Story
🐶 The Twelve Dogs of Christmas – Day 2: Ranger 🎄On the second dog of Christmas, the season brought to us… a gentle giant fella of fluff. 🎅Hello. I’m Ranger.I’m a big, calm Pyrenees with a quiet way of moving through the world. The people here say I’m “every Pyr lover’s dream." I think that means I’m steady, polite, and full of soft fur and softer feelings, at least, that's how I see myself and people tend to like me.Shelter life is loud and bright, and I don’t quite fit the pace here. I’m the kind of dog who likes slow mornings, watching trees sway, and leaning all of my 80 pounds gently against the person I love. I give what humans call "gentle hugs" occasionally. When I stand up, I’m eye-to-eye with the humans, and I wrap my paws around them like we’ve known each other forever. I only do it when they’re leaving me in my run because I so desperately don't want them to.💔I’ve been very clean in my kennel, and I try my best to hold it until I get outside. The volunteers say that probably means I’m housebroken. I don’t bark much. I listen more than I speak. And when I look at you, I really mean it.I talked to this big jolly red dude today whom I heard them call "Santa".🎅 He whispered to me how beautiful I am and called my eyes soulful. He told me I'm a gentle soul in a loud world right now, and I leaned into him...my new friend who understood. With my eyes, I communicated my one wish. A home who will love me and understand my guardian needs to protect my flock...my family. If what you want for Christmas is a calm companion - the kind who walks beside you, rests at your feet, and makes your whole house feel peaceful - I would love to be that dog.🐶I’m three years old.💗I’m 80 pounds of gentleness.🏠And I’m ready to go home.Love,RangerCome by the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter and ask staff to help you meet Ranger, Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm or Sunday, 12-4pm. Story
A King Who Just Wants a Castle to Call Home Meet King; a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix with a calm spirit and a heart full of love. King may be a big dog, but he is as gentle as they come. He adores kids, gets along beautifully with other animals, and finds happiness in life and enjoys long walks, ear scratches, treats, and naps in the sunshine. His goofy side shines through when he races inside and slides across the floor with a wagging tail. King is intelligent, well-mannered, and already knows how to sit, lay down, and ask for what he needs. He is ready to share his gentle heart with a forever family who will love him as much as he will love them. 💛

Story
I rescued this dog a year ago. She is approximately 11 1/2 years old. She is very sweet. She has a sister as well. We love them but they are too much for us to handle. They like to roam and I constantly have to go find them. I have to keep them locked up all the time which is not fair at all. They need land to roam which I dont have. I have tried for over a year but it is not working out. They are very loving dogs. Love everybody. The other ones name is Star. I just had surgery and are not able to go find them all the time. They would be great for a farm. Please help me!

Story
Duke is a purebred Great Pyrenees. He is an outside dog. He is bored at our home and needs a farm with a job to do. He is food aggressive with other animals. When food isn’t involved he is fine with others. Loves all humans. My 12 year old sister is his favorite person. Is a digger.. he’s dug holes all over my yard. Isn’t house trained. Only eats dry kibble with water or wet food involved.

Story
Hutch is an extraordinary Great Pyrenees—wickedly smart, incredibly sweet, and a true gentle giant with an independent streak. He’s the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, always ready to share cuddles while keeping a watchful eye on his surroundings. This social butterfly absolutely loves being with his people and thrives in a home where he can be part of the action. Whether it's lounging with his family or making new friends, Hutch’s cheerful spirit shines wherever he goes! And when we say he’s smart, we mean it—Hutch has mastered the art of scaling a 4-foot chain link fence just to say hello to the world, so a tall wooden privacy fence is highly recommended for his future home. Hutch is working on his leash training and is eaer to please, making him an excellent walking companion for strolls or outdoor adventures. Hutch is up to date on all his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped, meaning he’s healthy, happy, and ready to find his forever family. If you're searching for a loving, intelligent, playful pup who will bring joy and companionship into your life, Hutch is ready to meet you! Come meet Hutch at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue—he’s waiting to steal your heart! ##1991480##
