Story
Duddy is a 2-year-old male great Pyrenees mix available for adoption at CCHS! Duddy was found as a stray in Champaign. He is a "gentle giant" and is very calm when he's with his people. He does suffer from separation anxiety, so a patient home who has time to work with him would be ideal. Come meet this sweetheart at CCHS!

Story
Meet Sissy, a delightful 9-year-old with a heart as big as her 70-pound frame. Sissy's foster parents recently had a DNA test done, and it turns out she's not an Anatolian Shepherd mix after all. She is still  a proud member of the Guardian Breed family, but she is 66.5% Great Pyrenees and 33.5% Sarplaninac (we had to look that one up!). This resilient girl may only have three legs, but she moves around with grace and ease, preferring homes with limited stairs. Despite her past challenges, Sissy’s spirit remains unbroken, and she has blossomed in her foster home, thriving alongside fellow senior dogs in peaceful coexistence. Sissy is the epitome of a sweetheart, exuding calmness and affection. She is house and crate trained, though she's still mastering the command for going to her crate. While she hasn’t been around children in our care, her gentle nature suggests she would do well with older, calmer kids who can respect her desire for a quiet, serene environment. Sissy is currently Heartworm positive, but don't let that deter you! Heartworm disease is not contagious to other dogs, as it is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Sissy would love nothing more than to be in her forever home while undergoing treatment. Rest assured, Wish Bone will provide all the necessary treatment to ensure she gets healthy and happy. This loving tri-pod adores being around her humans, whether it’s to share a moment of companionship or simply to find a cozy spot for a nap. Sissy is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy her golden years in tranquility, surrounded by love. If you’re searching for a sweet, chill companion who will warm your heart every day, Sissy is the perfect match for you. Her minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Beethoven, a gentle giant who is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees/St. Bernard mix weighing 83 pounds. This sweet and calm boy is incredibly loving and enjoys getting lots of pets. Beethoven might be a bit shy and slow to warm up initially, but once he does, his friendly and adaptable nature shines through. Beethoven is quite the homebody who loves lounging indoors. He enjoys brief walks and some time in the yard but is perfectly content hanging out inside. He has done well with everyone he has met, including another dog in our care. His previous rescue said he was good with other dogs and kids.  Completely potty trained, Beethoven has never had an accident in his run at the shelter. He walks nicely on a leash without pulling and knows how to sit. While he’s not interested in toys, he does enjoy chewing on bones. Beethoven is very quiet, never making a peep, and is not destructive at all. He does get anxious and sad during car rides, although he doesn’t misbehave. This calm and sweet boy doesn’t jump up on people and takes his time sniffing around and lounging in the yard. He would love a fenced yard, but it is not a requirement. If you’re looking for a loving, calm, and gentle companion who’s happy to just be with you, Beethoven might be the perfect match! His minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Disney is a 7 year old male. He has been waiting for his perfect home for a very long time. He is a good boy most of the time but can present some challenges which include the behavior of an untrained, goofy puppy at times. We have learned what triggers that behavior and how to avoid and stop it. Disney is our Peter Pan Pyr. He can't seem to 100% grow up, still loves toys and is a fun happy boy. Disney has matured into a very handsome 90 pounds. We will be looking for an experienced adult only home committed to house training (manners) and working obedience into his everyday life. He needs structure and routine. Disney does have house expereince, is fine in a crate for a reasonable length of time, loves car rides and is quite the affectionate boy. He is good for the groomer and vet, walks well on leash with the right collar and does well with most other dogs. Even though he is good with most all other dogs he prefers human attention. His best match will be as an only dog home with play dates or doggy day care to give him some canine socialization. If placed with another dog, a resident female would be his best match. Please contact us if interested in adopting, fostering to adopt or fostering. Adoption info and application can be found at gprci.com Securely fenced yard for safe outside potty and play time will be required.

Story
K2 is an 11 month old Great Pyrenees in need of a forever family due to severe health issues of his previous owners. He will be one year old on June 26th and would love to have a forever home for his birthday. He is fully vetted and ready for adoption. K2 is a very nice, friendly, active pup and will need an adopter committed to the time, training and socialization all pups need. He has some house experience but will need house training. At this point he would not be a good fit for young children, as he still gets excited and bouncy at times, but possibly older children. He is just about 90 pounds and his adult coat is just coming in. As most puppies do, he absolutely loves to play with other dogs. His best match in the long run would be a female that likes to play but also will set boundaries for him. He has come a long way in learning to respect corrections/boundaries by playing with 2 adult females that are here at their rescue. He can be a little overwhelming to a dog that does not want to play and won't tell him so. At this time we do not know how he would do with a small dog or cats. Adoption info and our adoption application can be found at gprci.com and questions about K2 can be emailed to gprci.info@gmail.com

Story
This beautiful young man deserves a very soft place to land. He came to us at the first of the year as a victim of being caught in a domestic abuse situation. He arrived severely emaciated weighing in at 42 pounds, shy with new people and frightened of men in particular. He has come so far in such a short time but will need patience and TLC to continue his journey back to fully trusting that life is good. Buster now weighs in at 75 pounds and is an energetic, playful youngster. He is still shy with strangers at first but once acquainted, is just the sweetest boy. His best match long term, if placed in a home with a resident dog, will be a female canine companion (spayed of course) and securely fenced yard will be required for safe outside daytime. He has lived with children of all ages and is reportedly fine with cats. If interested in adopting Buster please visit gprci.com and complete an adoption application. Email gprci.info@gmail.com with any questions.
