Our Team Says: "Cookie is an awesome girl. She's come a long way. When she first arrived she hid under a bed for a whole week. But you would have never known if we hadn't told you. She's really become a wonderful dog. One of her foster homes did report that she had seperation anxiety but she is not displaying anything concerning in her current foster home. She does great in a home with a friend (her size or smaller) and if you leave her home alone every single day - starting the day you get her - she gets into a good routine and is perfect home alone for hours at a time. Just drop a treat or a kong for her on your way out and she doesn't worry about you leaving."
Her Foster Parent Says: "Shocking to know in 10 years of fostering non-stop this is our first doodle. They usually get snatached up and we lean towards the heavy shedding breeds. But we're not going to lie - we really love petting her soft fur and our vacuum is getting a nice vacation. Cookie ended up with us because she was having bad separation anxiety in her previous home. We're happy to report that she's been a lamb for us. She just needs the right set up: a home with another dog, really strong communication from her people, to be left home alone every single day - starting the day you bring her home and it doesn't hurt to give her a kong right before you leave. Follow this formula and you have an A plus teddy bear in your home. She's so easy to take care of: potty trained, really good on the leash and non destructive. She loves my resident dog - gives her kisses everyday. She's an awesome work from home buddy and a great snuggle bug (but be careful - you don't want to develop an unhealthy attachment style for her). She's got an incredibly sweet and chill demeanor. She also has the best tail bounce/wag while she walks - it brings a smile to our face every walk we take. If you happen to be a doodle fan and have another dog she's a no brainer for you. She's been an utter joy to have with us."
Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.)
Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)

Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from the South or Puerto Rico ; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake
How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!
This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
