamiliar dogs. Ready to meet your new best friend? Snowy is waiting! Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: Since we do not know the breed/size of her parents, it is hard to estimate. Our best guess is that she will be a medium sized dog. -ESTIMATED AGE: 4 months -KNOWN WITH DOGS: She’s great with the other 2 dogs in her foster home. -KNOWN WITH CATS: There is not a cat in her foster home, so we are not sure. She has not been tested with cats. -KNOWN WITH KIDS: She’s in a foster home with a 10 and 12 yo, and loves them. She has met several kids in the neighborhood and really enjoys the love and attention they give her. -KNOWN CUES: She’s working on sit and showing us she is a very smart little baby! She’s highly motivated by treats and praise, so she would make a great student in a puppy kindergarten class. Her adopters should plan to take her to a training class to help her learn the basics and have socialization with other puppies. Her attentive personality and eagerness to please will make her a fast learner. -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: She’s making great progress on housebreaking considering her age. She gets so excited after she potties outside to get her treat and pets. With structure and following potty training best practices, she will continue to do just fine on housebreaking. She sleeps in a crate in her foster’s bedroom at night and does great. -KNOWN LIKES: She adores people and is so happy to get love and attention from anyone who wants to love on her. Belly rubs, being carried around, playing with people, etc. She also likes toys, chewing a teething ring or bully stick, and finding treats in a snuffle mat. She likes playing with her foster brother (1 year old dog) but is more people-focused than dog-focused and would prefer to spend her time with you. When she’s outside, she loves to find a big piece of mulch and play with it like it’s the coolest toy ever. Also a fan of chasing crispy leaves blowing down the sidewalk in the fall breeze. -KNOWN DISLIKES: She’s not a fan of being left alone, but getting used to time in her puppy pen by herself. This is normal for a puppy her age who has only recently left her littermates. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Athena is truly a gem, and has such a lovely personality and temperament. She’s funny, sweet, and loving. She’s met kids and adults of different ages, races, and genders and loves everyone. Athena is a wonderful puppy who loves to play and cuddle. She loves playing tug of war and fetch, and then cuddling up to enjoy a nap. Her favorite place to sleep is in front of a sunny window or door. Athena is food motivated and praise motivated making her an easy puppy to train. She is also doing very well on letting her fosters know when she needs to go outside and thus, her housebreaking is going very well. She's one smart pup. An interesting thing that makes her unique is that she has a double dew claw on one of her back feet. This is common in some breeds, so maybe a clue to her breed mix, or maybe just something special about her. Athena and her littemates (Popcorn and Little Wiggles) are pups who came to HT from a rural shelter. They were unwanted puppies that were dumped and picked up as strays. Despite their rough start, they are so loving and sweet. They are thriving and active and will make wonderful family members! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: sueb@homewardtrails.org FOSTER NOTES: Athena (we call her Thee-thee ) is a great little puppy with a lovely personality. She lives with a 10 and 12 year old and seems to really enjoy kids. She has met several kids in the neighborhood of different races, ages, and genders and is very sweet with them. She can be just the tiniest bit nervous meeting a new person but then is all love as soon as she hears a kind word. She loves a snuggle or a belly rub; and can be quite energetic and playful. As with any puppy, she might be too rambunctious for the youngest kids since she's still learning about jumping and she is teething. She is doing quite well with house-breaking. She still isn't physically able to hold her pee very long, so needs frequent breaks, but she definitely gets the idea that she should be going outside in the grass. She does fine overnight in her crate as well. With structure and routine, she rarely has accidents inside. Because she had parvo and then kennel cough, we have needed to keep her away from other dogs, but she does well with our 2 dogs. She gives our grumpy senior space and plays with our one year old (she likes wrestling, and playing chase games with him). She sometimes barks at dogs she sees when we walk her (she might be copying my grumpy senior). She has not met a cat as far as I know. A fun fact about her is that she has a double dew claw on one of her back legs, which could be a clue about her breed, or just something that makes her unique. Story
Zoey's previous foster shared that she is a loving golden retriever. She is very affectionate once she gets to know you. Zoey is always happy to sit and sleep right at your feet while you are home. She is house trained and if left alone will tirelessly look out the window waiting for your return. She walks well, but has a small prey drive. Someone has to keep those nosy squirrels from interrupting her owner's walk. She's always up to play games. You will know when she wants to play as she'll bring her tug-o-war rope to your chair or drop tennis balls on your lap for some quality fetch time. She is a bit of an alpha dog and plays well with some dogs but not others. With that being the case, we think she would do better as a solo dog in the home or a slow controlled introduction if there are other pets. Please let us know if you would like to meet Zoey A! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: The Lee pups are coming to HT from a rural shelter. They were unwanted, accidental puppies. They will need help with training and socialization but are oh so sweet! Notes from the foster: Wiggles is a lovable, happy guy. He really enjoys running around in the yard and laying in the sun. He allowed me to bathe him and cut his nails without any struggle. He is a very active puppy who likes to be running around and playing but when he decides to settle down, he crashes, hard and loves to cuddle. Rev. 10/25 IMPORTANT: Please make your spay/neuter appointment with us or your own vets WELL IN ADVANCE of the due date as several factors including severe veterinarian shortage continue to impact vet appointments and surgical procedures so please plan way ahead! Our low-cost spay/neuter option is approximately 70% less expensive than what most vets charge. Please do your research BEFORE selecting an adoption fee package. You will have to bring your pet to/from the Adoption Center if you choose to do the spay/neuter through HT. If you select the package with spay and neuter, rabies is only included if your puppy is being spayed or neutered at 4 months old. If the procedure is done after that for any reason, rabies is not included and would be an additional cost to you. All adoption fees help not only to rescue the animal being adopted but generates revenue to pay for the hundreds of sick and injured animals we take in every year. New Adoption Benefit Program Kathleen Alvania CTC, CPDT-KA, FFCP Family Paws Parent Educator https://treatsandtriumphs.com/ Kathleen has a class called Puppy Dream Team, and it's for puppies from 3-8 months old at the start date. The goal is to bridge the gap between early puppy classes and adult manners/obedience, and to help set puppies and their families up for success in adolescence. The class is open enrollment, so puppy "teams" can start whenever it works for them, then they attend 5 classes in a row. They also get a private, 45-minute orientation (in-person or virtual) before their first class. Tuition is $330. Homeward Trails EXCLUSIVE Discounts ● For the first 3 months, I'd like to offer all adopters with eligible puppies 10% off. ● Fosters with eligible puppies can attend for free any week there's an open slot. They don't have to attend all 5 weeks. (Since it's open enrollment, each session is designed to be able to stand on its own.) ● Staff can attend the entire course and private orientation for free. If you want to take advantage of these discounts email Kathleen at kathleen@treatsandtriumphs.com
