Story
Eve is a 7-year-old Great Dane/Pointer mix whose life changed in the blink of an eye. For years, she lived in a nursing home where she brightened the days of residents and staff alike, offering quiet companionship and comfort to everyone she met. When the facility changed ownership, Eve was suddenly no longer allowed to stay. Thankfully, a kind employee stepped in and brought her home so she wouldn’t be left without a place to go. But due to housing restrictions, they weren’t able to keep her permanently. And so, through no fault of her own, Eve has found herself searching for a new place to call home. Because her world was turned upside down so suddenly, Eve can seem a little aloof or subdued when she first meets new people. She just needs a little time to decide that it’s safe to trust again. Once she does, though, her personality begins to shine. She becomes more expressive, joyful, and affectionate with the people she loves. The fastest way to Eve’s heart is definitely through food—she does the absolute cutest little tippy-taps when she knows a treat is coming! Eve is happiest in a cozy, quiet environment, where she can relax and feel secure. Her favorite place is curled up at her person’s feet, soaking up gentle pets. She’s a big fan of belly rubs and head scratches, and once she’s comfortable, she’ll happily lean in for more. She does well with other dogs and is mostly indifferent to them, content to coexist peacefully as long as her boundaries are respected. Eve also does well with cats and older kids who understand how to give her space and be gentle. Eve is fully potty-trained and crate-trained, and she has lovely house manners (she even knows basic commands). After everything she’s been through, Eve isn’t asking for much—just a quiet, loving home where she can spend her days feeling safe, cherished, and certain that she truly belongs. If you have a soft spot for sweet senior dogs and a peaceful home to share, Eve would love nothing more than to curl up at your feet and be your loyal companion for the rest of her days.

Story
Meet our friend Luna! She is a Great Dane mix weighing in at about 130 lbs of pure love. Unlike the super sleek and leggy Danes you may be picturing, Luna is a more solid — a sturdy, (but beautiful) girl with an even bigger heart to match her size! We love her personality of `hey guys!` on a daily basis. Right now, Luna is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where she can comfortably recover from a recent leg surgery. She needed surgical intervention to help provide care for what is the human equivalent of ACL. CVHS will continue to cover her food, supplies, and medical care during this recovery period.Things to know about this girl`s personality: Luna absolutely loves being outside — soaking up the fresh air, lounging in the yard, and taking in the world around her. At the same time, she’s just as happy curling up in a cozy indoor spot for a long nap. She’ll make a wonderful indoor/outdoor companion for someone who appreciates a dog that enjoys both adventure and relaxation! Luna has lived successfully with other dogs in the past, but activity and play will need to be limited for now while she heals. She unfortunately is not good with cats, so no feline friends for Luna please. She has done well around children, but because she is a very large dog, thoughtful supervision and sturdy kiddos are recommended! What now?As she continues healing from surgery, Luna needs a calm, structured home environment with limited activity and controlled movement (no free rein zoomies just yet!)Someone committed to helping her safely recover while the rescue supports her medical needs.Luna walks well on leash and has an overall enjoyable and easygoing personality. What she truly needs most right now is a loving, patient home where she can rest, heal, and feel secure while awaiting final adoption. If you have room in your home — and your heart — for a gentle giant who just needs a soft landing spot to recover, Luna may be your perfect match!
