Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi, I’m Basil! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am a sweet girl. HOW OLD ARE YOU? Not sure! Best estimate is that I was born sometime in 2021. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? The greatest…a Great Dane! HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? 110 pounds WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I look amazing, if I do say so myself! I am grey and brown spotted. I have very dark brown eyes and floppy ears. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? Hot dogs! Oh, and I will eat my kibble if you are not offering hot dogs for every meal, I suppose. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I love to spend time with my humans. I am a big napper and enjoy spending time curled up in my bed. I even snore every once in a while! I am very mellow but do enjoy playing with the other dogs in my house. I am a sweet and goofy girl who loves to tap dance when I’m excited. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: Spending time anywhere my humans are and sharing my cozy bed for an afternoon nap with my foster sisters. My life is so great, I feel so lucky that I get to lounge around all day! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I don’t really like toys! My humans think having a toy might make me anxious. Any time I have a toy, I spend the whole time looking for somewhere to hide it. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? Yes! I would really love to show you what I know. When I came to my foster home, I didn’t know any tricks so I’ve been learning lots, including “leave it,” but my favorite is “lay down.” WHAT SCARES YOU? Being by myself! I don’t love when my humans leave, but I don’t even cry anymore. I am very brave! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I have met lots of kids while out and about and do a really good job! I am always gentle and never jump. I am pretty big though, and I could accidentally knock a little one over, so maybe let’s stick to the bigger kids? DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have not met any! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I would do best in a house with another dog who can make me feel more confident. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? In my bed! If I’m not eating or outside, that’s where you’ll find me! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? Pretty good! I have a few missing front teeth but it doesn’t bother me at all. WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and dad, and my friend, Miso, who I was found as a stray with. There is another dog here, and I like her lots too. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I go in my crate. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I go in my crate overnight, but during the day, I’m always on my bed. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? It is the best! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I have a hard time being by myself, so I get nervous when I have to go in my crate. It is getting easier, especially when I get a hot dog. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? Yes! No worries there! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I have never been near water. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I was so nervous at first! They helped me feel more comfortable living inside and living a regular dog life. I love that I get to be myself. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER? I am looking forward to our future together! You will love getting to know me, and I will be your best friend forever! ** ADOPTION FEE IS $400** If you are interested in adopting Basil, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? My name is Miso. ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am a big, beautiful lady. HOW OLD ARE YOU? We think I was born in mid-2023. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a Great Dane! HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I am a slim 100 pounds of graceful beauty. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am tall (obviously), lean, and gorgeous, with a white coat with black spots! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I enjoy my kibble, but oh boy, hot dogs are my absolute favorite treat! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am shy at first and a little nervous in new environments, but once I warm up, I am the coziest girl. I love to press up against my people, and love to meet new people when we go for walks. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I think the perfect day is any day spent with my people. The MOST perfect day would include a walk, lounging around in the yard, soaking up the sinand snacking on hot dogs (while practicing my manners). WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? My favorite toys all have squeakers! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I know how to sit and shake. I am working on lay down, leave it, and going into my crate on my own. WHAT SCARES YOU? New environments make me nervous, but being with friends or family calms my nerves. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I love to say hello to well behaved children on my walks, but I have not spent much time with them. Given the fact that I’m a big girl, it is probably best for me to be around older children rather than the littles. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have never met a cat, so I am really not sure. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I like other dogs once I have the chance to get to know them. Set me up for success with slow introductions, and I can make friends. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be pressed against my humans for some pets or curled up on my bed with a dog friend. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I’m a healthy young lady! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and dad, my foster sister, and my friend, Basil. Basil and I were found together as strays. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I spend my alone time in my crate. I don’t love it, but I will go in on my own for a hot dog! WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? During the day, I love to nap on my bed. At night or when my foster parents leave the house, I sleep in my crate. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I am quickly learning how! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I get nervous when left alone in my crate, but I usually settle down in a few minutes. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? You betcha! Just show me where you want me to go and I’m on it! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I’ve never been around enough water to swim. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love being cozy with my humans, and laying out in the backyard. Oh, and did I mention that I also love hot dogs? IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER? I have so much love to give! I just know that my forever family is out there and that we will have the best time hanging out together. Maybe you want to be my forever human? **MISO’S ADOPTION FEE IS $400** If you are interested in adopting Miso, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
Old Soul, Happy HeartMeet Harry—a distinguished senior gentleman who`s reached the wonderful stage of life where he knows exactly what he likes...and isn`t afraid to ask for it.And what does Harry like? Booty scratches. Lots of them.Sure, he`ll happily greet you with kisses, but don`t be fooled—that`s just the opening act. Before long, he`ll expertly back that adorable rump right up to you, convinced your hands have a very important job to do. He`ll lean against the wall, sit beside you (or occasionally on you), and politely—but persistently—request that the scratching continue indefinitely.Harry is an easy walker, appears to be potty trained, and takes treats with gentlemanly manners. He`ll let you know when someone stops by, then likely return to his regularly scheduled booty-rub appointment.Senior dogs have a wonderful honesty about them. Harry isn`t interested in playing hard to get or pretending he wants something else. He`s spent enough years figuring life out to know exactly what makes him happy: kind people, leisurely walks, tasty treats, and endless scratches in all the right places. If you`re looking for a loyal best friend with a wise soul, a sweet heart, and a hilarious obsession with booty rubs, Harry is ready to meet you. This handsome gent has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Story
To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2025/8/7/holly Meet Holly, a 3.5 year old spayed Great Dane mix, 60lbs and vaccinated! Holly was adopted as a puppy through Hearts for Paws but now in need of a new forever (ever) home. Her family cites resource guarding against other dogs as the reason for rehoming. Please note, HFP contracts require future adopters work with force-free trainers should issues arise; if an adoption does not work out, HFP asks adopters to hold on to their animals until proper placement with a suitable forever home can be found. The following notes are from her original adopters. Hearts for Paws has no doubt that Holly will make a fantastic companion to the right home! Where did you get this dog?: Hearts for Paws Rescue How long have you owned this dog?: 3 plus years, since she was 2-3 months old Why is the dog being given up? She has had some issues with our other dog at times but now has bitten another dog. She drew blood on the other dog, and it is related to jealousy and/or random. We believe will need to be the only dog in her future home. She has always been good with the kids. She loves her people and loves to be touching them. She is good left in an indoor kennel with access to the outdoor dog run and is well potty trained. She knows many commands including place, sit, down, etc. Due to the possessiveness of toys and people/ aggressiveness towards other dogs, she will need to be the only dog in the home moving forward. Check the words that best describe your dog.: SMART, AFFECTIONATE, POSSESIVE, FRIENDLY, QUIET, PLAYFUL Is your dog housebroken?: Yes Reason for rehoming: Resource guarding against the second dog added later in our home. Gets jealous of other dogs attention and toys Does the dog get along with:: Dog-Selective Please elaborate on your dogs interactions with other dogs in detail: She is generally good with other dogs but has become more possessive recently which has lead to aggressiveness Does the dog like children?: Yes Are there children in the home?: Yes What are their ages?: 9 and 7 Any specific feeding instructions you would care to share with your dogs new owner?: 1.5 cups 2x/day. We use a puzzle feeder to slow her down. She must be kept away from other dogs/their food while eating Where does the dog sleep?: Couch/dog bed Is the dog allowed on your furniture?: Yes Is the dog crate trained?: Yes How does the dog react to being left alone?: She does great with this, typically sleeps while we are gone Please list any particular fears your dog has.: Getting her nails trimmed, water she cannot touch the bottom Training: Knows place, sit, (lay) down, come, high five Does the dog have any known health problems?: No Does the dog like riding in the car?: Yes What is the dog's favorite : Anything really loves to destroy tennis balls Walks alongside my bike To be touching her humans Are there any things you think a new owner needs to know?: Needs to be the only dog in the home. Please describe a typical day for your dog: Wake around 7am, feed immediately, eat dinner st 6pm. I work from home so she is rarely left alone but does fine when she is left alone. Likes camping, walks, and running alongside my bike Please provide a summary of the “ideal” home for your dog: Family with no other dogs who can walk her relatively short distances daily (she tires quickly if going fast), allowed on furniture so she can sit with her people. We dont allow her on our bed but the kids enjoy her on theirs $100 rehoming fee — Located in Roseville CA Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
