Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Brutus is a 12-year-old senior gentleman who has recently joined rescue and is settling into his foster home after a major life change. His beloved owner sadly passed away, which landed Brutus at the impound through no fault of his own. Despite everything he’s been through, Brutus remains a loving, resilient boy with so much affection left to give. Though he’s a senior, Brutus still has some zest for life and a little pep in his step. He absolutely adores being around his people and soaking up attention. Whether it’s curling up beside you on the couch or gently plopping his head in your lap, Brutus is happiest when he’s close and snuggling. Brutus enjoys sniffing around the yard and going for leisurely walks, taking in the world at his own pace. Brutus can be trusted to free roam the house. While he will go into a kennel if needed, he much prefers having the freedom to move between his favorite spots, usually the couch and a cozy dog bed. He does well with other dogs, cats, and children. While he’s not one for rowdy play, Brutus enjoys their company and fits in easily with a loving household. Incredibly affectionate and fully potty trained, Brutus is an easy, low-maintenance addition to any home. All he wants is a soft place to rest, plenty of pets, and a family to share his golden years with. If you’re looking for a calm, loving senior who will happily keep you company and still surprise you with a little pep from time to time, Brutus may be your perfect match and is so ready to be someone’s best friend.  Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Brutus is from a local impound.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Story
Meet Queen – A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold Queen is a stunning Great Dane who’s ready to leave her past behind and start her happily-ever-after! This sweetheart had a rough start to life as a stray — she came to us malnourished, emaciated, and battling demodex mange. But with time, love, and care, Queen has blossomed into a healthy, radiant girl with a gentle spirit. She’s friendly and affectionate, great with kids, and gets along with other dogs. Queen even passed her cat test with flying colors! Despite all she’s been through, she remains calm, sweet, and endlessly forgiving — the very definition of resilience. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will reward your kindness tenfold, Queen is ready to be your loyal best friend. After all she’s overcome, this amazing girl truly deserves her royal treatment in a forever home.

Story
Meet Clifford! Clifford is our oversized sweetheart-a Great Dane mix who's still growing into his big body. He's a goofy, clumsy, and playful boy who loves to run, flop around, and make everyone laugh. Clifford knows how to sit, walks well on leash, and is very motivated by food and treats. He's a snuggly pup who bonds closely with his people and would make a great protector. Clifford loves everyone he meets! He is dog selective but once he finds the perfect match, he adores them! A loving, patient family who enjoys big, silly cuddle bugs will adore this gentle giant!
