Story
Major is a lovable 60 lb. mini golden doodle. He is 6 and a half years old. He was acquired by my sister-in-law from a breeder during Covid. My sister-in-law passed away two and a half years ago, and Major was very attached to her. She lived with my brother-in-law who has a debilitating illness and unable to keep the dog with him, so we have been fostering Major at our home for the past two months. He is very anxious and needs constant human interaction. He has been through a lot of emotional turbulence and needs a loving home and continuous support. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the breed and committed to continuous training and encouragement for Major. He is really a good boy and just needs some TLC and an understanding of his emotional challenges with ongoing reinforcement and support. We can't keep him as we are busy with elder care and other family commitments, and it is emotionally difficult for us as well because of the memories of my dear sister-in-law.

Story
We originally adopted Lucky from NYC ACC. Lucky is a one year old goldendoodle. He is a very smart and affectionate dog that bonds with people fast. He loves to play with toys and eat treats especially chicken. He knows sit, stay and down. He loves to follow people from room to room. However, he is reactive when outside on walks and has a bite history that has broken skin. We are incredibly heartbroken that we have to rehome him but we do not have the time and resources to manage his behavior. We are looking for a experienced adopter that has the time, resources and patience to help him adjust to a new home, routine and any behavior modification training. He is not good with children and is friendly with most dogs. We are looking for a loving home that will be able to take care of Lucky and provide him with the consistent care and training he needs. We are hoping to find a responsible, experienced adopter to give him the loving home he deserves. Please apply if you may be a good fit.

Story
Sutton - 3 years & 70lbs, Aussiedoodle, Neutered  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Thier Foster Says: Sutton is the gentlest, sweetest horse boy you've ever seen. He's a big guy at 70 pounds, but he folds himself into the cutest little ball and wants nothing more than your love. When he's ready for pets, he nuzzles right into your lap, and he melts when you talk to him, touch him, and tell him he's a good boy (which he is, constantly). He's shy for the first couple of minutes with new people, gets his sniffs in, and then turns into a total cuddle bug with everyone. After just one week with me, Sutton has his routine down. He's up around 7 for a long morning walk, has a shorter stroll at lunch, another long walk in the evening, and a quick lap around the block before bed. By day three he was letting me know when he needed an extra potty trip. On walks he's a dream: he barely pulls, and he keeps glancing back at me to make sure he's going the right way. The sniffs and the new friends along the route are his favorite part. He's polite with other dogs, choosy about who he plays with, and smart enough to steer clear of any dog that seems unfriendly. City noise is still new to him (loud trucks can startle him), but he's settling in a little more every day. At home, Sutton is the ultimate work-from-home buddy. He plops down on his bed next to me and naps until it's time to go out, and some days he's so cozy I have to coax him up for his walk. He follows me from room to room because he just wants to be near his person. He ignores the couch but loves the foot of the bed at night, where he's a very considerate co-sleeper with no sprawling. He doesn't chew anything, doesn't guard his food or toys, and stays quiet when the doorbell rings. He isn't very food-motivated (peanut butter is a hard pass so far) and tends to save his meals for dinner, but he responds beautifully to his name, verbal cues, and praise. He's sweet, sensitive, and loyal, and he'll make someone a wonderful companion/" Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue).  POTTY TRAININGYes – Few or no accidentsCOMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSIn between bean – Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park.BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)Yes for most ages – very confident, gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthySOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGSYes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other caninesRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.) Not sure – Wants to chase squirrels and birds so may not be a good match for a home with cats, rabbits, etc.MOUTHY BEHAVIORPast this stage– Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in their mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtimeSEPARATION ANXIETY (Please leave your foster dog home alone every day for at least 20 minutes.)Adjusting – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise.LEASH MANNERSOld Pro – Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.CUDDLE BUG LEVELHigh – Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the timeJUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLOListens to correction – Only jumps on people they know when really excited, stops with correction.CRATE TRAININGNot at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2860561##
