Story
Meet Suki!Suki arrived at the Sunshine Coast Branch through our Drive-For-Lives program from Northern BC. Suki was surrendered through no fault of her own, and is a true Livestock Guardian Dog! From Suki's behaviour and temperament, we believe she would be best suited to an adult only home, on a quiet acreage. Suki seems to be quite uncomfortable in indoor settings, and is pretty skittish around loud noises and fast movements. She is interested in people, and will slowely approach you to check you out, before offering you her big white paw in a silent request for love and affection. Suki loves nothing more than to sit outside in the sunshine with her person and just enjoy the peace and quiet. We are hoping to find Suki a home with another dog, as she completely blossoms into a confident, and happy girl when she's in the company of another canine friend! All in all, Suki is a very sweet, shy, gentle gal who's just looking for a nice quiet life away from the hustle and bustle. If you think you could offer this loving pup a home where she can become her happiest self.. Please apply online.🐾🌲Suki ID: 587370PLEASE NOTE: This dog is located on the Sunshine Coast and travel via BC Ferries is required to adopt. Appointments are preferred to adopt one of our animals. Story
Meet Tennessee, Texas and Montana! There 3 siblings just arrived to West Vancouver through our Drives for Lives transfer program. While they are new to us, we know it's not going to take very long for them to find their forever families. These 3 were part of an unexpected litter, and were surrendered to the SPCA in North Peace. These pups are cattle dog and Great Pyrenees mixes, so families should be prepared for LARGE and active dogs! We recommend looking into both breeds if you are not familiar with them. These pups would not be well suited to small apartment living, as they are both active working breeds. Texas, Montana and Tennessee are all friendly, social pups, but they can be a little shy when first meeting strangers. Future homes should be prepared to continue to grow their confidence with new and unknown things. These pups are certainly NOT going to be couch potatoes, and are very active! They would love a home that offers lots of fun things to do and exciting outdoor adventures. All three are currently learning to walk on a harness and leash, this is brand new to them! All 3 are very smart and eager to learn. Taking on a brand new puppy is a ton of work, make sure you and your family are feeling prepared by checking out our dog care guide: https://spca.bc.ca/faqs/dogs/ Want to take one of these beauties home? Please drop in to the West Vancouver SPCA during our adoption hours (12pm-3pm, closed only on Mondays) to meet one and fill out an application. OR fill out an application online! (*please note, due to a high volume of interest in puppies, applications in person will take priority) Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Red Brown Weight: 16.7 Age: 0yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
Introducing our lovable furry friend! This charming pup is a people-person through and through—ready to soak up all the pets and attention from anyone, including strangers! However, when it comes to little ones, sudden movements and loud noises can startle him a bit. If children are calm and gentle, he's happy to hang out. Although he's not a fan of being carried or lifted up, he's a big fan of canine companions, especially smaller or similar-sized dogs. He's a true protector, but only when needed—stepping up if other dogs are too rowdy or aggressive. Birds? Squirrels? They definitely catch his eye during walks, but with a bit of leash training, he's working on his focus. In terms of energy, he's got the perfect balance—loving outdoor adventures but a total zen master indoors. While he might tug a little on walks, once he settles, he's an excellent leash follower. Busy streets can be overwhelming, so quieter spots are more his style. No guarding resources from people, but he might issue a gentle growl if other dogs get too close. When it's time to travel, he prefers a cozy crate in the car—helping ease those nerves and avoiding any car sickness. One thing's for sure—he's a potty pro outdoors only! Basic commands like sit, stay, paw, and eye contact? Nailed it! And did we mention he's a sucker for ice cubes? If you're ready to welcome this gentle giant into your heart and home, reach out to our team today to make him a part of your family! Story
Who is this handsome guy you ask? Meet Six!Six is our current canine comedian here at the Centre with his silly antics and playful personality 🃏 But wait, there's more!Six is a guy who is always up for an adventure with his humans, playdates with other canines, and is happy to share his space with felines, too. What can we say, he's a well-rounded guy!Even though Six is a big fella... if he fits, or maybe doesn't 😆, he sits! Yup, Six loves a good couch cuddle, floor snuggle puddle, or a good nap at your feet while you're working.Six's enthusiasm is infectious and when Six gets excited you might find him happy hopping. His excitement builds up and this guy just can't keep it in any longer. Visualize a giant piece of popcorn popping, all vertical, and a less than graceful landing 🍿 It's quite impressive for a guy his size!Six is food motivated and eager to learn. He's currently working on his loose leash walking - he just wants to be a part of everything and well, we don't have long enough legs to always keep up! Ha. But again, with continued positive, gentle guidance Six will have this fine tuned in no time.If you're looking to add this gentle giant to your family, hit the link below 👇https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-powell-river/Six, neutered male, 1 year, Great Pyrenees/Lab X, ID#587129 Primary Color: White Weight: 50.6 Age: 1yrs 4mths 1wks

#ADOPTABLE <Bobby>💕💕💕 Vancouver BC Bobby is currently being fostered in Vancouver and is waiting for his forever home.PLEASE share the post to help this baby find his forever home. Thank you!! Here is his profile on our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SNDogRescueAdoptionSociety Meet super lovely baby ~Bobby!!🥰🥰🥰 - 7 months old /30-31kg / 66-68lbs as of April 2024 - Great Pyrenees - Great with other dogs, adults, strangers - Sweet Companion - Chipped - Vaccinations are UTD and will be Neutered before go to new home. - Potty trained: Yes - Crate trained: Yes - Kid friendly: Yes - Cat friendly: Unknown - Energy level: Medium - Drive: Unknown at this time - Adoption fee: $500 Bobby's previous owner was an international student from China. Because of personal reasons, they had to return to China and left Bobby in Canada. Our volunteers did not want Bobby to have to get sent to the SPCA, so they took Bobby in. Sadly, Bobby was supposed to go to a foster home but he was attacked by his dog foster sibling, luckily the injuries were not serious and Bobby is now fully healed. Bobby is now at a different foster home. Bobby is a very playful but obedient puppy. He is almost 6 months old and around 27kg. We estimate that he will be around 50~55kg fully grown. He is a Great Pyrenees therefore, he is very intelligent and sweet .Bobby is very friendly to everyone and every dog.. We suggest that Bobby’s future adoptive family take him to dog training classes. Since Bobby is still a curious puppy, he likes to learn commands and needs obedience training. Training classes will bring a lot to the adoptive family and Bobby. The benefits also make Bobby a better companion dog. Additionally, Bobby is a large breed dog, meaning he will require lots of exercise and space. The ideal family for Bobby would have a backyard where Bobby can have space to relax. They should also ensure that Bobby gets enough exercise every day and is happy. Even though Bobby is only 5 months old, he has already learned some basic obedience, he is also doing well on leashed walks. He still likes to pull sometimes, so proper training is of the utmost importance as Bobby keeps growing. Bobby loves people and has the bad habit of jumping on people when he is excited, but we believe with some effort put in by Bobby's future owners, he will quickly learn how to be a perfectly well behaved dog. Bobby is not yet neutered, but once he has found his adoptive family, we will schedule to have this done before he moves to his new home. If you love big dogs and can put in the time and effort it takes to raise a well-behaved big dog, Bobby will definitely be a ray of sunshine in your daily life. We are looking forward to receiving your application forms. Our volunteers will get in touch with you ASAP to schedule a meet and greet with Bobby. @@Application form@@ https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UAHI2AjBnc8jrXvEgezFAmCmMQkpDkxTA7s0UStYjcM/viewform?edit_requested=true&fbclid=IwAR3qonx8cHfegS0ktGQ6Cxr_Vu2Rfa1VUMGlApS7SMedGNkZ_jzY_Xalg_I ♡♡More pictures of Bobby♡♡ https://www.facebook.com/100070471832185/posts/449087950783596/

Story
Meet our VERY handsome resident Bear!Bear is a young dog in search of an active furever home that will take him for all sorts of adventures! Bear can sometimes be a bit reserved with new people, but once he gets to know you and is trusting, he's a big ham who adores to be with his favorite people. He especially loves to play soccer and keep away with his favorite toys, and will bounce and bound with happiness while he plays. With that said, Bear will need to go to a home with a good amount of outdoor space access, to accommodate his oodles of big boy energy! He is also an excellent climber and is capable of scaling tall fences. He adores toys and puzzles to use his brain! We know that Bear is afraid of confined spaces such as vehicles or kennels - so a home that is comfortable working to slowly get him comfortable with cars would be best, as well as a home that doesn't need to have him crated. A previous foster home put a lot of work into building his confidence around cars. He does have a few specific asks for his future home:-Bear would prefer an adult only home, he is jumpy and mouthy when excited and would not be a good fit for a home with kids.-Bear needs to be the only pet in his forever home, he can be selective with dogs he likes and dogs he doesn't.-Bear needs an experienced home that has had dogs before and can read his body language if he is uncomfortable.
