Meet Gertrude - our gentle brindle miracle. Gertrude, lovingly called Gertie, is a breathtakingly beautiful Great Dane with a heart every bit as big as she is. She came to us from a heartbreaking local cruelty and neglect case, where she was one of only two survivors. Despite everything she’s been through, Gertie has held onto her sweet, soulful nature, and she’s so ready to finally know safety, love, and comfort. Gertie is gentle, affectionate, and truly cherishes calm companionship…but don’t let her softness fool you, she absolutely lives for a joyful romp in the snow! Watching her kick up powder with those long legs is guaranteed to make you smile. This girl has survived so much, and she deserves a family willing to help her continue healing. Gertie can be a bit overwhelmed by very active or overly forward dogs, so while she previously lived with other animals, she’ll need the right match to feel safe and thrive. Slow introductions and respectful canine friends are key. We’re also recommending a home with older children, simply to give her the quiet, understanding environment she needs to settle in and build confidence. If you’ve been searching for a companion who is gentle, resilient, and endlessly loving, Gertrude may be the one. She’s ready for a soft place to land, and a family who believes she deserves the world. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Meet Zeus, our lovable Great Dane who is nearly 2 years old and still has that playful spirit of a big puppy! This goofy giant doesn’t quite realize just how big he is! Weighing around 130 pounds, Zeus can sometimes be a bit clumsy, knocking over anything in his path (especially when he really wants to say hello!) Zeus is also quite vocal; he loves to express himself with his happy barks or chatty howls or whining complaints, especially when he’s excited, wants your attention , has to do something he doesn’t want to (this is when the complaints start), or is playing with other dogs! His silly personality and expressive nature will keep you entertained and ensure you never have a dull moment. Zeus is good with cats as long as you’re ok having to frequently remind him that cats really don’t want to play with puppies that are 12x their size! He is good with other dogs as long as the other dog is ok with Zeus’s rough and tumble play style and that he is VERY vocal when he plays Zeus is a little much for small kids and small kids are a bit much for Zeus, he does ok with older kids, >12yo up.
