Story
Meet Chloe Sunshine Location: Boerne, TXDOB: 06/06/2018Chloe Sunshine is a beautiful Great Dane mix whose journey is a true testament to resilience, healing, and the power of love. She came into rescue after surviving on her own in a remote area of Texas, where she had to be humanely trapped just to receive help. Before that, she endured distemper, which left her with a small facial and mouth tic that doesn’t bother her one bit. When Chloe was rescued, she was malnourished, exhausted, and pregnant. Tragically, her puppies did not survive, and she required emergency surgery to save her life. During her recovery, she was spayed and had several damaged teeth removed—likely worn down from trying to escape confinement. With proper care, nourishment, and rest, Chloe slowly began her journey toward healing. When she first entered foster care, Chloe was completely shut down and terrified of people. Given a quiet, safe space and the freedom to move at her own pace, she began to take small, brave steps forward. The presence of other dogs helped her tremendously, showing her that she was safe and allowing her to learn how to trust again.Today, Chloe Sunshine is a completely different dog. She has blossomed into a joyful, curious, and playful girl who is learning to embrace life. She absolutely thrives with other dogs—playing, wrestling, and taking comfort in their companionship—so a home with a confident canine friend would be ideal for her.Chloe loves her toys and will happily toss them in the air to entertain herself. Mealtime and park time are her favorite parts of the day, and her excitement is contagious. She enjoys chewing on bones, sunbathing in the yard, using the doggy door, and is always ready for a car ride adventure. She shows affection in the sweetest ways—leaning in for chest and neck scratches, offering little bows, and greeting her people with an adorable happy dance that perfectly matches her name.Chloe has shown she can adapt to new environments and continue building trust, but she will thrive in a patient, gentle home that understands her past and is committed to continuing her journey. She deserves a family who will celebrate her progress, respect her pace, and give her the love and security she has always needed. After everything she’s been through, Chloe Sunshine is no longer just surviving—she’s truly living. Now, she’s ready to share that sunshine with a family of her own.=========================To apply to adopt Chloe Sunshine, please fill out the application form:https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match.Explore more adoptable dogs at saverockythegreatdane.org/adoptFor more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Etters, PADOB: 07/19/2019Bubba is a gentle, sensitive Great Dane who is still learning that people can be kind. When he first arrived, he was timid and cautious, clearly carrying the weight of a rough past. Over time, he has started to show his sweet and goofy sides, especially when he’s with other dogs. Bubba feels most comfortable when he has canine friends around—he is respectful and playful with dogs of all ages and sizes, and he truly blossoms when he has a companion by his side.Outdoors is his happy place. He loves to roam the yard, run with the other dogs, or quietly watch the world from behind a shed or in his dog house. Indoors is harder for him, but he finds comfort in his kennel and sleeps peacefully through the night. Each morning feels like a fresh start, and with patience, you’ll see him warm up again as the day goes on. Bubba has even begun to find his voice—sometimes howling when left outside alone at night or “talking” at the back door when he wants some company.Despite his shyness, Bubba has the most tender personality. He leans into back scratches, runs and plays with a horse-like gait, and surprises his foster family with little glimpses of silliness that will make you smile. He startles easily with loud noises or sudden movements, and he isn’t a fan of car rides, but he tolerates them when needed. He’s still learning to trust people and may never be a dog who cuddles on the couch, but his gentle spirit and quiet presence are deeply endearing.Bubba is crate-trained, learning leash skills, and doing well with the routine at his foster home. He hasn’t shown much interest in chickens and may be fine with cats, though he hasn’t lived with them. He would do best in a calm home with no small children, a securely fenced yard, and another friendly dog to help him feel safe. His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and willing to let him progress at his own pace.If you’re looking for a dog who will touch your heart with his resilience, reward your kindness with trust, and bring gentle joy to your days, Bubba is waiting for you.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Hamlet, NCDOB: 06/07/2021Meet Broley, a handsome white Great Dane with a goofy streak and a gentle, thoughtful soul. At his core, he’s a big clown who loves nothing more than simply being near his person. Once he knows he can trust you, his sweet, easygoing personality shines through, and he’ll happily spend his days lounging, following you around the house, or curling up for long naps at your side.Broley has definite couch-potato tendencies and thinks a comfy spot and a calm home are just about perfect. He’s a champion napper, an enthusiastic snuggler, and he’ll gladly share the couch—especially if you got there first or have a treat to sweeten the deal. Out in the yard, he’s content with a bit of exploring and light play, but he doesn’t need high-energy adventures to be happy. A fenced yard where he can relax and move at his own pace suits him well. He’s still learning that new people can be safe and kind, so he may be wary at first and sometimes reacts when faced with unfamiliar adults. But with patient, gentle handling, he’s making steady progress. He’s smart, observant, and slowly discovering how to play, and he appreciates someone who will go at his pace and show him the world doesn’t have to be scary.Broley is fully housetrained and walks nicely on a leash. He does best having his own room instead of a crate, where he can stretch out and feel secure. He’s muzzle trained, too, which makes vet visits and new situations easier for him. He recently completed heartworm treatment, and his future adopter should follow up with their vet to confirm his status. He hasn’t yet been introduced to other dogs, cats, or children in his foster home, so a careful, structured introduction plan would be needed if those are part of his future family. He does have a mischievous side—Broley is a proud countersurfer and has a particular fondness for apples, mangos, and bread. With consistency and supervision, he’s learning the rules, but his new family should expect a bit of creativity and persistence from this smart guy.Broley’s ideal home is quiet, patient, and understanding. He’ll thrive with someone who appreciates the Dane “lean,” doesn’t mind a little dog hair, and is willing to give him the time he needs to build trust. A fenced yard would give him a safe space to relax, and a home with kind adults who come around regularly would help him continue his progress with meeting new people. With the right family, Broley will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who brings equal parts silliness and sweetness to every day.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
Meet WillaLocation; Springdale, ARDOB: 04/02/2023Willa is a young, playful girl with a BIG heart and an even bigger love for her people. She’s very puppy-like and absolutely thrives on attention and companionship — a true Velcro dog who wants to be wherever her humans are. This sweet girl loves to run, play, and be part of the action. She has a higher energy level and will do best with an active family who can give her multiple walks, playtime, and mental stimulation to keep her happy and out of trouble.Willa is fully housetrained and rides great in the car. She’s currently working on her leash manners and is doing really well — she’s attentive, doesn’t pull, and is eager to learn. Like many young dogs, she’s still figuring out boundaries. Shoes are her favorite “toy” if left out, and she does like to chew when unsupervised, so she needs to be crated when home alone. She also has some separation anxiety, but she’s made huge progress in a sturdy crate setup and continues to improve every day.She currently lives with two large dogs (a Rottweiler and a Lab mix), and after slow introductions, she’s now happily playing with both of them. She may enjoy having another confident dog in the home to help continue building her confidence.Willa has been around children as well. She does well with a 5-year-old, but younger toddlers can make her a little nervous because of their quick movements. She’s curious and interested, just still learning. With new adults, Willa can be a bit reserved at first, but once she warms up, she becomes incredibly loving and loyal. She’s only been in foster care for a few weeks and is already making wonderful progress and showing more of her personality every day.Willa is looking for a patient, active home that understands young dogs need guidance, structure, and consistency. In return, you’ll get a fun, affectionate companion who just wants to love and be loved. If you’re looking for a sweet shadow to join your adventures, Willa may be your perfect match All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are now in one place: https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Conroe, TXDOB: 12/16/2020Ozzy is a gentle, easygoing soul with the calm presence of an old friend. He’s quiet, observant, and incredibly relaxed—so much so that he hasn’t barked once since coming into foster care. Routine is his comfort zone, and consistency helps him feel safe and settled. Once Ozzy knows what to expect, he melts right into the rhythm of the home and becomes a steady, peaceful companion. His energy level is firmly couch-potato status. Ozzy prefers a cozy day indoors over busy outings, and low activity suits him perfectly. He’s not one to demand entertainment—he’s happiest lounging nearby, covered up with his beloved tortilla blanket, quietly soaking in the world around him. A fenced yard is plenty for his needs, and walks are still a work in progress as he continues to build confidence.Ozzy is affectionate in a gentle, understated way. He doesn’t mind cuddling with kids or adults and blends seamlessly into family life, offering just the right amount of love without being overwhelming. He absolutely loves car rides and is always happy to tag along. When it comes to treats, chicken feet and pumpkin are his favorites, and food is a great motivator for him. He can be a little stubborn—if Ozzy doesn’t want to move, he’ll politely but firmly stand his ground—but it’s more endearing than challenging. He is fully house trained, does well in a crate, rides calmly in the car, and is muzzle trained. Leash manners are hit-or-miss, and he may refuse to walk if he’s feeling unsure. Ozzy can be fearful of thunderstorms, rain, high winds, fireworks, loud noises, nighttime, and new environments. During bad weather, he needs reassurance and someone willing to cuddle him until he feels safe again.Ozzy has done well meeting other dogs and was friendly and kind when introduced to a large dog. He currently lives with a cat and has occasionally lunged toward them but has never shown aggression, and both largely coexist without issue. He has been around many children of all ages at once, including toddlers and babies. While he has tolerated climbing, pulling, and cuddling with remarkable patience, he has given a single growl as a warning when physically hurt—never escalating beyond that. He has also remained calm and unbothered by adult strangers entering the home, even during the middle of the night.Medically, Ozzy has some growths on his elbows, is undergoing heartworm treatment, takes joint supplements, has a limp in his front leg, is still underweight, and is missing his top front row of teeth. He has spent much of his foster time healing, and there are likely many joys and activities he has yet to discover once he’s feeling his best.Ozzy’s ideal home would be calm and loving, preferably with adults or one to two children, though he can adapt to busier households. He thrives when he’s part of daily life and would do best with someone who is home often. A low-energy household without stairs, with good lighting and a fully gated yard, would suit him well—he can be curious about slipping under fences. Above all, Ozzy needs a home that values routine, patience, and companionship, and someone who will cherish his quiet, steady presence. He is an old soul ready to be deeply loved.=========================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form!https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
