Story
This is Canelo — a sweet, nearly 7-year-old doodle with a heart full of love and energy to share. Canelo brings life and joy to any home. He’s active (sometimes a bit on the playful side!), but always in a fun, friendly way. He absolutely adores kids and has a gentle, patient nature with them. Whether it’s chasing a ball in the yard, going on walks, or simply being close to his people, Canelo is always ready to be part of the action. He’s house-trained, healthy, and fully up to date on all his vaccinations. What we’ll miss most are his cheerful energy, goofy personality, and the deep loyalty he shows once he bonds with you. We’re hoping to find Canelo a forever home where he can continue to thrive — ideally with a yard to run in and someone who enjoys the outdoors as much as he does. Most of all, we want him to be with someone who will love him like family. If you think you could be that person, we’d love to hear from you. Canelo is ready to bring love, laughter, and plenty of tai

Story
NOTE: MILLIE IS WITH HER PEOPLE IN SANTA ROSA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET MILLIE. WE ARE LISTING MILLIE ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO. "Millie" is a beautiful, 3½-yo, 65-lb, AKC-registered spayed female GSD who is sweet, protective and silly. Millie is healthy, microchipped and up-to-date on core vaccinations. Millie is fine with people who she meets when away from the house, but inside the house she is very protective of her people so they have to put her in her crate when people that she does not know come inside. Her people believe that Millie would do well with someone who has a property where she can run her heart out. Millie used to be OK with children, but recently she had a couple incidents in which she lunged at one of the two kids she lives with (8 & 10 yrs old). The first incident occurred after the older child had handled a friend’s dog, and the second incident occurred after the younger child had handled a friend’s cat. Neither incident resulted in a bite, but it was very scary for all involved. So, a home without children is now in order for Millie. Millie is good with medium & large-size dogs, but NOT with little dogs. She routinely attends a doggy day care where she plays well with the other dogs. Millie has never been around cats and likely would not do well with them. So, we are seeking a home without cats for Millie. Millie is housetrained and is left free to roam inside when her people are gone for several hours. She received formal obedience training when she was a puppy. Millie walks great on a leash and is non-reactive towards other dogs who she sees when on walks. Millie’s off-leash recall could use some improvement. Millie is a calm passenger in a vehicle. She loves to play with balls. Millie’s people purchased her from a breeder in Cotati when she was a puppy. Though Millie is a very valued member of the family, the two near-bite incidents with the children have made it stressful to manage her—keeping doors closed, separating her from visitors, and worrying constantly about kids in the house. The anxiety has become too much for the family, so they are now seeking a new home for Millie. Millie is located in Santa Rosa. Her adoption fee is $100. Please contact Anya Cunningham at anya@Linkcpa.com or 707-758-9633.

Story
Billy is a loving, happy, easy going boy. He loves his soft toys that he can suck on, not rip apart, and loves playing fetch but gets tired easily so after a few good throws he will lay down next to you as if the days over. He loves playing with other dogs and letting them get him. Although hes bigger, he loves submitting and getting tackled. Even by cats! He grew up around 2 cats and they dominated the house so hes plenty comfortable and actually loves his fellow small friends. He has a funny and vibrant personality, throwing his head back when he gets in trouble as though he is a toddler erupting into a tantrum. He loves cuddles, hugs and since he grew up with cat, he loves being a lap dog at 58 pounds. Little will you notice a big fluffy ball on your lap(and the rest of your chair) while you scroll on your phone. Hes the bestest friend anyone could ask for and I know someone will be happy to have him as theirs. He need a home with a backyard and someone to give him butt scatches

Story
We have a transport leaving on 2/21/26 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Layla to our trip for the right family 😊 Layla is a beautiful 3-year-old purebred Standard Poodle who truly embodies everything people love about the breed and then some. She is set to be spayed on 2/3/26, and once that is complete, her adoption listing will be updated to reflect all final veterinary care. Prior to being cleared for adoption, Layla will be fully vetted, including being spayed, having her yearly vaccines brought current, being microchipped and registered, and receiving a thorough exam with our trusted veterinarian. Layla weighs approximately between 45–50 lbs, and I will update her exact weight at her spay appointment. She is not a big girl by any means—leggy, yes, but that is natural for a poodle. She is naturally lean, petite, and beautifully built 💕 She is wonderful with other dogs and cats alike, but her true joy comes from her humans. Layla is happiest when your eyes and hands are on her 😊 She has the most contagious smile, and it’s nearly impossible not to feel that same joy radiating back at you when she’s around. She truly is all that you love about the poodle breed—loyal, confident, intelligent, sweet, doting, caring, attentive, and the absolute best friend you could ever ask for. I could go on for days about how incredible she is and how blessed you will be to have her join you in life. Layla is wonderful in the home and has impeccable house manners. She is crate trained and sleeps peacefully in her crate all night long. She knows her crate well and will walk right in the moment it’s opened for her. That said, she is very adaptable and could easily transition to sleeping on a bed beside you if that’s what you prefer—because who wouldn’t want to be closer to the ones they love? She is not a barker, but she will alert you if she feels something unfamiliar is worth investigating. She listens beautifully, allows her person to lead in any situation, and has incredible eye contact. At times it truly feels like she’s reading your thoughts before you even say a word. Layla is wonderful at the groomer, and while she doesn’t currently have a traditional poodle cut, once her coat is fully grown back she will be just as stunning as ever. She travels exceptionally well and does great on road trips of any length. She knows sit, stay, come, and “off.” Layla does love to give hugs—very gently and with so much emotion and love. While we don’t encourage jumping, her hugs are done so sweetly that we allow them on occasion, while also making sure she understands “off” for anyone who may not appreciate a loving poodle embrace. Layla came to us after her prior owner sadly passed away. Without immediate living family or children, a kind neighbor reached out to us. She already had three dogs of her own but knew Layla deserved to be somewhere safe and loving rather than placed in a cold shelter. Her goal was simple—to see Layla return to a home where she would be loved the way she always had been. Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/layla This includes her spay, current yearly vaccines, microchip and registration, veterinary exam, and the care, grooming, and training she has received while in our care. If anything additional is required, such as a dental cleaning, the adoption fee will be adjusted accordingly to help offset those costs.

We would love to add Gemma to our trip for the right family 😊 Gemma is a truly special girl, and the kind of dog who quietly changes your life once she chooses you as her person. She is a 3-year-old Aussiedoodle with a very fine, wavy to slightly curly coat that is hypoallergenic, so you won’t have to worry about shedding. Gemma is small framed and naturally petite, estimating around 35–40 lbs, and she is fully grown. Her weight will be updated following her upcoming spay. Gemma is set to be spayed on 2/3/26, and her adoption listing will be updated once that is complete to include all finalized veterinary care. Temperament-wise, Gemma is nothing short of exceptional. She is sweet, kind, loving, attentive, and incredibly intelligent — observant in a way that is hard to put into words. She prefers to be near her person, always aware of where you are, quietly devoted, and eager to become someone’s lifelong companion. She is cautious by nature when meeting new people, so we are looking for a confident and patient adopter who understands that Gemma opens her heart thoughtfully. But once she does, she never closes it again. When Gemma loves you, that bond runs deep and lasts a lifetime. Gemma is wonderful with other dogs, both big and small, and she adores children. She loves our family as a whole — men, women, and children alike — and once she loves you, that’s it. She is not a barker, but she will alert you to unfamiliar noises. She has excellent house manners, travels beautifully on road trips of any length, and is absolutely phenomenal at the groomer. Energy-wise, Gemma is beautifully balanced. She is not high energy, but she has no trouble keeping up with you and whatever adventures the day may bring. At the same time, she is perfectly content to relax, cuddle, and simply be close to you. Gemma came to us because her previous owner loved her deeply but did not have the space she deserved. Rather than confining her to a small area, she made the selfless decision to give Gemma the chance at a fuller, happier life — one with room to thrive. Gemma is an incredible dog in every sense. She is gentle, loyal, and deeply devoted, and she will make someone unbelievably happy to spend their life with. Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/gemma-1 This includes her spay, vaccines, microchip and registration, and exam with our vet, along with the care, grooming costs, and training she has received while in our care. If anything additional is needed, such as a dental cleaning, the adoption fee may be adjusted to help offset those costs.
