Story
Meet Desi 🐾 Desi is a 1½-year-old Great Pyrenees mix… although we aren’t quite sure what else he could be mixed with (if anything), because everything about him screams Pyrenees! From the big personality to the big opinions, Desi is 100% himself. ❤️ Desi is a professional alarm barker, expert ignorer, champion burper, and personal space enthusiast… who has no idea what personal space is. 😂 He will absolutely let you know when he wants to go outside, then celebrate with the best zoomies and pounces you’ve ever seen. This big fluffy guy loves his people and believes the best place to receive affection is on top of them. If you were looking for a giant lap dog, Desi may have already applied for the position. Desi’s story is one of resilience. He was spotted running loose with another dog who sadly was hit by a car. Trappers stepped in and worked their magic to safely bring him in. Desi spent time decompressing in a garage while learning that humans could be kind and trustworthy. From there, he moved into an amazing foster home that has continued to help him grow. He has his own special area on their back porch with air conditioning and the freedom to come and go as he chooses. While Desi is still unsure about certain rooms in the house, he is making progress every day. He is spending more time inside, exploring, relaxing, and enjoying being with his people. Desi loves other dogs, does great with cats, and so far has done well with farm animals — although he mostly thinks everything wants to play. He’s looking for a family who understands that trust takes time and will give him the patience, love, and freedom he needs to continue blossoming. His perfect home would have a secure yard where he can do his famous zoomies, patrol his kingdom, and enjoy the outdoors. A home that understands a Pyrenees heart — independent, loyal, silly, and full of love. Could Desi be your new best friend? 🐶 Apply at azdawgz.org ❤️

Story
This handsome guy is sweet, loves being pet, going for walks, hiking, and playing with other dogs. He is very timid at first since he has been abused. Looking for a patient family that will give him time to warm up and learn to trust. Good with dogs large and small. Likes lounging on the couch and wading in his pool when not busy playing. Needs a good 6 foot fence, as he will run away if scared. Give this guy a chance and call his foster mom to set up a meeting. 601-479-2601

Story
Nimbus is a Great Pyrenees puppy who has just begun his journey with Big Hearts for Big Breeds. This fluffy little guy is available for a foster-to-adopt home where he can continue growing, learning, and building confidence as he prepares for his forever family. Nimbus is good with other dogs and enjoys being around people, though he is still a bit shy as he adjusts to the world around him. Like many Great Pyrenees, he’s already found his voice and isn’t afraid to use it — a trait that will grow with him as a natural guardian of his home. With patience, socialization, and gentle guidance, Nimbus will continue to blossom into a confident, well-rounded companion. He will be neutered and receive all of his vaccinations through the rescue prior to final adoption, ensuring he gets the best possible start. Nimbus also has a brother, Cirrus, who is part of the Big Hearts for Big Breeds family, making this a very special litter. If you’re ready to help a shy, sweet puppy grow into an amazing Great Pyrenees, Nimbus may be the perfect addition to your home.

Story
Quartz is a five-year-old neutered male Great Pyrenees who has completed a professional board-and-train program with one of our trusted partner trainers. He has put in the work and is ready to find a forever home through Big Hearts for Big Breeds. Quartz absolutely loves kids and thrives being part of a family. He is affectionate, devoted, and happiest when he’s near his people. Like many Great Pyrenees, he forms strong bonds and takes his role as a loyal companion seriously. Quartz previously displayed some food aggression with other dogs, so he will require thoughtful management at mealtimes and will do best with experienced owners who can confidently handle structured feeding routines. He previously struggled with kennel anxiety, but through training and consistency, he has made significant progress and continues to build confidence. Quartz will do best in a home familiar with guardian breeds — one that can provide leadership, routine, and clear boundaries while also giving him the love and inclusion he craves. If you’re looking for a kid-loving Great Pyrenees who has invested in his training and is ready for a committed forever family, Quartz may be your perfect match.
