Story
Sandy was adopted from the local shelter not knowing her breed. We have a tiny home with two other dogs. One of those other dogs is too dominant and the space is too small, causing guarding behaviors to be excessive over my husband and I, as well as any food. Sandy is loyal, loving, playful and and obedient. She is professionally trained and a great addition to anyone's life. She is 85 lbs of pure playfulness and needs space to run, and a purpose. Sandy is loved and does not have any behavioral issues other than the fighting with our one dog, but we do need to find a home as soon as possible to aviod having to euthanize her. Please respond if you would be willing to give her a more suitable home.

Story
Meet Star! Star is a 10 year old Pyrenees/Hound mix. Star is a super sweet girl. She is house trained and does well with older kids. She needs an active family that keep her busy and exercised. Star needs a home with NO cats, and this pretty little lady prefers the company of male dogs only. If you would like to make this sweet girl a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org. STAR'S ADOPTION FEE IS $100The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am

Story
Louisville / Oldham County - willing to transport to surrounding areas. We believe Oso is around 6 years old - neutered, vaccinates and clean bill of health. He's been an inside dog his entire life but is looking for an environment where he could truly thrive - that would entail comfy spaces to lounge around inside, contained areas/yard/land to bask in the sun and protect his perimeter, and a house with no male dogs (he does seem to like the ladies!). Unsure how he is with children, but he does best with calm homes & chest rubs. Although he's not a fan of rain & thunderstorms, he loves to sniff the air when it's sunny outside and frolic on the snowy days. True to his breed, he can be stubborn but he can also be loyal to the person who chooses to love and care for him. Please help u find a loving home - happy to share more details to those interested!

Story
Dolly is a 3yr female Great Pyrenees mix at about 85lbs and Dixie (Dolly's daughter) is a 2yr female Great Pyrenees mix at about 56lbs and these girls are looking for their new forever family. They are being surrendered to GRRAND as their people can not financially afford the girls, and sadly feel  it is best for them to go to a home where they will get all of the care they need.  They are house-trained and have full roam of the house when left alone and they also get along with other dogs. These girls will need a home with a fenced in yard as their Great Pyrenees instincts to protect and patrol are done best in the confines of a secure and safe fenced in yard. These girls have been together since Dixie was born and they are BFF's, so need to stay together. We are told: " Dolly and her daughter Dixie are both sweethearts. Dolly is a mother by nature and wants to lick up and take care of all dogs that come into the house. Her favorite place to be is outside, whereas Dixie loves to be inside. They are both people and dog friendly and I have had a cat and they both were okay with the cat. Dolly has longer hair and has more pyrenees, whereas her daughter Dixie has shorter hair and looks more like a lab."   As we learn more we will update, but if you would like to inquire about Dolly and Dixie, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2041630##
