Meet Daisy Daisy is a stunning Great Dane with an even bigger heart. She came to us from a heartbreaking local cruelty and neglect case, where she was one of only two survivors. Despite her rough start, Daisy is learning that the world can be kind and is blossoming more every day. She is still gaining confidence and can be timid at first, so slow, patient introductions to new people and other dogs are important. Currently in her adorable, awkward “tween” stage, Daisy has all the joyful puppy energy you’d expect from a young Dane. She gets the zoomies when the mood strikes, loves her toys (especially her teddy bear, tug toy… and unfortunately, socks), and then happily settles in for cuddle time. If you sit down, Daisy will do her best to climb into your lap, stretching out and melting into you for ear rubs—she truly believes she’s a lap dog, even if she’s the world’s largest one. Daisy has already survived more than most dogs ever should. Now she’s ready for a loving, patient home that will help her continue to grow into the confident, gentle giant she’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a tender heart and lots of love to give, Daisy may just be your perfect match. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Meet the dog who puts the giant in gentle giant; Brody!Brody arrived at FVHA as a stray.This big boy is 130 lbs of pure love and goofy energy! Brody enjoys a good game of fetch and a long walk followed up by relaxing on a comfy bed or couch with his humans. We were able to make contact with his previous owners and they let us know that Brody was primarily an outdoor dog. He is learning how comfortable and nice indoor life can be, but he would benefit from a home with ample space and time to continue teaching him how to be an indoor dog.Brody has met other dogs here at the shelter and seems to enjoy canine companionship! He might be a bit too much for young kids and cats, but our adoption staff is happy to advise you on slow introductions to any family members!Brody had cherry eye surgery which he is healing nicely from! Meet Missy! Missy is a 4 year old Great Dane who is looking for a special forever home. Missy was originally pulled from a less-than-ideal breeding kennel situation in another jurisdiction, and was in foster care with a rescue group while she underwent treatment for Heartworm. She has since been cleared of Heartworm and is healthy & ready for a permanent home! (She came to us a bit underweight, but her vet check was good and she simply needed more groceries) Missy is incredibly sweet with people and loves to lean up against your legs when she's standing next to you. She rides well in the car and is very well-mannered and sweet! While Missy is not reactive in the shelter setting, unfortunately she cannot live with other pets and will need to be your one and only princess. She is potty trained and knows some basic commands. Missy is currently on eye drops for some crusty/dry eyes, an may need future treatment if the problem persists, so her adopters should be comfortable following up with their vet for any future medical needs she may have. She may have Entropion, which could require surgery, but her veterinary team wanted to recheck that after she puts on more weight. *PLEASE do research on this breed if you are not already familiar, especially with the cost of caring for/feeding these babies. They do tend to have a shorter lifespan than some of their smaller k9 relatives, but are one of the most loyal breeds out there! She is already settling in so nicely and we don't think it will take her long to settle into your home!
