Story
Hello, my name is Bindi! I am a 6 year old female Great Dane that weighs approx. 135lbs. I was surrender to RAC due to my family no longer being able to care for me. I am a very calm girl that would love to find a peaceful FURever home to spend my golden years with. I am house broken, and crate trained. I walk well on leash. I would make a perfect companion for a single person or a mature family. I am suggested with children over the age of 13 that understand my age and energy level. I would prefer to live with dogs around my size and not too wild. If you have other dogs, a meet and greet is suggested to make sure we get along. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, up to date on my basic yearly vaccines, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in making me a part of your family, please complete an adoption application located here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ . RAC staff will be in touch on the next steps.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. April 26, 2024, 3:46 am

Story
LOCATION: Plainwell, Michigan DOB: 03/16/2016 (Estimate)Hi all! My name is Louie. I am a Great Dane mix and a handsome, distinguished gentleman as you can see from my tuxedo coat. All I’m missing is a bowtie. I am wonderful with all humans (kids of all ages included), if I do say so myself. My foster momma says I am a “good family dog”. I do fine with other dogs (although I am not a fan of the pesky small ones), but I would be lying if I said I did not want to be the center of attention in my home. I’d prefer to be king of my domain and not have to share any of the love and cuddles from my humans. (No cats for me either, please!). I do have a high prey drive so seriously, no cats and no small dogs.As the distinguished gentleman that I am, I behave perfectly in my crate or I can be left out of a crate when unsupervised. I can walk like a champ on the leash. I know basic obedience and I am housetrained. An important note: I can easily clear a 6-foot fence. Another important note: I LOVE treats!!! Dog biscuits are the best!So anyway, if you are looking for that perfect, devoted gentleman to shower with unconditional love, please look no further – I am the guy for you!========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Brownsburg, IndianaDOB: 03/29/18 (estimate)Stormy is a snuggly, loving, and amazing dog! She loves her people so much! She loves to splash in the water, and she loves her doggy pool! She is the best cuddler, and now that she is more comfortable at home she has become quite the couch potato. She loves to be in a bed or on the couch, but she definitely prefers to be in bed! She will need lots of time and patience to adjust to her new home and new people (she warms up more quickly to women), but once she gains your trust, she'll be inseparable! Stormy will do well with older children (12 years and older) who will respect her need for space and patience as she adjusts. She does need time to warm up to strangers, especially men, but comes around quickly after learning that they aren't going to hurt her. Stormy loves to go on walks even if it is cold outside. She has done well with her leash and muzzle training. Due to her very tough past, she does have separation anxiety, and is protective over her resources - especially food. She will need a strong, patient owner who will continue to work with her. She does fantastic in the car, and she loves to go get pup cups. She also loves to do enrichment activities that help her with her anxiety such as her lick mat and topple. She is a lap dog who always wants to cuddle and give you lots of kisses. She loves to play with her foster family’s other dogs outside, but she takes a while to warm up to other animals inside. She would do best in a home without cats, and her future family should be aware that she is dog selective and will need careful introductions (again, she struggles more indoors). Because of her sad history of being attacked by other dogs, she can be reactive to other animals and is not a dog park dog. Stormy would be best in a home with larger dogs only, even better if they are bigger than her and enjoy playtime as much as she does! She does not like to go outside very often and she is terrified of being left outside, so her foster family always go outside with her for comfort. She especially has trouble going outside when it is hot. Quite possibly, she had lived her life outdoors in Texas and was not able to escape the heat, so now the outdoors and heat give her pause, but her nice and cool doggie pool definitely makes that better and a lot more fun for her. Stormy is learning how to play with toys and is getting better at playing catch outside. She loves to explore and do her zoomies! She is a great listener and knows basic commands (sit, stay, come, no). She is also fully housebroken. She is still learning manners, but she is the happiest and most loving girl! She enjoys her calming chews, and she is great at taking her medication. She can be out in the house by herself as she is not destructive at all (unless she has access to food or trash).Although she had a rough past, she is the sweetest and happiest girl (especially when she wakes up in the morning)! She deserves to be soooo spoiled! If you are that special person that is willing to put in the time and patience, you will get so much more in return from Stormy!========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Pensacola, FloridaDOB: 01/05/2018 (Estimate)Hi! My name is Luna Blu. Isn’t that the prettiest name you’ve ever heard? It just rolls right off the tongue. Luuuuna Bluuuuu. If you don’t read another single sentence here, I want you to leave knowing two things about me: 1) I have a Master’s Degree in snuggling. 2.) I have my Doctorate in cuddling. I. Am. A. Genius. And I really hope you want a big, blue, soft ball of velvety fur following you around, because that is what you will get with me. Velcro to the max. Plan on me going where you go. Being affectionate and invading your privacy aren’t my only skills, though. I know some basic obedience and am a very fast learner. I ask to go out to go potty, and I sleep well in my crate at night. One little tip: I do love being with my people A LOT and so I get nervous when I’m home by myself. My mouth gets all weirded out and I start “tasting” things I have no business tasting. Everyone is much happier when I go in my crate if I am home by myself. My foster mom says I'm a "dream" in the car. I love to ride shotgun and am excellent at navigating. I love squeaky toys, plushies, and playing fetch. My foster mom says I’m obsessed with stuffies. I like to carry at least one in my mouth at all times. We may need to call the Guinness Book of World Records because my record is holding 4 at one time, not including the tennis ball that I picked up along the way. It is truly an impressive feat. I am a sweet girl to my humans and love kiddos, even the smallest ones, but I do struggle with seeing and/or meeting other dogs whether I am inside looking out the window or out on a walk on my leash. A home off the beaten path where dogs wouldn’t be walking by would be ideal. Sort of like if I can’t see them, then I don’t know they are there and then I’m a happy camper. And within my own home, I am super-duper friendly with large dogs once we meet properly but I don’t think I would like being in a home with multiple dogs. That is just too overwhelming. And no cats or other small pets. Something that I’m kinda proud of is that I can adapt quickly to changing environments and I can match my own energy level to the situation around me. You want to play? Me, too! You aren’t feeling good and need to rest? Got it. We can simply lay together until you are feeling better. If you’ve read this far then I feel like I’ve kept your interest. And that’s a great first step! But we need to see if we are a good fit TOGETHER. So the ball is in your court now. I’m ready to find my forever home. Are you ready for me?========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Piedmont, OklahomaDOB: 04/26/2019 (Estimate)Sweet Ella is a beauty and a love! This girl loves to be the Queen of the Castle and is a Velcro Dane who becomes attached to her person. She is a dominant girl that wants to be in charge. She is a little protective over her people. And she has a lot of energy. She reacts very strongly to people running or aggressive behavior, even on TV shows. It would not be unusual to see her jumping up, barking and pacing if something high-energy is on the TV. Her foster is working hard with her on this behavior. After she's done running around though, this girl wants to cuddle.Being an alpha female, she needs very slow introductions to other dogs who are submissive and a home with no small dogs would be ideal as she can be overpowering and aggressive towards them. She also resource guards her food and should be fed separately, although she doesn’t mind her human moving or touching her food while she’s eating. And the cat by her food does not seem to be an issue. She needs slow introductions with other people. It takes her a bit to trust, but once she does she is a lovebug. Ella will do best in a home with no children. She has done well with the cats in the foster home; really isn't interested in them.Ella is very active. She loves stuffed toys that have a squeaker. Likes strong chew bones too! And treats are a plus as well. If given the opportunity, she does enjoy digging in the yard even if her family says otherwise. Ella does okay on leash but needs some work, is crate trained, knows some basic obedience, rides great in the car, and is a superb watchdog. She’ll let you know if she hears a car in the driveway - especially UPS or FedEx - she's not fond of them. Ella is a very affectionate dog and loves to give kisses and hugs. She will frequently come and just lay her head in an arm or a lap. She loves getting love but will occasionally growl if the other dog is close. Her foster is working with her on this issue. If you are looking for an affectionate dog that will stay by your side giving loves and keeping you safe, Ella won’t disappoint! ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Minden, LouisianaDOB: 06/15/2020 (Estimate)Sweet, sweet Willy. He is average on energy, super submissive, and learning to love affection. His foster momma calls him a “baby doll” and a “special boy”.Willy is so silly! He is a hoarder and will actively collect toys, towels, shoes, etc, into a pile if you let him. And crinkly toys? In Willy’s world-crinkle toys are magnificent!Wilson is more comfortable with women but now and again his “willies” get the best of him. But now instead of running and hiding in his crate when people come over, he enjoys laying on the floor in front of his foster momma and being part of the party. He is ok with older respectful children and he has been around toddlers and done great. He ignores the cats in his foster home and LOVES to play with the other pups in his home. When unsupervised, he is crated because of his fantastic hoarding tendencies and his dumpster diving capabilities. He does good on a leash and is house trained. He isn't a huge fan of the car, although he loads wonderfully! This goofy boy gives his momma the "Willie wiggles" in the morning, and when she returns from running errands. He loves sweet talking and butt scratches. Wilson is ready for that new family to love him. He wants to share his “wiggles” with you!!!========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
