I'm a big, happy guy who loves to be around people. I've got a sweet nature and an easygoing personality, and I'm always ready to share my joy with everyone I meet. Life is better with a friend, and I'd love to be yours! I probably won't make a good farm dog as I have a prey drive. I'm am located at the ARP. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

GD Mix Gerry came to us from a kill shelter in Kentucky where he ended up by no fault of his own. This is a nice, friendly boy who is good with people & other dogs. He is very sweet & happy but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His approx. birth date is 07/04/24 and he currently weighs 16.8#.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. His adoption donation is $400 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. Shedinja came to us from a kill shelter in Arkansas where she ended up by no fault of her own. This girl is sweet, but reserved. She is good with other dogs and kids and tested fine with cats. Her approx. birth date is 05/05/15 and she weighs 94# full grown. This girl was adopted out for 6 years and recently returned when her adopted became too ill to care for her. She has been vet. checked, spayed,  micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. She was also heart worm negative.Her adoption donation is $100 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card.
